Sorry, sorry forgot to say that this is only for Galaxy Phones!
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Gio, and the app seems to run and do 'something'. Far from the 60 seconds of blank screen, maybe 2 seconds if even that.
The app does generate 4 lines of codes, as in the screenshot. Items that are unlocked on the phone are filled with zero's. So it appears that each code corresponds to one of the locks (simlock and 'SP'? lock).
After entering the code (with a valid sim) #7465625*638*# the dial field is empty again, this the point when to enter the 8 digit code?
Also, (and I will search some more on this subject later) is it possible that the SP code is the unfreeze code? I wonder about this because I accidentally eentered a wrong code with different network sim in it. I stupidly thought it was asking for the pin-code :S
Generally speaking, how often may you enter a unlock code, can you see the 'freeze' counter somewhere? Does it have some sort of cooldown?
I am searching for the freeze answers here now, so I may edit the post when I have found it
P.S. Is there more info about this app somewhere? I'm curious about how it finds the info to unlock the phone, as this series of phones doesn't have the 'efs' folder as the S series seem to have.
UPDATE!
Before running the program, the phone was pretty much 'factory resetted'. I ran the app, wrote down the code, but didn't use it for anything. I'm not sure when I checked the simlock status, but I had 1010 (binary) and I guess it must have been before running the app. I then did a nother factory reset, and ran the app again; just to see if it would generate the same codes. It did.
Since I wanted to search about for the unfreeze code, I checked the status of the lock again ... both where now gone!!
So not only does this app most likly generate the proper codes, it also appears to remove both locks!
I guess the app could have installed some backdoor or something but on a rooted phone, it works!

Yeah, the problem is though, the app unlocked the phone and displayed the codes. I did not enter them. I did enter the code you listed above to get to the 'enter code now' screen so to say, but i never entered anything.
I guess it's all about trust I wonder though where he obtained the information on the phone, since the gio doesn't have nv_data or /efs. I'm still very happy though
Thank you for program

My IMEI isnt resetted and my mac isnt too.
You say in an earlier post that your phone was freezed? Because too much wrong unlock codes?this app dont write things he read only IMEI and generate code.
I hope that you can reset your IMEI ;-)
My phone was not frozen, I was affraid I might freeze it, so I didn't enter the key yet.
Basically I only ran it.
What happens on Gio's anyway is, that the App does a dd if=/dev/block/stl5 of=/sdcard/Galaxy_Ace_Unlock/stl5.rfs
READING, as the app is doing, from the 'efs' partition causes something to go wrong and it borkes the efs partition! That is why my phone was unlocked, as the lock is stored in the efs partition!!

Specialy for you i reflash my phone back to GingerBread and i formatted my SD card.
After the flash i check my lockstatus and all things stays on OFF.
This tool need only files to read your IMEI and generate an unlock Code.
I think its safe and its works for me.
When you're afraid for freezing your phone i will advertise you to try an unlock service.
Thats not free but you got a guaranteed unlock tool.
Good luck
Thanks for this guide on how to unlock the Samsung GIO. I have already tried several methods to unlock using the apps provided on this forum to unlock Samsung Galaxy phones. However on my GIO the efs folder doesn't excist and therefore the methods I found didn't work. When I get home from work I'll try the unlock method as described above. If it works I'd be very happy . You'll hear from me.
Grat news... I tried the above things. I downloaded Galaxy_Ace_Unlock as apk, copied it onto my SDcard and installed it on my GIO using an app installer. I got 4 codes, from which 2 of them looked like working codes. I haven't tried the codes and rebooted my phone. I just wanted to make sure my phone wasn't broken after using the app and guess what, it did break my phone. Whenever I try to boot my phone it stucks @ flashing loadscreen. I can't get past the flashes, even when I attach my usb cable that's connected to my computer it won't get passen anything.
Help me out here, is there ANY way to reset my phone back to original factory settings?
I have no phone filesystem backup or whatever, I just ran the app as specified above and did NOT enter any code.
What can I do?
My phone also boot-loops!
I successfully rooted the phone and ran this application, it successfully read one code. I didn't do anything else then, didn't enter any code but instead I restarted the phone to change sim-card. But then the phone just boot-loops.
This is pretty much a direct KANG of my work with no thanks or anything.
Here is how its done for those who care.
this.os.writeBytes("dd if=/dev/block/stl5 of=/sdcard/Galaxy_Ace_Unlock/stl5.rfs\n");
this.os.flush();
this.os.writeBytes("cd /sdcard/Galaxy_Ace_Unlock/\n");
this.os.flush();
this.os.writeBytes("dd if=stl5.rfs of=code1.txt bs=1 skip=860170 count=8\n");
this.os.flush();
this.os.writeBytes("dd if=stl5.rfs of=code2.txt bs=1 skip=860202 count=8\n");

Hehe, so you think it's weird that I come here to ask how to solve the bootloop after using the APP? Sorry but is it also possible to restore back to Factory settings or anything or to restore a phone that is totally unusable after this? I can only load download mode and emergency mode now. I have searched this forum but can't find any help on how to restore back. I'd be up to restore back and then retry your method and thanks you greatly after removing my lock then . Don't understand me wrong, I'm only hoping you can also help me out after my phone is bricked atm. No hard feelings, it's my own fault after all for using someone else's code. I'm a programmer after all and I know how things can depend on device specific things .
Anyway thanks in advance, I'd like to hear from u soon!
This is what I did find on the forum:
using dd command on stl5 is bricking the phone: UNSAFE METHOD
Ok. For good comparison I attached both perso.txt: before and after unlock.
Perhaps that helps. My network was locked to 20404 and the unlock code is 61493638
and there is another code in the file: 92427358 but I don't know what that one does.
Perhaps it is better practise to follow this road for getting the codes:
- adb shell
- su
- dd if=/dev/block/stl5 of=/sdcard/stl5.rfs bs=4096
Then use winimage or similar to examine /sdcard/stl5.rfs as FAT16 image file.
Cheers

I hope it is not a direct rip from your idea as it bricks phones
the thread linked earlier confirms it. dd-ing the unmount efs partition on a 'normally' running phone causes it to corrupt the efs partition.
Personally, I still have not rebooted my phone, until I have found a solution so that it is not stuck in a reboot loop. Be it as it may, I will remove my root and put it back to default settings and return it hopefully under warranty to reset the IMEI. The phone is just over a week old :S
So are there any ideas on how to restore a corrupted efs by using the DD method as described before? My phone is just 4 days old and already teared apart now . I'm looking on all fora I can find but nowhere there is an explanation to be found on how to reset all of this.

IF you have backed up the efs partition, you can use odin. But since its nearly impossible to backup (may be in emergency boot mode, you actually can read) you actually brick your phone from performing said backup. I don't think the repair tool has been leaked yet (e.g. an efs generator of sorts) so it's pretty much impossible to do this at home. The only way to fix it is to have a certified repair technician fix it, as he has the tools (hopefully) to do this.
Lastly, this tool should be deleted from the firstpost. Helroz has already removed it from his site, since it does corrupt phones.
Long story short, with above average ROM knowledge, and two previous successful flashes under my belt, I flashed Slimbean JB 4.2.1 Beta1 for my Sprint GS3 SPH-L710, and all was quite fine until I messed with menu/security/SIM PIN. Though I thought I was setting it for extra phone security, I actually implemented an unknownst-to-me feature that upon the following reboot, the phone requested a PUK code for a now-locked SIM card (my phone doesn't have a SIM card by the way).
After a long CS call to Sprint, including International Sprint, I was told to go to a local store. The short part of this story is that no one has been able to help. You see, since I DON'T have a SIM card, I have no ID to provide to Int Sprint for them to find a PUK code for me to enter. Although, I've had many troubles in doing so, I have since been able to reset the phone to stock factory settings; HOWEVER, this has NOT removed the PUK code screen, which prevents me from using the phone at all.
I am out of ideas of things to change, alter or fix to get rid of this issue. I have tried CWM and TWRP solutions with no success. In a sense, although I can do anything with the phone - recovery, download, flashing - except actually use the OS, I would consider this phone as useless as if it were bricked at this point. Any ideas from out there would be appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried Odin

I would try flashing an odin stock tar, then re-rooting.
Nothing in recovery, such as a full wipe, factory and system reset fixed the problem?

I have successfully returned boot, system and recovery to stock, but this has not resolved the overriding issue. I don't believe I have tried to re-root since doing so. Perhaps that is worth a try.
EDIT: rerooting after Odin stock flash did not help the issue.

I am afraid none of these tasks worked. This issue must reside somewhere recovery can't get to, and only the OS can. The software is likely built so that a regularly performed task can't override a security issue - even if it is a false issue.

Did you have to contact International Sprint CS or just regular? How long exactly did you badger them? Had you flashed the phone, increasing your Binary count? If so, did Sprint not hit you with a bill after replacement? Just curious, as I have really upped my count due to recovery flashes to try to fix the phone. I think I can still get a Samsung E-ticket through Sprint store for about $37.00. But again, I am concerned about the flash count, and being unable to reset it. Perhaps I should do what I can to really brick it once and for all before I turn it over.

Handsfree Activation?
I don't think Sprint even implements that rule anymore so he should definitely be fine. Have you tried handsfree activation ------>

Maybe give that a whirl. I believe you must be on stock tw for this to work effectively which it sounds like you should now be on.
On second thought, your phone may not even allow you get as far as being able to dial the activation number, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Yeah, I don't have any access to the phone OS whatsoever. Sprint tech has it now; doing some kind of process which includes a 40-minute file extraction and a 30+minute flash. Perhaps that will finally reset everything. If not, Sprint has already said it will then replace the phone.
Received a new GS3 today and I'm back in the game. Thank you to everyone who tried to assist me. In the end, no one on any forum, not Sprint, and not even Samsung could correct the original phone problem. The moral - be very cognizant and careful when flashing any CMDA variant of a native GSM ROM, as there could be settings within them regarding the SIM cards that GSM's do have, but CMDA's do not, or perhaps other harmful settings if messed with or changed. This warning is really nothing new to anyone flashing custom ROM's; it's simply another hard-learned lesson by one person whose adding more truth to the usefulness of such warnings.
Hi guys, i have been using a ROOTED galaxy note 2 for quite some time now. my phone has been running on the jellybean 4.1.1 version, i decided to manually update to jellybean 4.1.2 with odin (through laptop) all went ok and i managed to upgrade properly. The latest rom modifies the efs folder (where your imei is stored) so only some modems can read it. For unknown reason kies or ota updates don't modify the efs, so the new rom can't use the efs info. Dude first thing is check if your Imei is corrupt. Go to about device/status and if it starts with 0049, this means it's corrupt and without a backup Samsung are the only ones who can fix as they have to replace the motherboard. If it is corrupt you could try moving your efs to SD card and then rebooting and then moving it back.

The pin input screen doesn't pop up anymore, not after shutting it down and restarting, and turning my airplane mode on and off, on top of that my my middle on-screen button doesn't work anymore. I can press it and It gives me feedback by vibrating, however it doesn't take me back to my homescreen anymore. This is enervating as you see, not being able to talk or send messages... Please do give me a solution or refer me to the thread treating this issue as I've not found such thread. Thanks in advance!
Regarding the "Home Button" I don't have any clue.. Rooted my One as well and never happened to have this problem.
The no service maybe is not directly linked to the other problem. Are you using an original nano SIM, or did you cut it yourself? If yes it could have caused a defect which has not occurred right away. Have you tried removing the SIM tray while phone is on and place it back in? If not what happens when doing this.

I'm using an original nano sim, and yes I did try removing it. I haven't dropped my phone, nor was the sim out of place, no dust or water could have reached it either, I've got a sturdy case around it!
Do you know how to use adb and fastboot commands?
If yes you could try to clear the whole cache of the phone to check if the problems result of some data in the cache.
The commands would be
adb fastboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
No data will be lost by this. Thus this is what I would try first. Otherwise I would - as long as you are completely stock - perform a factory reset. By this all data on the phone would be lost including installed APPs, but it is with it, if you get the problem solved by this.

I've factory reseted it, wanting to flash the stock recovery so i could install the 4.4.3 ota, however inbetween everything I installed a back- up from twrp recovery. i didn't even know I had backed it up, it was a fairly recent one. So I got lucky, the problem has resolved itself, thank you for your help!

I've backtracked the root of the evil, the latest update of Echo Lockscreen bypasses the pin-input screen which causes the 'home' button to malfunction and obviously the fact that I couldn't get service! So I disabled it and put my pin in and enabled the lockscreen back on!

Thanks for this information. I guess it will be of use for others encountering the same problem as you did! :good:
Maybe you could add [Solved] at the end of your OP so erveryone recognizes right away when scrolling through Q&A.
Dear friends,
I have a Samsung galaxy fame lite GT-S6790L, android 4.1.2 Jellybean, wich is network locked.
- First I rooted it with king-root, then I have installed 'Regionlock away' on it, didnt help for unlocking, and the phone shows "Not registered on network" when calling, or it is impossible to register on any network at all.
Later the phone was flashed with a Stock ROM without carrier logos.
Then, I waited for the subsidy code from my carrier, wich I have now.
Problem is:
- now, when I insert a SIM card from a diferent carrier, the SIMLOCK menu doesn't prompt (wich actually was prompting before I messed things up).
- the codes for bringing the simlock menu up, do not seem to work, in fact when I dial the codes nothing happens (the phone doesn`t react at the codes);
- what i have tried so far, and nothing happens:
*#7465625#
#7465625#
*#7465625*638*#
#7465625*638*#
*#7465625*638*{CODE}# ; also tried variants that I found for Jellybean *#7465625638#,
*#197328640#
*#0011# , brings a service mode menu, but it is unlockable, I have tried "menu + Back"; "menu Key Input + 1" (also Q, and 0000). Nothing seems to help.
*#06# do gives me the IMEI number, wich is correct according to that one labeled on the back of the phone.
The phone was also flashed with Odin with the Stock Rom of the original carrier, and it didnt help either.
I've exhausted all my possibilities as a rookie.
What I am missing? is there a solution?
Thanks in advance
anybody ?
please?
im still stuck with my phone

Hi faizauthar12, thanks for the reply, but I do not quite understand what your asking me, so I will answer by guess.
I flashed this firmware using Odin 3 (without messing with the options, and only did the full wipes with the stock recovery before and after flashing the PDA file S6790LUBAMK2_S6790LUUBAMK1_S6790LUBAMK2__HOME.tar.md5)
Stock firmware info:
Device-----------------------/--Model-------/--Region---/- Version-------------/--OS-----/--Build-------/--Changelist
Galaxy Fame Lite (Latin)--/--GT-S6790L--/--ARO------/--S6790LUBAMK2--/--4.1.2----/--25.11.2013--/--1476588
Also I flashed others from different regions than ARO.
If you are telling me to use another procedure called "flash firmware" that I have confused with the Odin procedure.... Im in the dark, and got to say that I do not have the knowledge.

Yep
It's called flash firmware
First make sure the firmware it's for ur region,or follow where ur phone made (behind the battery,u need to pulled out the battery)
Adter that ,try to use nand erase all,it will erase everyting at ur phone ,so make a backup
If u got bootloop ,go to recovery ,wipe data ..
Good luck ,inform me again

Hi faizauthar12,
sorry for the delay, I managed to make a backup after installing the CWM.
Later I have flashed the firmware with the Nand erase all option activated, it Pass OK, got the bootloop fixed,
but it didnt fix the problem of the simlocks and the secret menus.
It is so strange cause the Nand erase all should erase all indeed.
I put the Sim card to verify and the phone gets signal and receive empty info messages of all the operators and even receive messages without a Simcard in it (I dont know why because I did not tried to register in any of them yet),
Also, when i try to make a call, it says "not registered in network". Tried to register in the network but phone never does it, and fails.
can i do anything else before quit?
Thanks for your help
anybody with any suggestions?
a Quick update,
I took the cellphone to a service, they flashed it with a box, and all.
It didn't make any difference, the phone does not register in the network, and stays in "no service".
thanks anyway guys.
