I was able to use my allshare cast hub exactly one time after upgrading to MA7 and rooting. Using Triangle Away 2.60, my status was normal, but Allshare would keep disconnecting as if I was modified.
Has anyone been able to use Allshare (or MHL since it has the same limitation) and root on MA7?
I reverted to LJC, but would like to disable the exynos exploit permanently. (Exynos Abuse set at boot will cause status to change to modified)
Thank you.

Re: [Q] Allshare, root, & MA7. Work for anyone?
I can only say allshare works over wifi even if you're rooted and custom rom. I don't have the dongle but I have a samsung tv that has allshare.
I have to say it's pretty crap though. It doesn't display the phones screen on the tv, it lets the tv access some files on the phone and the tv plays them itself. Only some video and audio codecs work, only the stock video player not youtube or netflix etc.
I hope the smart dock works better since I want to use things like better terminal emulator pro and a regular desktop creen keyboard & mouse.

The hub mirrors the screen on my TV perfectly. I use my phone as my primary pc. Using the Complete Linux Installer, Ubuntu 12.04 runs flawlessly with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. With Splashtop I can control every PC in the house in the same way. It makes allshare a necessary feature.
I am even thinking about dropping my wired internet entirely.

I was able to flash the MA7 kernel, but otherwise stay on LJC. This fixed the exynos vulnerability and allows me to use allshare cast.

Good idea. I like LJC and do not want to update but Chainfire Exynos patch kills the MHL, Smart Hub, and allshare cast so this is a great workaround.
I tried again to upgrade fully to MA7 with root and all share. No luck, though I had my first soft brick. Odin, Billard412's LJC revert, my nandroid, Triangle Away and I was back in business. Thanks to XDA and all the great developers, I had an enjoyable learning experience (once I was able to get download mode. )
Edit: Eventually got everything working on MA7 (thanks XDA!). Now on MC2 with a note8 mod, allshare still working

I'm interested enough that I'll be a guinea pig and give this a shot over the weekend but I thought I would see if anyone else has tried this first.
I successfully used the siaxis app along with a ps3 controller plugged in through USB.

I'm guessing you're not rooted yet?
I already heard that USB storage doesn't recognize but that apps can pull it off if the device is rooted.
I have used my Sixaxis with GTA. I have also plugged my other phone in and was able to get adb shell to the other device (which also subsequently was charging as well). USB thumb drives work as well when used with StickMount (found in the market created by one of our own). USB hubs work, powers itself and worked with a USB keyboard, mouse, and the thumb drive.

Do you have the StickMount app?
As far as I understand that is one of them that is able to provide access to use storage.
You can also use the Wii controller, that works fine, is BT so it's wireless - you just need to install an app to get it working:

Edit: Sorry the wii controller works on both n64oid and gameboid, and im assuming every other emulator, you just have to go into Other settings and check the input method option.
Btw what emulators does the Sixaxis ps3 controller work with? The idea of bluetooth + dual analog sticks + awesome build design and a recognizable controller is worth $50 . Does it work with n64oid/gameboid and other emulators? How about just android games, shadowgun maybe?
Edit 2: Played Super smash bros with the wii controller, worked great. Played it with Zelda OoT .. was a f***ing nightmare; virtual controllers are better. (I attached the nunchuck for this game) The deadzone of the analog stick is ridiculous, and you can't use the B button on the controller at all because N64oid (and the other emus) register it as the "Back" button so you cant use your sword at all and all it does is bring up the stupid emulator menu every single time ... I tried remapping the button in the Wii IME app to no avail ... what a pain -.- I hope the PS3 sixaxis works better; it definitely looks better than the nunchuck/controller with the wire and everything ...
USB game controller support was introduced in 3.2 and should be carried over into ICS.
Best solution IMO is the Six axis app and wireless bluetooth. The new six axis app supports virtual screen presses to make it compatible with virtually all android games.

hi i've been looking for a while now and ive found a few 7' tablet cases with keyboards and was wondering if anyone has tried one with the kindle fire.
It's highly unlikely right now.
The chip set in the Kindle apparently supports Bluetooth, but Amazon chose to not enable it. There are talented devs at work to enable it, but nothing so far.
Bump
I am not the most tech savy person out there, but is there no other portable external keyboard that would be compatible with the KF that is not necessarily Bluetooth. I started school, and love using my KF for simple note taking, but i can only swype so fast lol, and would love to use it for faster and longer note taking.
Any suggestions or ideas would be great!

At the moment, no. The only options for keyboards are bluetooth and usb, neither of which are currently available on the KF.
You will either have to wait for a ROM that can support it (thus rooting and flashing your KF) or wait and see if Amazon will release an OTA which enables the support.

Get a stylus and use it on a journal type app? That's what I'm doing at the moment. Then I go home and type it all out on Evernote since it's a bit sloppy. I'm actually going to give Quill a try next week which supports Evernote too.
I dont know why amazon would have bluetooth and the other stuff that ppl would use disabled.
I think it only hurts the sell of the KF if you ask me, haha I wouldnt have the one I have if my wife wouldnt have gotten it.
It's unfortunate that this isn't possible yet, it's something I would really like to see.
so there isn't any keyboards that work over wifi that could work? That's kinds what I was thinking. I know its possible because I got a app that uses one aneroid device to control another over wifi.

Yes, there are apps that use a computer to do the same thing. HOWEVER, there is no such thing as a dedicated wifi enabled keyboard. Why? Because the speeds wouldn't be fast enough for daily usage. It'd be like using dialup, except that instead for webpages taking a minute to load up, it'll be all your keystrokes.
Wifi connections are good for home sharing files/music/video, but not for something that should only take .0000000000001 milliseconds. Lol.
Which is why Bluetooth and USB are the mainly used interface. They're faster, they are not dependent on your router, and are far easier to plug & play.
A little bump but is there anyway this thing can help?

You cant use that cable, Kindle Fire doesn't support USB host. Developers are trying to make ICS work fully and neither bluetooth or USB host are priority to them.
Not yet.

Just tried it on codename and yeah it's not working at all.
any thoughts as to how to make it work? or any other alternatives, just as good?
I have not find anything better than "Hide it PRO" yet... its not working appropriately on ICS and is frequently crashing, sent couple of taps to Developer and no response yet..
I hope developer fix the issue soon or some one find the equivalent app quickly...
I hope so too because I have ALOT of porn in my gallery all of a sudden.
Huh, I just tried it and it worked for me. I'm running Blue Kuben with FF11 Modem and kernel. I don't believe I'm running the paid version if that makes a difference. I can't think of any reasons why it would work for me and not others. I've never had any issues with Audio Manager and have run all ICS ROMS.
I'm open to any questions, If I can help any.

Any word fron Anju on if he is going to port Hide it to ICS?
The program Hide it pro or Audio Manager does not work on ICS. I just upgraded to a S3 and I have had nothing but problems with the program. Is the developer (Anuj Tenani) ever on this forum? Is there going to be any update to the program for ICS? Any information would be appreciated!

This great program must just have issues with ICS. I tried it on my E4GT in every ics ROM and it is horrible. Didn't launch apps and had to uninstall and reinstall. Time to let Devs know. Seems like they don't update this so often at all

... just a guess but I'm sure that it has something to do with the fact that the internal "sdcard" and the external. er... "extsdcard" are handled differently with the S3 on ICS and that there is no app2sd function on the S3. I was able to get the GLtoSD app to transfer a couple of my apps to the extsdcard, but Hide It Pro still wouldn't lock or hide those apps after the move... so there are also other issues.

If you guys are talking about the stock app, how can you say it works perfectly when the dimensions of the app force you to use more than three quarters of the screen to use it? Could you recommend one that uses half the screen, because if I am expected to give up so much real estate for it, it would be better to completely switch from one app to another. I had thought the whole idea of multitasking was to do more than one thing at a time.
EDIT
Honestly, if you guys are just attempting to be rude, I'd rather not have the help because I was intending to get answers to a serious question.
If the video player that comes stock didn't show the full dimensions of the movie but "worked perfectly" with multi window by merely running and displaying half of the screen, I doubt that would be good enough for you. Of course, you could just expand the window to get more of the picture, but that defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

I second aircal, I use it on jellybam (no multi-window as it is AOSP) but floating calc = better the multi-window calc since you can have 3 things up at a time then lol.

Thanks. With the dev name, I was able to find it. Without it it seemed as though you were talking about the stock and I didn't know any better. It was pretty far down the list, but I found it and I will try it out. The screen shot surely looks much more promising then the stock one on our devices. The Air also looks to have even greater utility and I will give it a look as well. Thanks again.

This clarification helped immensely. The app works truly flawless. This is the answer.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 on the AT&T network none rooted. Since the 4.3 update I cannot get any tethering applications to work (tried Foxfi and SVTP paid which I had been using for almost a year prior to).
As of 4.3 I keep getting the pop up "To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611" message any time I try to enable a mobile hotspot application.
So my question is, has anyone found a good workaround without rooting? If root will be mandatory can someone suggest an idiots guide to rooting? Because I have zero experience with rooting an android device.
Thanks in advance.
You're not alone. I'm having the same issue. I can't root because my company pays for the phone and they use Mobile Iron to push email, calendar, etc.. Hoping someone comes up with a nice work around that PDANet / FoxFi can leverage to get the wifi hotspot working again. In the mean time, using the Bluetooth tethering option on PDANet seems to still be working..

You assume all responsibility of anything that may or may not happen by using the information in this post. Use the information carefully.
I contacted enewman17 and inquired about the link below \/ \/ \/ he advised me that it should be flashable via custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) to any AT&T I747 on 4.3 regardless of rom or kernel and possibly without root. He also said he thinks it may work on the I747M also.
If any I747M users flash it and are successful or unsuccessful please let me know so I can post whether this is effective for that as well.
I don't know if you can use this or not, I am rooted and have a custom stockish rom and kernel. I couldn't get anything else to work then I found tether hack with bluetooth from enewman17 flashed it via custom recovery and my native tethering now works without questioning whether I pay my carrier for tethering services or not.
You should research where this can be used and how to use it before doing anything I found it in one of the threads I was getting a rom from and took a chance by flashing it over my current rom. It worked but I'm not on stock anything.
