Hi everyboby,
I'm an old android, but also newbie Galaxy Note II user. At the end of my two days experience I observed that wifi drops out when after ~ 10-25 minutes the phone entered the sleep mode. I tried factory reset, changing wifi channel on router, changing wifi encryption mode but its didn't work. After that, i'm trying disable mobile data and wifi issue has gone. What could have caused this? A hardware problem or sofware oriented? Or an incompatibility issue between phone and router?
I'm also tried another wifi in the another location and i never faced that problem. But all the devices in my house can connect smoothly to the router.
I'm installing wifi fixer app from play. I tried with that app.
I didn't work unfortunately. When i exit sleep mode, app repaired wifi connection resetting wifi connection. But it means when the phone in sleep mode wifi has not been transfered data.
Open wifi in settings.
Then click menu and select advanced.
Then tick keep on during sleep.

FIXED:
Apparently the router had a reset button which I just dicovered hidden between the vent gaps, which has a different function than just pulling out the power cord for a minute or so. Now WiFi is working on my phone.
My phone won't connect to a WPA/WPA2 PSK WiFi network. It previously was able to connect (for 2 weeks), but since 6 weeks, it loops: scanning, connecting, disconnected. I have flashed many ROM versions and wiped all phone memory since (mainly for other purposes than this problem), but it still won't connect.
I have tried resetting the router several times without result. I can't access any more settings, because I live with other students in a house where the house-keeper also lives.
The WiFi at my university (802.1x EAP) and the WiFi at my parents house (also WPA/WPA2 PSK) always works properly.
I have searched through the internet and through XDA-forums, but none of the proposed solutions works, can be done on my phone or I am not able to try them because I can't access the router settings.
How about different kernels?

I have the same problem. After unlocking bootloader/rooting my Arc it doesnt connect with my router anymore. My other "still locked/unrooted" Arc has no problem connecting to the router...
edit: seems my BT is having problems aswell.. couldnt connect/find any other devices

I'm running stock 2.3.4 with stock kernel. DoomKernel still has problems isn't it? I'll have to live with it till that's fixed. Already tried reverse tethering, maybe that will work.
It's not such a big problem, as I have my laptop near me there, but installing apps is quite a hassle this way (search for .apk, install apk with flashtool or move apk to sd and install).
I don't have a data plan, it's €10/month for 200mb, pointless for me, because there's WiFi at home, at my university and in the train.

So why did it work before? Does resetting the route solve the problem, I could just try it again...?

When you restoring your phone and after that making setup, then dont log into your google account. Install freshly new rom and directly try connect wifi. If i remember right i had to thiskind problem. And after i realized that problem was "google settings and thatkind stuff backup restore". I just uncheck this option and after that i was abel connect my home wifi. Before that i cant. give a try

Also didn't work, tried that the last time I reflashed.
Anyway, fixed it just a few minutes ago: apparently the router had a reset button, which has a different function than just pulling out the power cord for a minute or so. Now WiFi is working on my phone.

I am using recently acquired Xperia Pro. I get very weak wifi signals in my room so i bought a Thomson Wifi Repeater/Access point to extend the wifi signal to my room. My phone is now unable to connect to the wifi and keeps scanning, connecting and disconnecting. It eventually ends up with a Limited Connectivity noticfication meaning i am unable to connect to internet although get full wifi signal strength. I tried changing some IP configurations but it hasn't helped. Interestingly my Notebook PC is able to connect and maintain somewhat stable connectivity, although at times it too gets disconnected from the internet. I tried connecting to the Wifi using an iPhone and it too had the same issues i.e able to detect the wifi signal but unable to connect to internet.
I am still trying to find the solution to the problem and will update if i find a way out.

I suggest that you update both your phone software and the router firmware to latest possible version.
Let me know how it goes.
same problem
I have the same problem on my arc s after i downgraded the official ICS to gengerbread using flashtool i even tried to upgrade back the ICS but the problem hasn't been fixed
Fixed
Try to find setting on your router like "max number of peers" or something like that and change the value to maximum it can, maybe it will tell the maximum number. After that reconnect your phone wifi, and bless me:angel:
Had same wifi diconnect loop problem - solved
I had the same WiFi loop - connect/disconnect issue. Extremely disturbing.
It appeared out of nowhere.
Rebooted the phone and the router several times - no help.
Used WiFi analizer to check for interferring chanels - nothing special.
Changed the WiFi chanel anyhow - no help.
Reinstalled/uninstalled AT&T smart WiFi - no help
Removed my WIFi network ('forget' button) and found it again, including the password - no help.
I have the WiFi manager installed, but I sort of forgot to check it doing everything through settings.
Only then I found that my WiFi Manager is stuck on the update announcement screen.
Okayed it - problem solved.
Funny thing, I don't remember updating the WiFi manager lately.
Feel so stupid wasting 2 hours.
Hello everybody,
my galaxy nexus randomly loses mobile data. This issue is not present with wifi connection but only with mobile data.
The only solution is make a reboot and after that mobile data begins to work again.
I've tried to update radio (now i've got XL1) but the problem persist
I also flashed a new rom ARHD 2.1.3 and for now no problem but i've flashed yesterday, so I'm waiting to see if the problem is solved or not.
I read in the forum that i'm not the only one, any solution about this annoying issue?
thanks
Hi,
can confirm the same issue, overall signal seems very poor now I'm at ICL53F.
can you pls paste a link for ARHD Rom? i want to test it, but can't find it using search...
thank you

Do you use JuiceDefender?
Same happens here, and I exchanged my phone to see if it would stop. At least it hasn't happened as much. My advice would be to put a toggle on your homescreen for airplane mode. That always remedies it rather quickly and is a workaround until Google gets on it.

I second the Juicedefender guess. That app turns off my data routinely, causing a delay of up to 2-3 minutes waiting for it to re-connect. I had to get rid of it for that reason.

Nope,
i'm thinkg about to send my phone at samsung assistance, but i'm not the only one, i also think that google can fix that with a future update, but for now this problem is terribly annoying
I have similar issues but mine only started showing up since I started using Tasker to turn mobile data off when phone screen is off and turn back on when phone is unlocked.
One way I can get the data to work again is by turning aeroplane mode on then waiting around 5 seconds and then switching aeroplane mode off. That works for me. Another way I usually go about it is to switch my screen off then on again and my Tasker script disables and enables mobile data.

It's a common issue, people say ARHD eliminates the problem, not sure about that since im in love w/ franco and running AOKP milestone 2. Its a software issue, and will hopefully be fixed in the future. It happens irrespective of radios. toggling wifi on and off resets it 90% of the time
Also theres about 50 posts on this so please follow the rules you had to watch when you joined the forum and search next time.
Hello
I have finally decide to post about this problem because i have tried several things to fix it but cant isolate the problem.
Everytime im at home i use WiFi, not 3G. The problem happens when i go out of my house after several hours of being at home, and the problem is that, i can call, but i have no 3g signal and i have to put the phone on airplane mode on and off.
The weird thing is that this doesnt happen at my working building. The WiFi at home is protected with a wpa2 pass.
Things i have tried to fix this:
Install new ROM (deleting cache system sd card dalviak), original aosp, original kernel
If anyone can help me pls.
Best regards and thx

So I'm noticing a strange issue with wireless connection with mobile data. For a few days my phone was disconnected since I'm on Virgin mobile and didn't renew my account on time . During those few days I had no trouble connecting to my home WiFi. After adding funds and reconnecting my phone I'm currently unable to connect to my home WiFi network. I've tried restarting my phone, power cycling my router, disabling Connection Optimizer, soft resetting my phone, and forgetting and reconnecting to my network; all to no avail. When scanning for networks I'm able to connect but I get the message "Authencation error occurred".
I'm at the end of my rope since all I could find from google is just general troubleshooting tips that don't help at all.
As for my phone itself, I'm currently rooted, using stock TouchWiz (android 4.1.2) and Garwynn kernel 3.0.74 with Agats recovery. I also have Xposed Framework installed with a few tweaks added, but even after disabling them and removing the Xposed Framework completely the issue still persists. Has anyone else had similar issues or any idea what's going on?

Make a nandroid and a backup on you're PC.. Dirty flash ROM..if it boot loops or doesn't fix WiFi.. Restore backup.. If that doesn't fix.. A clean install should do the trick....if you have a backup already just use it.. Just a thought, as I've never had/seen this issue. Others my have better advice.. Hope this helped
I've already restored from a backup from when I had WiFi with no success. I really don't want to reflash unless there's no other way. I'll keep digging around on google and the forums and hopefully I can get this fixed without resorting to that

I think is hardware related since your WiFi was unable to turn on... Like previous S2. After they updated to ICS ROM, a battery leak which causes their WiFi to malfunction. And by the way. did you dropped your phone before?
See this blog:
http://www.stampede-design.com/blog/2012/07/samsung-galaxy-s2-wifi-issue/#.UoAu5XCD91Y
yes I did drop my phone previously but the malfunction does not follow that ...in both times.....previously and now the malfunction followed my discovery and usage of long touch on the WiFi icon in the sliding menu to reach the WiFi setting and choose network....any way the problem have been resolved previously by "more than firmware installation" as the service center worker told me ......I still do not understand what type of software that remain unchanged after complete firmware installation with re-partitioning.
