Hello everybody,
my galaxy nexus randomly loses mobile data. This issue is not present with wifi connection but only with mobile data.
The only solution is make a reboot and after that mobile data begins to work again.
I've tried to update radio (now i've got XL1) but the problem persist
I also flashed a new rom ARHD 2.1.3 and for now no problem but i've flashed yesterday, so I'm waiting to see if the problem is solved or not.
I read in the forum that i'm not the only one, any solution about this annoying issue?
thanks
Hi,
can confirm the same issue, overall signal seems very poor now I'm at ICL53F.
can you pls paste a link for ARHD Rom? i want to test it, but can't find it using search...
thank you

Do you use JuiceDefender?
Same happens here, and I exchanged my phone to see if it would stop. At least it hasn't happened as much. My advice would be to put a toggle on your homescreen for airplane mode. That always remedies it rather quickly and is a workaround until Google gets on it.

I second the Juicedefender guess. That app turns off my data routinely, causing a delay of up to 2-3 minutes waiting for it to re-connect. I had to get rid of it for that reason.

Nope,
i'm thinkg about to send my phone at samsung assistance, but i'm not the only one, i also think that google can fix that with a future update, but for now this problem is terribly annoying
I have similar issues but mine only started showing up since I started using Tasker to turn mobile data off when phone screen is off and turn back on when phone is unlocked.
One way I can get the data to work again is by turning aeroplane mode on then waiting around 5 seconds and then switching aeroplane mode off. That works for me. Another way I usually go about it is to switch my screen off then on again and my Tasker script disables and enables mobile data.

It's a common issue, people say ARHD eliminates the problem, not sure about that since im in love w/ franco and running AOKP milestone 2. Its a software issue, and will hopefully be fixed in the future. It happens irrespective of radios. toggling wifi on and off resets it 90% of the time
Also theres about 50 posts on this so please follow the rules you had to watch when you joined the forum and search next time.

Both my data and WiFi have been acting very strange the past week. Both services will show me as connected but I will only get the upload arrow showing on each indicator and then sometimes the icons just go gray. It has been happening very often and I have changed both my ROM and kernel on clean installs and I still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Bump. Still have the problem.
Flashing back to stock should work

I started a thread here on a topic where my wifi and signal bars turn gray and the phone doesn't have data connectivity any more. sometimes this happens a dozen or more times a day and sometimes once or twice.
one response in that thread indicated that 4.2.2 made a positive impact on the problem.
I've been searching for a definite fix for this data/WiFi issue to no avail. I'm not entirely sure of when this issue began to occur but my phone (Toroplus) constantly loses WiFi signal. By losing signal I mean WiFi will turn off and on all by itself. And yes, WiFi sleep policy is set to stay on always. This issue alone made me go back to stock only to find the WiFi issue is present there too. I've also ruled out my router as the culprit. Im suspecting this is a Google issue. By the way, I talked to a sprint store employee who owned a galaxy nexus and after a few minutes of playing with his phone, which was completely stock and never rooted, I noticed his WiFi connection would turn off and on all by itself too. Any insight from anyone with knowledge to this would be appreciated.
Wi-Fi optimization off. If that does not fix it, I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't fix it. Are you not having this issue? What's your setup? What ROM do you use? I've basically used all of them and it never goes away. I'm thinking of going to the HTC One when it's released just in case it's a Samsung issue.
I have also experienced this problem, especially at work where the network uses some WPA Enterprise variant. I've digged through logcats and can't find the problem either. A few Google Code forum posts talk about a possible bug introduced by network adapter manufacturers, or wpa_supplicant configuration issues. Haven't found a workaround yet, so I had to go back to 4.1.2, which seems to be stable.

The more I read on this subject the more I come to realize this is not specific to a certain device. The only common denominator that jumps out at me is jellybean. Seems like the issue is with Google, not hardware. Sucks that such a basic feature is not reliable out of the box. At least now I can understand why my buddy calls Android "buggy". Hopefully this is fixed sometime in the near future.
I am facing a very peculiar issue that makes my mobile internet dysfunctional. Whenever I switch from 2G/3G to WiFi and then switch back to 2G/3G from WiFi, the internet refuses to work unless I restart my phone. Once, the phone is restarted, it works like a charm again till the time I switch to WiFi again. Sometimes though, 2G/3G would not work even if I do not switch to WiFi. Also, rarely, it still may work even as I switch back from WiFi to 2G/3G. This issue has plagued me since a long time and is sometimes accompanied by call drops.
I took my phone to a Samsung Service centre but it wasn't of any use. They do nothing except reflashing the stock rom. It did fix the problem for a while but in an hour or in a day(or in some random time duration) the problem resurfaced. I took my phone to the service centre, just to get this problem fixed. I have tried switching between different modes in settings: GSM/WCDMA/auto etc
I also tried contacting my mobile carrier and got my sim card changed. Therefore, the mobile carrier is not at fault (Internet works flawlessly after I restart, remember?). How do I fix this? It is really irritating to restart the phone every time I need to use the internet. Please help! :-/
Maybe try flashing a different modem. I had various data and call issues on my i9300. After flashing 10 or so different modems I found one from aveuropean carrier worked best. Im in the uk btw

Thanks for replying thedadio!
But I've never flashed a modem before and have no clue which one to choose. Is it same as flashing a custom rom? Also, can I brick my device while flashing modems?
Yes its similar to flashing custom ROM. What ROM are you on and what modem are you on?
McLaren__F1, I am on stock 4.1.2. Also, I just tried flashing DDALJ1 modem (As I'm from India) and Perseus kernel. None of these steps helped me in any way. Still the same issues. :-/
Which is your network provider? I had the similar problems when I was on docomo..nw ported to airtel nd problem solved.
Btw did you try some other np's sim?

I am currently using Airtel (Prepaid). I haven't tried using any other np's sim though..
I have the exact same problem. I am with optus Australia. I tried different modems, different ROMs but all have the same problem. I have sent mine away to be replaced and am still waiting for the new one. Very frustrating problem.

I'm not sure if they'll replace mine. It has been almost 6 months since I bought it..
How do I solve this? Any clue anyone? :|
My Note2 does this sometimes & only fix is a restart.
try soft format may its helpful
Not a fix, but toggling airplane mode on and off does the job for me.
Interestingly this happens to me only when leaving one particular WiFi access point.

i got exatly same proplem, 3g not working after leaving wifi of my workplace, but when im home i have no proplems if i decide leave my home network.
could it be related to radio type wifi has?? my workplace still using old hardware with radiotype of .g and leaving that network "kills" mobile network and i need to reboot phone, but my home network is .n and im not having proplems after leaving it. if its related to wifis radiotype it should be easy for someone to write script which reboot mobile network after leaving those wifi networks.

No one has a solution for this problem on XDA?
Did you use the NFC to scan anything by any chance? I don't know if it could be related but my phone started to have issues around the same time I bought some NFC tags and started programming and scanning them.
I still haven't got my replacement phone back yet. But I'll let you know if it still has issues in my problem spots. Than we'll know if the problem was with the phone or just this model.

Nope! I haven't used NFC at all.
Ohh, okay..Eagerly waiting for your response! *Fingers crossed*
Tested replacement phone today and the problem seems to be gone. The signal was actually stronger than all my previous phones.
This issue could be a hardware problem as from what I have searched on the net it seams to affect only a few people. I just hope if I root the phone the problems don't come back.
Maybe you could try send it away for repair if they won't replace it.

Looks like I spoke too soon. The issues are still there. While waiting for my replacement phone I was using an old HTC wildfire and had no issues with the data connection so it must be an issue with this model.
Hello all,
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I've searched but couldn't find anything.
I have an Xperia S on regardless of what ROM I'm running I always encounter a problem whilst browsing over mobile data. WiFi is fine.
After I've browsed for a while, I'll get a message saying 'Unable to connect to the proxy server' or similar depending on the browser. Switching to a different browser doesn't help and the only way I can restore mobile data is to reboot the handset.
I've tried stock ROMs, FXP and now I'm running Slimbean 4.2.2 Build 5 with Kernel 3.0.67-EOS+ and every time I have had the same problem. I had this problem out of the box. This is my second handset after my first developed the yellow screen fault, but my first handset also had this proxy problem.
Hopefully one of you helpful folk can point me in the direction of something that might fix this problem.
Thanks a lot,
Ewar
I had that problem only with 4.2 roms. CM10 and stock/stock based are all fine. The only thing I could do to fix the problem was airplane mode toggle. It's faster and uses less battery than restating the phone...

Thanks for your quick reply and suggestion.
It's strange, but I've had the problem since I went from GB to ICS. I'm sure I've tried airplane mode back when it first happened, I've tried many things but the only thing that definitely works is a reboot.
It might just be me, but it seems like the speed at which the problem reoccurs is linked to the length of time the phone is in a shutdown state. If I do a reboot, the error will occur quicker than if I'd have shutdown the handset and left it for a few minutes before switching on. Of course, it could be a slow onset of insanity brought about by owning an Xperia S!

Quick Question : Is this only happening with the current service provider or every service provider?
I really think the problem maybe with the phone settings.
The service provider might be using a proxy channe.
Could you please try to edit the proxy data setting under the APN.
I hope this would solve the problem. I wonder how the proxy keeps popping out for you if the data works for sometime
I know this has probably been asked many times before but i can not find an acceptable answer. My WiFi will not automatically connect to known WiFi spots i know they are solutions to try like turning wifi optimisation on/off and you can always manually go into wifi and it will connect, but its not right it is not how it should work. I'm wondering if it is linked to hardware as in a certain batch of components not working properly with the software. Anyway is there a permanent proper fix other than flashing back to an early release. Also I have tried many 4.3 roms including stock and they are all the same

Had the same issue. Having success with a Tasker rule that turns off wifi for 1 minute when wifi connection is lost and then turns it back on. This seems to reset the wifi so when I return to a known wifi, there is a reconnect. At wost have to wake the device (hit the power button) and then wifi comes alive.

Thanks for help I've decided to go back to 4.2 for now. It really bugs me when something doesn't work as it should and refuse the 'workarounds' as a matter of principle. Does anyone know though if it is a hardware batch kind of problem as it just doesn't seem to make sense that some people have the problem where others do not. I hope 4.4 doesn't have the same issue.

Having the same issue here on my toroplus. I've noticed three different behaviors: automatically connects, connects right after screen turns on (before unlocking), and doesn't connect until I tell it to "Connect". I've read that some people have reported the issue on the Nexus 4, but I don't know if that means anyone is working on fixing it...but being on multiple devices, someone that can fix it ought to notice it, right? I hope so; it's definitely starting to annoy me too!
Its annoyed me to the point I think 4.3 is unusable. I have limited data usage and with my very useless memory I keep using it up as I've forgot to manually connect to WiFi. I've even tryed looking through all the system folders to see if I can edit some setting but I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Recently tried 4.3 again with the same problems as usual. Buuuut after a week of using it the WiFi issue seems to be fixing itself!?!?! More and more often its connecting by itself yet I have not changed a single thing. I am on stock unrooted 4.3. So maybe its just a case of a bit of patience.

No, I can't confirm that. I've been using 4.3 for at least 2 months and the issue hasn't fixed itself the least.
Hey everbody. this is my first post on here. and I have a really annoying issue.
OK, i bought an unbranded Galaxy Note II N7100 4.1.2 jelly bean couple of months ago and that issue seemed to be there since the beginning.
It's that when I'm connected to internet through mobile data on WCDMA, all of a sudden the "received" signal (orange arrow) won't flash any more while green arrow flashes every two seconds and i have no internet access no matter what i do, the only thing that can temporarily fix this is that i restart my phone and then the internet is perfect again for a not certain interval of time and then the issue happens again, it won't come back until i restart the phone again.
Sometimes it could stay for 12 hours before it happens and sometimes i could keep restarting my phone every five minutes, it's really annoying.
I've tried all the known tricks like hard reset, deleting all apps, i disabled so many services or apps that may cause this problem, I disabled all syncing apps, i deleted, re installed APNs, i changed my SIM card and finally i subscribed for another network provider and it still happens
I'm really at a loss, I don't know what causes this problem.
Is it a hardware issue? but if it was a hardware issue, it wouldn't work at all even after restart, right? is it some bug in the built-in 4.1.2 jellybean?
And i also may say that i receive calls normally, the WIFI works perfectly and the GSM mobile data works all the time no problems, it only happens on the WCDMA ONLY or the AUTOMODE.
The H , H+ or 3G sign is up there but the orange arrow all of a sudden won't flash and no internet access at all untill i restart the phone.and this issue may start to happen even if the mobile data is off all day and when i turn it on BOOM the issue seems to be there even before turning it on.
I hope you guys can help me with this...thanks
