I would suggest to to do it from odin. The symptoms you are having are of sds. Update asap or you might have a bricked phone.

Go to Sammobile.com and download latest rom and install using Odin on pc
scribbled from "the phab" (the note 2 -N7100)

Nonsense
The reason your red light is on due to having quick glance feature is enabled so sensor constantly monitoring when the device is in standby.
Yes it is similar but sds and red light remaining on is a differwnt matter.
On the other hand
Please dont wait for your ota update.
Get odin for pc and download latest stock rom (yes any country will be fine) and flash it. Make sure you have at least % 70 battery during flashing.
Once your countrys ota available 4.1.2 or beyond flash that one but really makes mo different. I am using Turkish latest rom on my UK device

Yes. It is happening to me. Sometime it reboot itself while I am browsing or viewing picture gallery.
Sometimes I cannot answer incoming phone calls when it rings. Touchscreen and all buttons do not work
while the phone rings. I just have to wait until the call becomes unanswered call.
I am on 4.1.2 DMB2 XME. I wonder if I change to other region ROM could help?
I hope it is not SDS even though I have the vulnerable eMMC chip.

I mean if the phone is still working and giving signs of failure then it can't be SDS. It would have to be sudden hence it's called Sudden Death Syndrome. Just follow the advice given above and flash install the latest ROM and you should be fine.

You are on a later rom. Did you flash your currwnt rom via odin ? Did you wipe ? If you did not backup your data (samsung account backs up your stuff but not always enough) and reboot in to recovery and wipe reset inc cache.
You ll be fine.

4.1.1 SDS means it cant be fixed? a download mode and flashing a rom wont work ?
Try that
If it is SDS, it won't work
Don't flash any custom stuff, which will raise flash counter and your warranty will void.
Download stock ROM from this thread and flash with odin
If it fail, just input odin log here

but how can it be SDS and its still i never downloaded any app or anything not even connected to wi fi and i just reset it and after i removed the battery it didn't start ! dont u think the software files are missing or something ? and a re flashing a rom would work ?
Thats makes it favour of SDS, if you have did something then it happens we have reason to believe. but when this happens spontaneously it favours SDS another bad sign is blinking red light while charging
Now try flashing firmware, if it fails at pit, then it confirms it is nothing but SDS only.
Make sure your phone isn't run out of battery

Put your phone in to rwcovery mode
Volume up home and power button
If you can and wipe/reset and wipe cache
I believe if its not sds this should work and I hope you can get it in to recovery mode
And first time it boots yes it stays at samsung logo for a little long time

Not 100% sure about it, but with SDS your device it is completelly dead. I guess only a motherboard replacement will fix it.

Unforyunately NO ! It can not be fixed. Only fix is mainboard change . If you can return it to service for repair and there is no signs of root on phone they will replace mainboard!

Well I wouldn't worry about being rooted or not at this point. While the SDS means a deceased motherboard, it will theoretically be impossible to check that, hence the replacement of the motherboard in case of SDS
That unless the data is else where stored, and samsung has to replace the mobo, assamble the phone and afterwards check for the root. which I bet they won't do
So if you have root you cannot do a factory reset from the options menu it will destroy your phone in some casses or all

I had my phone rooted and did countless of factory resets...never had any problem, but as you can see, with the SDS walking around anything is possible.

Hi,
I have Note 2. I was attempting to factory reset it (thru the Settings menu). Halfway in the resetting process, it just flashes the blue light and it got stuck there. Took out the battery and now, here I am not being able to switch it on nor enter thru the recovery mode (power+volume up+home key). is there anything that I can do now??
Thanks.

[Q] Note 2 is not responding

My note 2 GT-N7100 is not working at all. I have tried many methods trying to boot my note 2. Before the problem even started I tried to root my phone. I assume something went wrong during the process of rooting.
I tried to flash a stock rom many times via odin and also the rescue firmware didnt solve the problem from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5
I can only go to download mode I can't go to the recovery at all every time I try to do it my phone keep restarting and stuck on the firmware upgrade encountered an issue " the yellow tringle".
Kies didn't work.
What can I do? Please help me :crying:

So pit file doesn't work normal and recovery firmware doesn't work and you are stuck on update failed screen.
Except the last one I can only conclude it's an sds issue. But it's stuck on update failed.
Try a usb jig. If it resets counter then return it to service center.

N7100 does not boot past start up screen

Hi All,
Couple days ago I tried to flash my note2 with mobile odin back to stock rom but something went wrong and since I have not been able to get past the welcome screen *Samsung Galaxy Note 2*. I can get into a recovery screen but I am unable to choose a new rom to flash with.
I ve tried to flash it with odin 3.07 and via kies but no joy.
At this stage I am quite desperate to get this resolved. Can anyone help me?

True but i had to use Odin and every guideline said the filed had to color yellow while for me it stayed blue but i figured heck at the moment it's just a paperweight so I don't have a lot to loose.
Now Rooting it again and placing my nandroid back up back and I am all sorted.
Thank you again!

Did you ODIN or just flash a "stock" ROM? That's obviously a software glitch... Doing a stock ODIN would replace everything on the phone... if that doesn't work you can do a full factory reset from the dialer but that will wipe out EVERYTHING so I would only do that as a last resort.

[Q] problem updating througth OTA

Hello XDA:
i have had a little problem updating my n7100 with the last stock room througth OTA. i have my phone rooted, but with triangle away i havey status "normal". My phone download normaly the update (70 mb) and when i acept it, the phone restart and beguin to update. When my phone is around 25% it show a error (the icon show the android logo with a warning signal) and my note start again without any update.
Someone have the same problem? I know that i can update it with odin or samsung kies, but i prefere OTA (i have a lot of chooses and it will be a hard work to save)
Thanks in advance and my best regards!

+1 Same here.
Just forget the OTAs when you're rooted. I couldn't make OTA work on my Nexus 7 which is stock Google, and Samsung is way more complicated. Just find the right ROM on Samy mobile and flash via Odin. Easy as pie. You won't lose any apps or data or settings.
