[Q] Note 2 is not responding - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note 2 GT-N7100 is not working at all. I have tried many methods trying to boot my note 2. Before the problem even started I tried to root my phone. I assume something went wrong during the process of rooting.
I tried to flash a stock rom many times via odin and also the rescue firmware didnt solve the problem from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5
I can only go to download mode I can't go to the recovery at all every time I try to do it my phone keep restarting and stuck on the firmware upgrade encountered an issue " the yellow tringle".
Kies didn't work.
What can I do? Please help me :crying:

Sorry for my bad English. I hope you can understand me well.

So pit file doesn't work normal and recovery firmware doesn't work and you are stuck on update failed screen.
Except the last one I can only conclude it's an sds issue. But it's stuck on update failed.
Try a usb jig. If it resets counter then return it to service center.

But I soon found out when I restarted my phone it just stuck at the "samsung" logo.I tried to install a rom to resolve the problem but odin just kept showing that "FAIL". I reinstall a clockworkmod.tar by using odin( I don't know why I did that...><). But when it finished and restarted again it could no long turn on again. Can anyone help me with this problem? I just bought the phone yesterday and I already went to exchange for a new one couple hours ago, no sure tmobile would let me exchange it again. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Try pulling the battery and put it back in. Then try to boot download mode.
What rom did you try to flash? Where did you get the cwm.tar file you used?
Plug into the computer and check in device manager. Does it see anything?
If it says QHSUSB_DLOAD then I'm afraid your bricked.

Try flashing pit file.
And since your phone has counter raised it could be a problem...

Why you should flash rooting file, It doesn't do anything to recover device in any way, now you have raised counter and that voids warranty
As I think it is nothing but just SDS, and you have to send to service station
Question is how you can prevent device to enter in download mode to reclaim warranty.

how to check warranty
is ther any other wa using a software or something to make it work
See you most probably need to replace motherboard, i mean to say you have purchased with bill and still you have warranty?
If you have warranty then again big question is your flash counter is raised so they will reject your warranty claim
If you don't have warranty and then just send to service station, you need to pay for that.

You have to extract it and flash with pit tab of odin

4.1.1 SDS means it cant be fixed? a download mode and flashing a rom wont work ?
Try that
If it is SDS, it won't work
Don't flash any custom stuff, which will raise flash counter and your warranty will void.
Download stock ROM from this thread and flash with odin
If it fail, just input odin log here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696

but how can it be SDS and its still i never downloaded any app or anything not even connected to wi fi and i just reset it and after i removed the battery it didn't start ! dont u think the software files are missing or something ? and a re flashing a rom would work ?
Thats makes it favour of SDS, if you have did something then it happens we have reason to believe. but when this happens spontaneously it favours SDS another bad sign is blinking red light while charging
Now try flashing firmware, if it fails at pit, then it confirms it is nothing but SDS only.
Make sure your phone isn't run out of battery

While Sds is likely, a faulty battery can be the cause too.

Put your phone in to rwcovery mode
Volume up home and power button
If you can and wipe/reset and wipe cache
I believe if its not sds this should work and I hope you can get it in to recovery mode
And first time it boots yes it stays at samsung logo for a little long time

Not 100% sure about it, but with SDS your device it is completelly dead. I guess only a motherboard replacement will fix it.

Unforyunately NO ! It can not be fixed. Only fix is mainboard change . If you can return it to service for repair and there is no signs of root on phone they will replace mainboard!

Well I wouldn't worry about being rooted or not at this point. While the SDS means a deceased motherboard, it will theoretically be impossible to check that, hence the replacement of the motherboard in case of SDS
That unless the data is else where stored, and samsung has to replace the mobo, assamble the phone and afterwards check for the root. which I bet they won't do
So if you have root you cannot do a factory reset from the options menu it will destroy your phone in some casses or all

I had my phone rooted and did countless of factory resets...never had any problem, but as you can see, with the SDS walking around anything is possible.
This is getting a bit silly.

Hi,
I have Note 2. I was attempting to factory reset it (thru the Settings menu). Halfway in the resetting process, it just flashes the blue light and it got stuck there. Took out the battery and now, here I am not being able to switch it on nor enter thru the recovery mode (power+volume up+home key). is there anything that I can do now??
Thanks.

Bricked?

Hello, so today i was getting a play market error so i decided to flash another recovery, as mine is the earliest versions of TWRP, so i went ahead and flashed it with Odin. It was successful, but wouldn't boot into recovery. So i went ahead and tried to flash another recovery and now it says NAND write fail. Is it bricked ?
It still boots to 4.2.2 AOSP, but i have no root so can't flash recovery.
I AM OFFICIALLY SCREWED !
After getting out of download mode, it wouldnt boot anymore. Firmware upgrade issue. !
I would say buy a usb jig from eBay. Much faster and cheaper than anything else. It forces the phone to go to download mode and from then you can go to Odin and flash stock.

Edit: I found it but it's 1.6 GB.. Waiting 10mins
Edit: Weird, but after trying to flash top 3 famous recoveries, they all failed. So i went back and flashed the original recovery and it succeeded!
Thanks for your help, i'll have to figure out how to flash a useable recovery now >.>

if you can get into d/l mode, you have it whipped.
Here's the TWRP 2.5.0.2 file:
https://hotfile.com/dl/230303459/7ce1553/openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.2-jfltexx.tar.html
Install with ODIN.
Steps to follow........
Method #1 -
Place file in PDA box*
Uncheck all other boxes.
Press start.
When installation is complete, unplug usb cord and pull the battery.
Insert the battery but Don't turn on the phone.
Place phone in Recovery mode via the Power + Volume up buttons.
Method #2 -
The other way I've read to install TWRP Recovery is:
Place the TWRP 2.5.0.2 tar in the PDA box*
Check the auto reboot box and f time reset box.
Start the installation and let the phone reboot.
I believe Method #2 is the method of choice, but sometimes the Recovery doesn't take, so Method #1is recommended.
Here is an explanation why:

Help bricked device in emergency firmware recovery mode!!!

So basically here's the back story, I downloaded cwm for my friends galaxy grand i9082, and I flashed it in odin, I did everything but for some reason the flash failed at "nand write start" and now all I can do is either go into download mode or, if I just press the power button, it goes into kies emergency firmware recovery mode. I really don't know what to do, is there any way to fix this without connecting to kies?? And if I have to to the emergency firmware recovery will it erase all the data on the phone?? Please help!!

This could have happened because of communication problems or driver problems, usually this happens when your device get disconnected during the process.
Or you try to flash Philz Recovery via Odin..Go tho this link and download the latest http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9082
If you can successfully install this recovery(any CWM recovery), you can boot back in..
If that fails,
Download the original stock firmware for GT-I9082 and flash it via Odin. (I recommend dont go for the latest build of JB 4.2.2)
