Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 Wireless Charging Problem - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hi Experts,
I got the Samsung Galaxy S3 from Verizon. I want to buy a Wireless Charging Kit for my Phone.
I did my research on the Internet, Ebay, Amazon.
All I saw was, the wireless charger, from Palm is about 5-7 Dollars and priced economically.
But I don't know how effectively will it work?
Also, what is the best alternative case that is out there in the market if I'm using this, wireless charger?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks & Peace.

The palm charger won't work at all. You need to find a qi compatible charger.

The Palm setup WILL work, with some modifications to the receiver that goes under your battery cover. I know because I'm using it on mine and my gf's s3's. I'm in the process of building the touchstone into a custom tray in my car. Just read through the accessory forum for the s3. There are a couple of diys on using the Palm wireless charging stuff. You can even buy a battery for on eBay that a guy does the mod on for you so all you need is to buy the battery door from him and a Palm touchstone and you're in business. Do more looking, the answers are out there

it won't work for the OP because he's using qi standard while what you're doing is using touchstone standards.
to answer the op's question, no the touchstone charger will not work with the verizon wireless charging back.

As I understood his original post, he hasn't bought the Verizon charging cover yet in which case he could use the touchstone setup for a lot less money.

oops. misread on my part.
Then it's as alex said.
there are several guides in this forum that gives you a step by step to do the touchstone mod. but one thing to note is that depending on parts, it can block NFC.
I personally have the Qi kit (search ebay for i9300 qi wireless) and i am able to retain all the functions of my phone. (if you're going qi, then check out my post in the stickied thread about some questions that were asked and also some examples of brands and products out there)

Wireless Charging

With news that the Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb is being release in February, I'm curious to know if anyone has tested out this ability on their LGOG..... If specs are very similar to the Nexus 4, would the Charging Orb work....
It would be sweet to get this or some sort of wireless charger for our LGOG :fingers-crossed:
won't work
There has to be a wireless adapter usually on the back of the battery door for it to work. Unfortunately the nexus 4 has it, and the LGOG doesn't.
Some companies make aftermarket adapters for popular phones, however with a so called "non-removable" battery, it doesn't seem likely for us. But we can hope...

I tried to remove it. But its glued to the back of the screen. Didn't want to mess up the battery. LOL.

I read somewhere that with a little ingenuity and a soldering iron you could essentially make the OG compatible. Having never soldered anything in my life I ignored it, but try googling that if you feel capable of doing something like this.
I wonder how easy it would be to install the Palm Pre's touchstone coil in this phone, or if it's possible to install the Qi charging coil from an N4.....
I was wondering the same thing. I looked in the service manual and it seems that the same 2 powerpoints are on the Samsung Galaxy S 3 are also on this device. Can anyone confirm that these 2 points to the right of the battery are for charging contacts?

I have a couple of touchstones around somewhere. My biggest fear for this mod would be the pressure from coil pushing on the inside of the glass back.

So I know this isn't exactly what you guys want, but it may be worth a shot.

Are you talking about under the battery door? If so those are for NFC

[Q]Nokia DT-900 Wireless Charging Plate

Hi Guys,
I just bought a Samsung Note 2 and wonder if I setup the wireless charging mod for Note 2 will it be possible to use Nokias wireless charging plates (DT-900 and and DT-910)? Thanks

Anyone?

I have both. It didnt work in default state.
Im kinda afraid to do the soldering part. Is there a clean guide to do it without any hassle?
Link me to that, and i'll try.
Good question I too also would like to kmow if its possible to use my touchstone charger for hp touchpad

Do you mean the wireless charging mod? There is actually a video showing how to do it without the need of soldering. I'll find it and post it for you man. Hopefully you will be able to try out the Nokia chargers.

Has anyone tried it yet? It would be very interesting, if the DT-910 works for the Note II with mod.

Does the GS3 work with that Nokia Wireless Charger pad?

Assuming you have the back cover with the induction shiz. Anyone know if this will work?
if it's a qi receiver then yes. does not work with powermat or touchstone backs

Sweet, going to pick one up then.
Any recommendation for the back thing? Zen or the Verizon one?
check the stickied thread about qi wireless chargers. the 2nd post is mine that shows the various different versions and such.
the one i have fits underneath the battery door but causes a slight bump so you'll need a case that is more rigid (aka not the soft silicone ones)
Interesting, my GS3 works perfectly with a palm touchstone charger with a back cover purchased on ebay. And with a nifty nfc tag to enable dock mode, it is a perfect solution for me (and cheap).

the touchstone mod will work just fine, it just has to be paired w/ the touchstone charger.
None of the standards are intercompatible yet. So if you have the touchstone, it will only work w/ touchstone products. Same with powermat only working with powermat products. and finally qi working with only qi products.

Inductive Charging Mod

Feelin like a boss, have an extended battery cover... I don't like the idea of prying apart my GalNex though...
Could I wire the inductive coil to the battery directly? Like stuck them between the battery and phone contact pins? Not a good, sturdy solution, but I just don't like the idea of phone disassembly...
I also thought of making an inductive case that connects to the Pogo pins externally....
thoughts?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I think some people have done the inductive case before; it shouldn't be too difficult. That said, I don't think attaching it to the battery is a good idea.
For what its worth, the disassembly for this mod was not hard. Just take it slow -- you don't actually have to start undoing ribbon cables and the like for this one, you can do all the parts with copper tape (until you solder the tape to the coil, but that doesn't touch your phone.)
Curious about this. Let us know what you do.
Keep me updated, sounds awesomenessesseesssss

I would love a case like that

You could but you shouldn't. That would bypass the battery charging protection circuit.

I have an (expensive :/) Incipio two-layer case... Thinking maybe I could put the coil and magnets in between the silicone inner layer and hard shell outer layer...
I'm open to suggestions, I'm a little uncertain about getting the wires to line up with the pogo pins...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I just don't like the idea of taking my phone partially apart... This is a guy who takes just about everything else apart, but I feel like phones are particularly fragile, you say be careful, I say I can't upgrade if this one bites the dust.
In the end though, I don't *need* inductive charging.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I started a mod like this on an iPhone 4 that would no longer charge. I was going to have to wire directly to the battery and that was a concern. If I had another good coil and charger, I would certainly give it a go. I've taken many phones apart and never have issues. Were you using the coil from a Palm device?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I haven't actually done anything with it, but I have the Palm Touchstone setup, coil and all.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
That's what I was figuring. The mod I did was using one of those external battery power pack deals that worked with the energizer pads. I had to rip it apart for the coil but could still use as an external battery charger through the USB ports. I just don't have the pad to test my work. Ugh.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Oh that's a good idea, get an external battery case... Generally that's an iPhone-only ordeal.
Is it for Touchstone or Qi? Apparently the two are incompatible.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well, the case would have been the easier solution but it would no longer charge through the port so a hard mod straight to the battery was necessary. What I used was just a rechargeable external battery with wireless charging that had a micro USB cable to plug into phones and also a micro USB port to recharge while away from the power pad. I didn't have the pad so the coil wasn't important to me. I just hardwired straight to the battery but don't have a pad to make sure it's working. I just reassembled the battery and can still use it as I always have with cables. I only bought it for emergencies for times away from outlets. It was an energizer battery pack.

Powermat charger not working

So my friend gave me his old Powermat, (pre duracell) with the two charging stations. Tried for about 10 minutes to get it to charge, but no luck. The charger claims it is Qi standard. My nexus charges great with the official charger and with a knockoff as well.
Any ideas/experiences?

This one.
Don't see in the link where it's qi compatible
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Those aren't Duracell, Powermat is the name of the company. Their products aren't Qi compatible, you need a receiver to use it. That's why they're going so cheap on ebay.
Powermat uses different technology, so it is never compatible with Qi.
What the others have said, powermat isn't qi compatible. That's why it doesn't work.
