I would like to start a list of Kernels for Jelly Bean 4.2.2. I will start with the one that I have been using:
4.2.2 PIRATES ED. (EXPERIMENTAL)

I agree...
This is actually going to end up confusing people because it will imply the kernel will work on 4.2.2 regardless of its GPU binaries which is not true.

exactly
Thew new 4.2.2 ROMs should implement the new binaries but that's not the case at moment, not custom kernel problem.

The binaries haven't even been merged to CM yet. This pointless thread is going to cause more trouble than help.

Sorry if this has been talked about already but i was just wondering if there was any news on the official JB release for sprint Galaxy Nexus.......
No news for CDMA nexus devices yet. Sometime in Q3 or Q4 is likely.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Nope. CDMA users are still waiting for Verizon/Sprint to confirm and release the updates. Just curious, why don't you just flash Jelly Bean ROM? it'll be much quicker..
Some people need new radios....

The current radios work fine. "Need" and "want" are different things.

Nah I would be glad when the official ota comes. Could help with that fact CDMA phones have issues with the proprietary applications and deep sleep such as my case. I can't seem to get deep sleep on any aosp built or based ROMs other than CM10. I don't know what it is exactly but deep sleep is fine on cm10 but aokp... aosp not a chance. I would hope that would be fixed in the official release.

Maybe I'm speaking for Verizon customers only then. Some may want, but others definitely need.

Hey guys I'm a Nexus retread. Just wondering what the VZ JB 4.2 rom is. Thanks!

At least from XDA? mROM 3.2 if you want the closest stock ROM without any mods. (Which I'm personally running)
MMUzzy's Jelly Bean is my next choice, stock feel with some extra additions thrown into the mix.

This is answered the same every time it's asked. Try several and see what works best for YOU. Everyone doesn't want the same features in a ROM. Some want stock and others want customization. Read the forums look at the screen shots and flash whatever peaks your interest. If you don't like it flash something else. Just be sure you make a backup just in case something wonky happens.
As for a suggestion, I am currently on Xylon V11+Zen kernel V12.

What does this mean for the 4.2.2 ROMs out there? Would the developers use the new code to improve the ROMs? Or does it not make any differrence?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I'm pretty sure they announced that it's the same 4.2.2 build as the leak, so I don't think it should matter too much aside from the radios.

The radios were in the leaked build, so there's literally no change.
Am I the only one that's thirsty for a Google Edition S 3?
Anybody think it would be actually possible to port a 4.2.2 (Google Edition S 4) ROM to our S3?
There both based on 4.2.2, just a thought! I flashed the Google Edition S 4 ROM and it said optimizing xx/88 apps so some things have to be compatible with our ROM!

The whole ROM didn't flash, like no changes.. I did a dirty flash and it said optimizing apps.
Not sure what apps it flashed.
Why though? Its a touchwiz ROM with touch wiz framework with aosp looks and apps, there are like 5 different ROMs for outlr phone like that already...

4.3 Google Edition ROM got leaked, it even got ported to the T-Mobile GS 4.
What are the new features. And it won't happen for a port for us. But AOSP 4.3 will be pushed soon then

Why won't it happen? Porting 4.3 or 4.2.2 isn't possible?
I'm not sure about the new features, It's still Jelly Bean that's all I know.
So has anyone got 4.3 running on our device?

It's not possible because the TW Kernel source is not available. Therefore, the devs cannot create a working kernel to support 4.2.2 TW on our phone (or 4.3 for that matter).
Isn't the "Google Edition" just a complied AOSP build for said device? You could just built it for the d2tmo from the sources.
EDIT: I was thinking of the Nexus series devices, I believe that they are straight AOSP.

Nope, Google Edition still has Touchwiz in it.
Google Edition isn't pure AOSP.

People already have ported 4.2.2 and 4.3 Google Edition which both have Touchwiz in them though.
Even though the Kernel Source isn't available, they've still been ported..

Do research before you actually think it's a bad idea.
It's Touchwiz with Touchwiz removed, only a small piece of TW is in it, rest is AOSP.

I doubt it, I only see log entries for nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 running 4.4 - Though now I am seeing slightly different builds i.e. KRT10F instead KRT10C

Nexus 10 4.4 KRT13
Nexus 5 4.4 KRT10F

in fact it's not suprise that our GN not receiving 4.4...but still feel a little bit disappointed when knowing that
My two cents...I would be very surprised if we don't get 4.4 officially. It is technically a minor version bump.

...Not as minor as 4.2 -> 4.3. UI drastically changed (not just the launcher) and they decided to make a universally available Launcher called Google Experience, so you see Google is determined to make KitKat a large step forward.
But yeah, based on this point (universal, unified experience) and Google's saying of "making the best experience for everyone", I can say that we're going to get KitKat in one way or another (I don't personally care if Google decides no official release, AOSP is always there). Plus, who said we need 3.4 or even 3.8 kernels to run it (any RELIABLE sources)? Many older devices run JB 4.1 and even 4.2 nicely with 2.6.xx kernels. Many 3.4, 3.8 and even 3.1x features are being backported too.

I'm surprised that you're this delusional, personally I'm planning to rollback to 4.1, the recent versions of android is just too choppy for my liking, ram management is horrible too.

Well, I have had nothing but a well-running Nexus on 4.3 for the last little while, so it really sucks to hear you're having problems. I appreciate a discussion here, but starting off a reply by calling someone "delusional" seems a bit rude and harsh, no?

Look i don't know about Linux Kernel, etc..
But i just saw that the 3.8 is officially discontinued.
3.4 is continued until October 2014.
So i think the next Kernel version for Android will be the 3.10 (long term: until September 2015) not 3.8.
By the way....a Nexus 5 with 3.10 kernel would be pretty nice. But it seem it will be 3.4.
Source
I remember when 3.0 was released (after the 2.6.39), Linus Torvalds said exactly this:
"So what are the big changes? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. Sure, we have the usual two thirds driver
changes, and a lot of random fixes, but the point is that 3.0 is
*just* about renumbering, we are very much *not* doing a KDE-4 or a
Gnome-3 here. No breakage, no special scary new features, nothing at
all like that. We've been doing time-based releases for many years
now, this is in no way about features. If you want an excuse for the
renumbering, you really should look at the time-based one ("20 years")
instead."
I post that, only to say that sometimes numbers mean nothing..3.4 is a stable kernel, there isn't a big difference that you can see in the daily use with 3.10..really
Lets pray, for kitkat on our phone..!!!

I thought the new nexus an kitkat would have been launched by now, everything has gone quiet now an the hype has gone, iOS7 is keeping me amused for now, the kitkat screenshots look like google got a lot of their inspiration from apple an iOS7, just hope the nexus 5 is as good if not better than iPhone 5s.
