I got my Nexus 4 yesterday, so I'm going to unroot my Bell S3 and return to the original firmware so I can sell it.
I rooted using odin, apparently in a manner that does not trip the flash counter thing. Not too sure about this.
Can anyone tell me, or provide with a link to a guide on how to unroot the S3?
Also is there is an easy way to unlock the S3?
I read here that you can do it for free. Does anyone know if this works/still applies?
If you flash a stock firmware you lose root. Try flashing the finding a stock firmware that you require for that and try it.

let me tell you something, it cant hurt to factory reset the phone and try to sell it as it is. when i got my S3, i reset my rooted S2 running AOKP's Jelly Bean and had it sold in under a week...for good money. the buyer didnt care that it was rooted. some want to tether. others prefer a stock android look to TW. you have options. cheers

Hi there.
This is my first time rooting my GS3 SGH-I747, and I couldn't finish rooting it completely. So I tried it again, and it didn't work. Then I went searching on how you un-root and such, then I found this thread and followed it (I think it resets your phone to stock?), I'm not sure. Anyways, now I just want to get my phone back to the way it was before I did all of this. I think I've got to reset my custom binary counts and set the system status to 'normal' instead of 'custom/modified'. I was wondering how you do this? Also, I was wondering if once you root your phone will it always stay rooted or can you reset that so it's like it never happened (as if I didn't even do anything to my phone). I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say/ask. Thanks and the help is very much appreciated.
The thread is about stock rooted ROM. You can always undo root. You need to flash an unrooted stock rom

1st of all, THANKS to the OP for posting in the correct area!! Not many 'noobs' do that...
2nd I think the guys above ^^^ gave you some spot on information to follow/use.
3rd - Thanks to everyone for not flaming the OP into oblivion for asking an honest question. You guys were genuinely helpful! Rock On!!
Hi everybody,
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything. Perhaps I'm simply searching using the wrong keywords?
Anyway, I have a rooted SGS3 with ClockworkMod installed, and I would like to completely wipe it and install the official Jelly Bean upgrade.
In my limited experience roothing android devices, I bricked a kindle by installing a official rom after rooting it, so before I try anything I figured I'd ask here before doing something stupid.
Is there a way to keep the phone rooted and install the official upgrade?
Is there instructions to upgrading a rooted SGS3 to jelly bean somewhere that I've missed?
Thanks for any help, sorry again if this is a noob question, I'm really just scratching the surface of rooting, still a bit confused.

That will help you flash the new stock 4.1.1 image and root it.
I couldn't find any ROMs that were completely stock and rooted.
The NEW Samsung Kies has the option of wiping your device and restoring it to 4.1.1

Honestly, and I don't want this taken the wrong way, but I would NEVER recommend using Kies for anyone. I have heard too many horror stories. ODIN is way more trusted.

Why never... i use Kies for everything longest i'm on stock and neet to get back to stock. Never had any bad expirance with Kies. I think most of horror stories you heard is user error not Kies.
BTW. Odin works to..

Hello,
I am currently searching how to root my Koodo Galaxy SIII i747M running stock 4.1.2 downloaded via OTA about two months ago. I know there is a lot of tutorials on how to do this but they never refer to Koodo and I don't want to take any chances. I'd like to just root it without installing a custom rom or anything, i just want to freeze some apps such as the updater always trying to install 4.3 and try some root features. If I root can i go back to stock while keeping the warranty and if yes, how? Is my flash counter (is it called like that?) going to change if I root? How can I root my Koodo s3?
Thanks.
You can use the same procedure as for the at&t version of the phone. They are virtually identical. Not sure about the flash counter as I've never worried too much about that.

Do the steps outlined in that post. It also works for koodo make sure you download the correct file. This will not trip flash counter.
And yes you can always flash back to stock at a later date if you want.

Worked perfectly! Thank you!
I saw that the galaxy s4 Verizon version have this safestrap recovery, why there is no tmobile s4 safestrap? Thanks.
Short answer: because we don't need it. The M919 already has an unlocked bootloader which allows us to replace the stock recovery with custom builds such as CWM and TWRP.
Also, nb4lock.

Well as far as I know the jelly bean 4.3 update comes with Knox which has a locked bootloader. And you can't downgrade, check out this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544503 that's why asking if there is a safestrap for Tmobile Galaxy S4.

I am interested in someone answering this question - I am selling off by i337 and have bought m919. Will appreciate if someone explains because I read that m919 has Knox, but when I asked I was told its ok to flash recoveries. It confuses me
Basically knox is there to void your warranty. You can root, flash new kernels, and ROMS, but it will flag knox. Doesn't mean you can't do it, it just means that you'll no longer be able to send your phone back to samsung or tmo for warranty service. Flash away!
I tried safestrap while I was on 4.3 just to mess around and it worked fine for me, but as mentioned you don't need it.

So you was on 4.3 with Knox locked bootloader and try safestrap, but you said we don't need it like they said above because the bootloader is unlocked, so that means you have an unlocked bootloader with the 4.3. I don't get it .
Also how you installed safestrap
I found the instructions on the Verizon S4 forum

Well as far as I know you can root it with a locked bootloader but you void Knox Warranty 0x1. Or I'm wrong that's what I read.
Only if you flash a custom recovery or rom then yes you get 0x1

So what do you do to your phone so far
I never upgraded to the full 4.3 firmware, so I'm free to flash any ROM and GSM modem as long as I don't flash the 4.3 or 4.4 LTE modems. Those LTE modems are tied to KNOX and render your phone basically useless if you don't flash the full firmware. But, even if you do flash the full firmware with KNOX, you can still root and flash recovery. The consequence is that the KNOX counter will be tripped and Samsung or T-Mobile will take note of this if the device is ever returned for repair or replacement because tripping KNOX voids your warranty.
KNOX doesn't prevent root or lock your bootloader. Because I never upgraded to KNOX enabled firmware, I can still send my device back at no cost to myself for a warranty claim if I ever need to do so.
I installed six axis controller app to play GTA San Andreas with my PS3 controller, install Xposed to do some modding on my phone

Hi guys,
I'm trying to root my t-mobile G4, but before that I would like to clear some of my questions.
say I have rooted my G4 and installed custom ROM and wanted to go back to pure stock, would it allow me to OTA then?
I only ask because I've owned Samsung devices with Knox and once knox is tripped OTA is permanently disabled even going back to factory stock.
This is my first LG device, besides nexus 4 and 5, I own and wondering if this is possible.
Thank you in avance and I'd give big thanks to for those who answer.
That is why I kind of liked nexus devices, never had to worry but wanted to try something else other than pure android.
Sry for commenting on ur post . But is there any one who can suggest me a custom rom for htc desire 526 G PLUS

You should be able to KDZ (this is like odin) back to full stock, this would make your device like it was out of the box, no root all bloat. Then you can OTA to your hearts content. Be warned, if you revert and OTA, you may not Be able to root or roll back so you can.
You can find the stock KDZ in the region and section, Autoprime has them posted.

Yes, I'm aware OTA and rooting are enemies. I asked because when I sell my phone in swappa, i've had better luck with fully stock, OTA ready than rooted/custom rom'ed.
Thanks for everything, I now can root peacefully.
