[Q] Installing Custom Roms - HTC One X

ok soo ive had time to finally sit down and start installing custom stuff to my hox. I went through all the steps to set it up and ive unlocked booloader, and instaled custom recovery.
I went to go flash a rom lets just say android revolution but i havent decided which yet. Im alittle confused about the instructions.
it turns out my HOX is s-off (it says s off on the top of bootloader screen). and my CID is 11111111 and my hboot is 1.39.
So these are my qs:
-What does s-off really mean? Does it let me skip any steps or does this matter.
-Why is my CID like that? After looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140, I don't see my CID listed. Did i get like a fake HOX or something? (When i go through the setup it doesn't let me uncheck the "provide annonymous info to HTC" agreement because it says my device is a test device if that helps...)
-What is a "Proper HBOOT version for Jelly Bean based ROM"? (This is from te Andoid revolution HD instructions) I think I have a correct HBoot but idk what im supposed to be looking for
This isnt my first time installing custom roms but it was much more simple with my old phones than this. I dont wanna eff anything up cause I cant afford to get another beautiful hox
Thanks in advance for the help guys :good:

- S-off is security off, you can flash complete roms from the recovery, no need to flash the boot.img with fastboot commands.
- your cid is kinda special, you are able to change it to any regio cid becase your phone is s-off. Its a lucky thing id say.....
- the proper hboot for JB are all hboots from 1.31 up to 1.39
You can put a rom onto the sdcard and perform a full wipe and then install the new rom.zip. you do not need to flash the boot.img seperatly like we have to do with s-on devices.....
Hope this helps

ok so i just ignore the boo.img stuff cause i dont need to flash it... sounds good makes life a bit simpler almost like flashing on my old phone . as for CID, if i change it to any old regular one can I change it back? is there any advantage to changing it? what does CID actually mean... also what does hboot mean/do? Im only interested in JB roms so i shouldnt have to worry about that right?

If you only want to install JB custom roms you dont need to change anything......flash away i dont know too much about changing the cid. But you are pretty much able to run all software from every country. Like mine cid is european so i can only flash the european software to it. You are able to change the cid so you are also able to flash official asian software and the bootloader is sort of the bios from a pc....

Need Help Getting Phone to Boot!

Hey Guys,
I'm reaching the point of frustration now. To try and cut a long story short, I had the Android Revolution 6 ROM on my rooted/unlocked HTC One X, and decided to update it to Android Revolution 13. I followed all the instructions, went to boot it, and it just sat on the HTC logo for an hour at which point I knew something went wrong. I repeated the steps, including wiping data using super wipe, without success either. I then decided to just select the "Factory reset" option on the boot menu, but this has also failed to boot after 30 minutes. I can also no longer boot into recovery. I've tried reloading CWM and other recovery ROM's onto the phone, but the phone resets as soon as they load.
At this point, I just want to get some form of OS on my phone. My phone is Unlocked, S-ON and has a CID of OPTUS001. I don't know if Factory reset will work if the phone is unlocked. It's all very time consuming as you normally don't know if the boot process has locked until you've waited ~20 minutes. I can't find my original ROM from when I bought the phone either, so I assume I need to obtain another one from somewhere, but I don't have any idea about CID compatibility, etc, and I'm finding this all very confusing and frustrating. All help is much appreciated. I have a feeling I need to replace my boot.img with a stock boot.img, but once again, where do I get that?
Thanks
the phone doesn't boot because you don't have the latest firmware installed, you need HBOOT 1.31 but you can't install it cause your CID is not compatible with it, you sjould go back to ICS and wait...
Did you load new firmware 1.31? This firmware is not compatible with Your CID... Did You read carefully this thread — http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
Sent from HOX with ARHD 13
You forgot that you need to update the firmware to 1.31.
You can also just install ARHD 9.7.2. Ensure you have the latest CWM 5.8.4.0
faatboot flash recovery recovery.img
and then flash the boot image:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
And then copy the ROM on using recovery mount USB and flash it.
Thanks for all the help guys. I managed to get a stock recovery.img back onto the phone, and by re-locking the phone I was able to use the latest Optus RUU from htcruu.com.
So at least I've now got a working phone again.
Moving onto why ARHD didn't work, I had no idea about the firmware 1.31 compatibility requirement. I thought all HTC One X's were created equal. I didn't know about this CID nonsense. Can someone explain how I find out when my phone's CID becomes compatible, or perhaps a way to change my CID or some other means of getting Jelly Bean onto my phone. Apologies for being a noob.

ONE X going crazy, need help A.S.A.P

Before anyone gets to be smart ass, I have already tried searching forums. Searched google for quite a bit as well. Spent couple hours on the subject matter but still couldn't fully understand everything so that's why I am asking questions here.
I have gotten hold of a HTC one X which is acting up. Freezes up, screen goes all haywire, things get mixed up, screen banding. From what I have gathered it is on a custom rom ORDROID. I want to simply make it go back to stock rom and if not possible then to cyanogen rom. But the priority is to get back to stock rom and see if it fixes things up. I am a Galaxy series Owner where things r not complicated , HTC is not my forte. Please just guide me to a simple procedure it will be very appreciated.

Android Version : 4.1.1
Software number : 11.1.2
HTC SDK API : 4.63

build number : 3.14.401.27

I believe phone is rooted and recovery is installed as well.
Quick reply with simple instructions and minus the sarcasm will be loved
PS: Any unbranded GSM English ROM will be fine.
well since you're rooted already and have cwm , I'd suggest you simply try and flash another Rom , there's a guide how to flash them easily in every roms thread by dev who made it. shouldn't be too hard , just don't forget to erase cashe. gl.
You say you 'got hold of it', which implies it wasn't yours from new. Check with whoever you purchased it from as to which original firmware it was on

Why you didn't search the four... ok you did that, but how about Googli... ok you did that as well. How about understandin... ok you couldn't (joking here).
Your first sentence made me laughing when I read it, and yes it really starts getting out of control with those smarties (at least on HOX forums).
Sorry for the OT, now to your problem. I'll give you some guidelines and you could search the rest, which I don't consider it as a problem in your case.
* If your boot loader is unlocked, lock it first (you could find the guide here, and also posted many times on JB threads).
*(Skip this part and move to the next one) Download your RUU from here http://www.htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor or from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/ (provided by [email protected]).
* I think this RUU is the right one for your, http://www.htcruu.com/securekey.php...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe
* Install it.
That's all & Good luck.
Happy Christmas
Note: if you read the word [email protected] it doesn't mean you are rooted.
I relocked my bootloader and tried installing your rom but it is not installing, also i can't boot the phone anymore, it goes back to Hboot screen, did i miss something, was there a file to load before relocking the bootloader ?
hey guys. one of my firends is having a problem like this but woth one difference: he is on stock rom and unrooted..in short he has done donthing with his phone but experiencing almost the same problem said above. how can we fix this?

Try also installing CWM Recovery and do what neuTrue says.
sorry for noobing but i am all unfamiliar with one x and especially htc's so about this bootloader, it says *** LOCKED *** and ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL below that. should i assume that bootloader is locked (because of ***locked*** thing) or is it unlocked (s-on)?

you dont need cwm to install the ruu. actualy you need to relock the bootloader if it isnt allready locked.
then you need to find out the correc ruu for your phone
fastboot getvar version-main this command should tell what version is the correct for you
i have a question. this phone is on stock rom, and as far as i understand we are flashing a "custom" stock rom.
but what is the difference? why does htc make a rom with major problems like these? and can we fix these problems better than htc?
hope this rom fix this problem, cuz its very annoying.. :s

[Q] Desire HD cannot enter bootloader..

I have rooted and have Ace Pvt Eng S-off using AAHK.. fyi, mine is GB shipped, but fortunately pseudo eng boot is working fine..
The problem is when i have flash custom ROM viper and set it up everything, when i enter hboot, i and enter fastboot in the dropdown in hboot menu, after i select bootloader, it scan for a while and it shows message "[PD98DIAG.nbh] No image or wrong image!" or something like that, it is blinking very fast..
But, the phone itself is working, and boot viper very well.. so my question is, do i need to bother putting the right image inside directory somewhere in the sdcard or just left it be?
Sorry for asking this, if there is any thread explaining about this, please direct me to the right way..

That is perfectly normal....everytime you enter hboot, the phone parses for a PD98IMG.zip file and if you don't have any shows that message. What are you trying to do with the bootloader? Don't mess with that partition as you can end up with a brick. :good:

I see. So, where can i find the PD981IMG.zip and where should i put it into? fyi, i dont have systeminfo in bootloader but i saw some FAQ and they said that it is normal. But, with that, i dont know if i have a superCID or not. I think i read it somewhere that saying we should rename the custom ROM that we currently use into PD98DIAG.nbh and put it into the root directory so that it will not shows the message "[PD98DIAG.nbh] No image or wrong image!" again.. but is it true? I take a look at the aahk PD981IMG.zip compressed file and custom ROM compressed file but they are completely different..
I'm not using aahk PD981IMG.zip because it is downgrade ROM if i'm not mistaken which is downloaded during rooting, and if i put that file and the bootloader is reading that file, maybe there will be some inconsistency as i am running viper.. Right now i am currently running viperdhdv1.2.3, but i afraid that i might brick my desire hd if i flash another rom.. is that possible? what do you think glevitan?

LOL.. sorry about my messy explanation.. orait, start from the beginning. Please bear with me...
i have desire HD, GB shipped..
by using AAHK, i finally rooted it with pseudo eng hboot,
install CWM > flash viperdhdv1.2.3 > working fine..
Ok now when i enter bootloader, ( vol- + power button), it does not list systeminfo, so with that I cannot determine whether my device have SuperCID or not, because then i cannot flash unbranded ROMs.. so, question is:
Is there any way to know the CID besides systeminfo?
Is not having SuperCID will prevent my device from flashing any custom ROM?
Regarding this:
Code:
sd checking....
loading....[PD98DIAG.zip]
No Image
Loading....[PD98DIAG.nbh]
No Image or Wrong Image
Loading....[PD98img.zip]
No Image
Loading......[PD98img.nbh]
No Image or wrong image.
Where can i find the right img or nbh file? Do i need to rename the customROM boot.img into one of that and put it into root directory?

WHATTTTTT??? no buddy...you are doing everything wrong. IF you are S-OFF and have CWM or other custom recovery, then you are ready to go. SuperCID is not for custom roms...it has to be with carriers. Ok the file for the zip and nbh is the update image, so if i doesnt want to update anything, why should i put anything inside isn't..
Orait, that one is settled.
When i enter bootloader, it shows "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF RL"
From what i read, RL stands for Relocked right? So is it mean i need to unlock it first to install custom ROM or what? And from what my friends said, ENG S-OFF is not stable and dangerous to flash custom ROMs as there is a chance to brick the device, so first i should try to make it shows "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF" and after that I will be able to flash any ROM safely.. is that true?

I guess this is too much for me to comprehend so i just left it right there...
From what i read,
-S-off means security for NAND memory is deactivated, so we can write whatever we want on that..
-ENG hboot is a more advanced hboot compared to stock hboot, like able to flashing kernel or new radio using fastboot..
-So, if i just flashing new custom ROM without flashing radio, this means that my risk of bricking device is near zero right?
-So my question is, if eng hboot is better, why radio s-off is recommended in some thread?
-and why i have RL(Relocked) at the end of S-off?
Please give me some thread that explains about that.. I saw some thread but it is not answered. =.=

Just answer this: How on earth is your bootloader relocked, if you never unlocked it?
ENG S-OFF should not be used. S-OFF is more than enough and allows you to flash whatever you want. PERIOD.....don't waste more time.

[Q] Strange CID and Stock update help please?

Hi there.
I'm new to the forum but have lurked and used some of the great information and tools that are available here.
So firstly, thank you.
Now.
I bought my One X in China (Where I live), in around August. It seems as though the one I got isn't a regular One X and because of that I'm having some problems.
A month and a half or so ago I installed an AOKP Rom which I've had some pretty intense bugs with, such as the the phone restarting whenever I toggle WiFi on or off. Because of that, I finally attempted to return to stock today. After a while, I found some success. I restored my nandroid backup, reflashed the stock recovery and relocked the bootloader. Happy that I was back to normal, I went to download the Jelly Bean OTA update, but kept having errors when doing so. (The green bar would reach about 1/3 of the way and then a red triangle showed up.) I've tried to troubleshoot and in doing so have found out that my CID is "11111111", so I have no idea what to make of it. All i could find was that this is some kind of superCID, but if it's preventing me from installing an OTA update then how do I go around this?
Is it possible to change my CID to something more accessible? This is the international Tegra 3 model by the way.
Additionally, the HBOOT screen shows that my phone is "ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-OFF RL". Is this normal?
Any answers would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.
You're really lucky actually, because a lot of people want exactly your phone - SuperCID and S-OFF. You cannot flash OTAs on a SuperCID phone iirc, but you can unlock the bootloader and flash something else
Hi, there are fastboot commands to change your cid if you are s-off but I am not sure why you would want to.
With s-off you can just go and flash the 1.39 hboot from mikes thread (link from his arhd thread OP)
I have same setup as you and have been wondering what actually is stock for me if I ever needed it. I don't have a nandroid from when I got the phone and I guess that s-off and super cid means I could pick any one ? But which.
Sent from my HTC One X
Thanks for the replies. I guess i have a better understanding now of what these things all mean.
So I gather if I want to get the stock Jellybean ROM I have to flash it myself?
Eh, that's kind of a pain but I guess it's not too bad. Do I go about it in the same way that anyone else would or will there be a variation based on the situation of my phone?
Thanks
I reckon someone with an s-on would gladly swop with you if its a pain you have the most flexibility as it is.
Flash whichever update you like without worrying about the cid matching. That's the magic of super cid. Then because you are s-off you also have the option to downgrade if that ever took your fancy.
There are many guides on how to do this written far better than I could so just search the forum.
Enjoy
Sent from my HTC One X
I see.
I've had a look around and I'm still a little confused to be honest.
Because I'm S-Off and have SuperCID, does that mean I can just choose a Jellybean OTA Update, download it, install it and upgrade the HBOOT?
Everything will be the same as if I upgraded OTA?
Sorry for being so useless.
Don't hang me for this info, see it more as a pointer to more info to search on
What i have read before is that you can write yourself a CID and update the hboot with a firmware from that CID. then you can run any software out there......
Do not run a ruu, it might mess up your s-off to s-on
When I get to my pc I will write up what I did with a link.
I did as Mr Hofs said but I did not need to change my cid from super to do it.
I have never tried an ruu.

I started on HBoot 1.12 i believe
Then I got my unlock token handy (one from htcdev) and made sure fastboot working etc
Then did a nandroid (which i subsequently deleted but hey i tried to do the right thing )
Then I got the latest firmware for HBoot 1.39 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 I downloaded the first 1.39 for WWE (x.xx.401.x - World Wide English (WWE))
No need to change your CID. Super CID works with any of them.
Now I just followed the usual steps explained many times here to flash the firmware.
You need to put the stock recovery back on. I got mine from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970&highlight=htc+one+x+*stock* EDIT: dont think you need this step actually -will let one of the pro's confirm.
Then relock bootloader and reboot in RUU and flash the firmware.
When done unlock bootloader again, flash custom recovery and flash a ROM. You can skip the extra step of flashing the boot.img as with S-Off your custom recovery can do it.
As mentioned by Mr Hofs I have no idea what an RUU would do to S-Off, Ive never tried.
Good luck.

Need help to update my HOX

hi! Sorry if this been asked before, but hey not all cases are the same .. and basically I need help with the following, I'm no noob in Android but a little in regard to HOX, since I come from a galaxy nexus and with that phone I had no problem to install roms rooting etc. .. but with this I find something more complicated, because I see that people talks about of CID and things like that.
Somehow I need help with this: i know that the 4.2.2 update already come out for the HOX in Europe .. but I'm from Venezuela, and I doubt i will get the update for my phone, so I decided to flash an ota that roam the Internet or here on XDA.. so, first i see that you need to have certain CID for flashing the rom, and i don't think my CID is correct, because it is BSTAR301, at least that says an app that i downloaded from the play store, but if you know other way to know the CID that is more accurate tell me and i do that and then tell you, but if this BSTAR301 is really my CID then fine.. I see that the phone has to be 3.20.401.1 but my phone has a similar number: 3.14.518.34, i dont know if for the same thing but i dont see anywhere on my phone this one 3.20.401.1.. that's it for that part, then I know I have to unlock the bootloader, and install a custom recovery, I have no problem with those two but my question is, what should I do now? I really want to install that update! Below are my data that shows my HOX, and is for you to tell me whether I can install the update via recovery or not, or what should i do.
Android version: 4.1.1
Sign HTC Version: 4 +
Software Version: 3.14.518.34 710RD
HTC level SDK api: 4.63
HTC extention Version: htcextension_sense_45_1
Kernel Version: 3.1.10
Baseband version: 5.1204.162.29
Number of compilation: 3.14.518.34
I think that would be all you would need .. oh and of course, the phones is 100% stock.
Last thing, is somehow i can install the update, is there anyway that i dont have to lose my configuration and everything? like a real ota update you know? I mean I dont need to make a full wipe right? Since I do not want to lose all my settings but I want to make as if he really was updated via ota.
Well now, sorry for the speech but was the only way to explain what I need hope you can help me

Bootloader (power + vol. down) will tell you what HBoot version you have.
I'm not sure what HBoot came with the 3.14.518.34 software but if it is 1.39 you can install a custom 4.2.2 Sense 5 ROM. I believe that is the lowest HBoot version that supports 4.2.2 Sense 5.
Otherwise, it is simply a case of, you will have to wait for an official OTA update on your CID, if you ever get it.
If you CAN install a custom ROM, if your HBoot version is high enough, you WILL have to full wipe.

Thats all it says, dont see any of the CID thing, but well, it looks like i have the right HBOOT. but the thing is, i dont want a custom rom, i want an stock rom, the 4.2.2 stock that came out recently in europe that i repeat, dont thing will come out on my country because all the good things allways get here real late ¬¬.

There is an app in the Play Store called CID Getter, it will confirm your CID for you.
To the best of my knowledge, for that CID and/or software number, there is NO upgrade path to 4.18.401.2 that does not involve a custom ROM.

that's the app i used before to get my CID, and as i say i get BSTAR301 i don't know why is so different from other HOX that says HTC_001 and thing like that.
i want to update my HOX but i don't want a custom rom :'( why is had to be so hard for me ¬¬
oh and i never tell you before, but mine is a tegra 3!
As @Tigerlight has already mentioned you cannot get stock 4.2.2 sense 5 for your cid, the only option you have is a custom Rom. I am using maximus 2.1.0.0, it is based on official 4.2.2 release but has extra features and is as close as you can get to stock. Everything works as it should. There are also other Rom's which will work on your handset like bugx or arhd and many others, all of which are built on the same official 4.2.2 base.
Now go get the cakes
Well, i guess i dont hace another choice! But i will use the most perfect rom and the most bugless because i dont want to be jumping from one rom to another! Thanks for all your replays, you've been very helpful to me

Can't he just follow this method? I thought the CID was bypassed through this?

You cannot 'bypass' CID as such. There has to be a compatible HBoot available for your CID. He has a compatible HBoot version.
But he does NOT want to flash anything. He wants STOCK. No custom recovery, no custom ROM.

Maximus is a good near-stock ROM as is ARHD 31.

Thanks! i will check that out
Hey Tigerlight, since you been very helpful to me, i have another question for you..i've been searching on google and i find something called SuperCID and to get the HOX s-off
my question is, can my HOX be s-off? unlocking the bootloader doesn't have to do anything with that right? but if i can get my one x s-off, and get SuperCID, then can i flash any stock 4.2.2? or maybe an ota will come out by itself?
i've been searching this, becase the more i think about it, i really dont want to flash a custom rom on my phone..i dont have any problem of rooting my phone, or flashing a custom recovery, but what i really want is keep it stock for now.
Nope we can't s-off it. And if you decide to flash another rom....do NOT forget to create a stock nandroid backup of your existing rom. You will need it because your cid and main number are pretty rare on the internet !!! So please be careful with that !!!
The unbranded backups are easy to get here on xda ..... yours don't !
well one last thing then, i don't know how to say this but, can a phone, in this cases the one x that is been sold by an operator (in my case movistar) be free from that operator? i mean, i know by now that i order to get an ota update from the operator that sells the one x on my country (movistar) its that they release an update right..but the thing is, that i sim-unlock my hox, so i don't have anything to do with then anymore (because im using another operator) does that mean that the phone still need to get the update from them even if dont using their services anymore? like i say, i simunlock my phone..how can i make my hox like i bought it unlocked from the beginning with no carrier attached, because i know that the unlocked one are getting the update, the ones from and operator (like at&t, etc) still need to wait for them to update..you understand? because i dont know if im explain myself xD
Yes your phone still needs to get updates from them because cid and main version can't be changed on the phone.
