People really need to stop saying that. It has happened with both recoveries. There is a thread on the issue with TRWP. There does not seem to be any correlation at all regarding which recovery you use.

Ya that has been discussed so many times out of the 500 times it has happened about 10 of them were from twrp that were reported.

Even if your 50-1 stat is correct, and I am not sure it is, you would have to know how many people with each recovery have successfully flashed without losing imei to have any meaning. Repeating an unproven theory like it is fact does not help. No offence because you are a good poster that is always helpful.

You have to account for the fact that even at this point there are probably still more people using CWM simply due to the fact that it has been around longer and a lot more people are used to it. If there is even a single person (and we already know that there is) who has lost their IMEI while using TWRP, that negates the concept that it is a CWM only issue. You also have to consider the fact that 500 reports is still not enough to establish a baseline, and also the fact that quite a few people have probably resolved the issue by searching and finding the solution without reporting it at all.
With all this in mind, it seems to me that it may be a more common problem on CWM, but we have no way of knowing whether that is because of TWRP being better or because of CWM being the more common recovery. However, we do know that the issue can happen on either recovery.

I only said that because I always used cwm.. Until this device.. I lost my imei twice using it and have never list it since I switched to twrp
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

Bottom line better to be on the the safe side so just use twrp, it's quicker and easier why not?

A better bottom line would probably be to backup your IMEI

Recovery doesnt have anything to do on this. Our phone is build like that.
Best thing to do is back up ur imei .

Either recovery is true for lost IMEIs. I have used both and lost them on both.

Thanks, and I understand. I just did not want people to think one recovery was full proof when it is not and skip making a backup thinking they are solid. As suggested by others, making a backup of the IMEI is good idea.

Ok I got my imei back after a million tries, but still have no 4G data / signal. I tried all the mobile network options but no matter what I will be on edge network.
This is annoying, please help anyone thanks

Why not just Odin back a factory jelly bean image and start from scratch.
You can at least eliminate the phone as being defective if it works when you go back stock.

[Q] Can't recieve texts after Jedi ROM installation

Hi, today after I installed the newest version of the Jedi XP-9 rom, I sent 1 text message, received a response and have since haven't been able to receive any more. I tested with my roommate and various other friends so I don't know what the problem can be. Is there any fix for this or would flashing a new rom solve this problem?
Theres a modem that you need to flash with it. It should be on the same page as where u got the rom from.

Here is the URL for the page I got it from,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005141
in the modem section, there is no AT&T option, I think it comes with the AT&T by default
also the rom order I went in was Jedi 3.3 -> cleanrom > Jedi XP-9 and this is where my problems started
Yes its does come with the stock att modem but there is a modem that I had to flash because I had the same issue.

Actually I don't know if this fixed it. It worked last night and then this morning I had some more problems not receiving texts. I reflashed the .zip and I got about 6 at once, and then again nothing came back. I made a new APN and googled the correct AT&T APN settings and that appears to be working. I'll update this thread if it stops working again
edit: it's almost like the messages are held off, but if I open up my web browser and start navigating to pages I'll get 4-5 texts at once, when I know they were sent minutes apart
When you flashed the modem did you give it 2-3 minutes for the modem to set in.

Yes when they problem first started, I gave it 10 minutes (as it said in the Jedi thread) after I flashed the rom and rebooted.

Full wipe, formatted system, wiped dalvik cache, installed only bare minimum apps from playstore and the problem persists.
I just got off the phone with an ATT representative and they said I should go get a new SIM card tomorrow. Do you know if they will check if I've installed a custom rom? Or tripped that yellow triangle counter? Should I look into fixing that before I go into the AT&T store?
No they wont. You just go in and they just install it for you or they may just give it to you to install. Should be easy with no worries.

Cm 10.1.2

Irecently tried to flash cm10.1.2 the "stable" version of cm by I keep getting error 7. I am running the latest cwm recovery 6.0.3.1 and had no problem installing 10.1.1 a week or so ago. I have downloaded it multiple times just incase it was corrupted during the download and no luck. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any feedback would be great
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
IIRC I had this issue a while back and it has to do with the bootloaders. Error 7 means (I think) it doesn't recognize something about your device so it stops before causing issues.
I had to go back to stock and then the flash worked fine.

You'll have to go back to a stock 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 ROM first. Then install CWM, and your ROM should install fine. I had the same issue, and this is my solution.

You don't have to flash a stock rom. Just flashing the bootloader is sufficient. No sense downloading a 1.1gb file if you don't have too.

The first line in your op was "I keep getting error 7"
The actual error on the screen is "status 7" we were both half right
That's all you need to search for. Status 7 isn't rom specific you can get it flashing any rom. These threads are for helping, and I don't mind doing it, its just a lot of people need to learn how to try to help themselves first.
There is an interesting video on the homepage for xda where they say "there are 5+ million users in the forums, chances are your problem is new " interesting watch.
Getting back to the issue at hand. If your recovery is up to date than it's your bootloader. The link I added gets you to where you need to be. Don't flash the MF1 (if on a Canadian carrier) though as some roms haven't changed the script to allow it to flash and you'd get the same issue.
Let me know if you're still stuck

I didn't think you could update profile on AOSP.
I think my aaa key is fine because I was reading that data would be messed up on stock ROM too, and I flashed back to nexOGen and data was fine.

Even if that works, I want a fix that will allow everyone to use it without going through all this.
It IS possible to update prl/profile on AOSP ROMs, because I could do it on Helly Bean for my old Samsung Epic. That doesn't speak much for us LGOG users, but maybe it could help somewhat.

Whenever I have this problem I do a full wipe of everything on my storage device, and then push the file via adb/sideload in recovery. Install the ROM zip, and then side load the gapps and install. Clear cache/dalvik reboot...Profit? :0
I have formatted data, wiped everything, and pushed it with adb every time I flash it. Still the same result. I think it is the kernel, but don't know enough about it. I've asked a couple of people for help. If anyone knows what I could change in a 4.2 kernel to make it compatible with 4.3 that could fix it maybe?

yeah i flashed Aospa, but i did do it through CWM...for some reason my SD card wouldn't work after the update so I went to downgrade back to stock. I tried flashing from ODIN with the stock image but it was failing at the boot.img part every time. Maybe I got a bad stock image? I'll search for the stock through xda and re download and try. just sucks because it took almost two hours to download. thanks again for everyone's help.

LTE Not working on Telus

I recently had to manually enter my IMEI when I lost it. Now whenever I turn on data it shows LTE but it doesn't work. If I switch back to 4g it works but obviously on 4g speeds and not LTE. Is this something wrong with the APN Settings? Any input?

there is some good info there.
Check it out.
I do not know if that is compatible with your phone or not but there is good info there. You can always ask them if it is safe for your phone.

I am curious what rom you are on?
What did you do to loose your imei?
You're on Telus? If you are have you tried flashing a stock image through Odin? (the non AT&T phones have official firmware images released)
If not it wouldn't hurt to try, just remember if you have ever been on the 4.3 OTA bootloader (I think it is MJ5? For you non AT&T guys) you can only flash 4.3 with Odin and if you never were on it you can flash whatever you want.

How hard did you look for a solution?
What have you tried so far?
Are the APN Settings correct for your carrier?

I've googled alot and searched. Couldn't find much.
Yes the APN settings are correct.
Okay I'll check it out.
I'm on the 4.3 Pac-Man ROM, Used Quantum and stock and still no LTE. This problem occured while I was using stock.
I lost my IMEI because I flashed the wrong carrier stock file.
Yes I have tried flashing back to stock and it's the MK5 bootloader I believe, which I have.

I'm on the thread now, will that file that is posted in the comments work on a Telus I747m? How do I fix the efs partition? Thanks.
