[Q] LTE usable 4.2.1 JPO40D Google AOSP ROM? - LG Optimus G (International)

I would imagine that because it is the Nexus 4 based build, there is no LTE, but i haven't been able to find a definitive yes or no, so I figured I would risk it and ask. Is there a method/setting to enable LTE on this ROM?
Edit: Well doesn't that just figure that i found the answer accidentally. I just had to edit some phone options (note, this only work for Bell and Telus, for Roger's users you have to add a new APN)
1) Open up your phone dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#* (be sure to add that last * as I couldn’t demonstrate that on the GIF)
2) Tap on “Phone information”
3) Open “Set preferred network type:”
4) Select “LTE/GSM auto (PRL)

[ROM] 14/9/2010 (2.1 Sense) Australian ROM + Extras

This my first ROM and was cooked for my own use. it has been tested to work on my GSM Hero. but it may not work on yours. so use at your own risk...
I was not able to find a ROM with English(Australia) that has App2SD. However, Thanks to dsixda's HTC android Kitchen. I was able cook one up by following the instructions.
To my surprise, not only did it boot. it seems to work quite well and everything seems to be working.
There is nothing fancy. The aim was to keep stock but add a few extra stuff while keeping the locale.
Features:
- based on RUU_Hero_hTC_Asia_AUS_3.39.710.1. Android 2.1 with SenseUI
- stock English(Australia) and English (New Zealand) Locale
- standard apps nothing was removed.
- Rooted
- Super user installed
- BusyBox installed
- App2SD
- Wireless Tethering
- Bash Shell
- ZIP Aligned
- Not Deodxed
- Modified task killer to improve available memory and speed (thanks to androcheck's thread here)
radio is not included. if you need it the original radio is 63.18.55.06P_6.35.15.14
it can work with FlyKernel 10a but as the aim was to keep it stock. it has the original kernel that was in the RUU ROM (2.6.29-7527f009).
Download here http://www.mediafire.com/?lznogj0r1nc14k1
If you want to use an HK ROM and have English(Australia) try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8244239&postcount=21
I'll give it a go and see what happens.

hope it works well for you. I am really happy with it. It is me only giving reasonable benchmarks however the UI is feels quite a smoother than the original ROM in my opinion (probably because of the memory settings.)
i'm going to give it a go in the UK...just because I am a flashaholic
Sounds like an impressive first ROM project Good luck with development
@ maxisma
The OP is not breaking any rules. He has talked about features, tells exactly what he used to build the rom, and is acknowledging the sources.
hey this is cool. so what actually makes it australian (sorry if I missed that somewhere)?

It is based on the stock Australian ROM. what make it unique is it has the English Australia Locale when you set it up and has the English Australian dictionary.
when you use the other World Edition ROMs you have to choose English US or English UK (as the English Australia is not available.)
that means when we use programs that uses the local locality such as the eBay app. it goes to the eBay US or UK site instead of the eBay AU site. I think it also affects the apps that is available in the Android market too.
the other thing is it has the complete APN settings for the local carriers. eg, With a Vodafone SIMM, it gives you an option of Crazy Johns and Vodafone as the Carrier. it you use the WWE based ROMS. Sometimes it gives you only Vodafone, sometimes it gives you nothing (depending on what the person who cooked the ROM decide to include)
BTW: Crazy Johns is a Phone shop who is also a "network" in Australia. (they re-brand Vodafone services and resells it as their own network)
This is cool! Thanks for your work

Good on you mate. I like the idea of "APN settings" where did you put these setting in the phone? I m on Lebara-Australia which uses crazy jones network. (Purtona.net) you might like to add Lebara to the list as well.

When you setup the phone on the initial setup using this rom. the first screen should give you crazy johns if your simm card can use that network. that should set it up for you automatically..
otherwise in the settings, you can go to wireless networks, then choose mobile networks. in there you should see the Access Point Names (or APN). you can manually set it up using these settings from here http://ausdroid.net/apns/#cj

What I mean is where in the ROM Directory structure you can set this APN.
anyway, I found it out. all the APNs is been set in an XML file in "/etc/apns-conf.xml". I ll try to add Lebara APN to this list then flash the rom.

Oh, sorry man. I did look it up but I wasn't sure if that was what you wanted. the file you are talking about does exist on this ROM. but it is blank. I am not sure anything you put in there will be picked up. you can always try and put it there using adb and see if it works.
I am trying to work out how to do an update patch zip file. if I work out how to do it. I can put the xml file into an update patch zip file. so you can flash it on top of the rom. I like to keep all the operator stuff original.

apns are located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk
when you open the apk, you find the apns in /res/xml/
open the file with the apns you want and just drag it to the file you want it to, to the proper directory ofcourse.

Trying this ROM now. Good to see someone release a ROM with Australia as a locale. Anyone having issues with the market? I can connect on Wifi but not on 3G on Telstra. APN seems to be fine (same as previous).
EDIT: furthermore has anyone tried the new HTC Sync with this ROM? Any success?

AT&T Mango Update

http://www.1800pocketpc.com/mango-coming-on-att-september-27th/23060/
Above is a link. If you have AT&T you are about to be very happy. Everyone who debranded your phone to get pre-nodo and NoDo, don't forget to go back and re-brand your phone if you want the OFFICIAL Mango update next tuesday, 9/27/2011. Remember, the correct brand if you live in the US is "ATT-US" without quotes. LG Quantum users, remember, when you use MFG...
A-Launch MFG and enter the password 277634#*# when prompted for it.
B-Tap the Engineer Menu item.
C-Tap the Other Setting menu item.
D-the Edit registry menu item.
E-Set the input boxes on this menu as follows:
Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Input SUB_PATH: \System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\
Input KEY: MobileOperator
Select Data Type: STRING
Input Data: ATT-US
Select "Set"
Then double check and select "Query"
You should get a data string that says
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\platform\devicetargetinginfo\]
"mobileoperator" = ATT-US
Thanks for the reminder!
I don't lnow if it makes a difference, but the quotes are present on my ATT Focus. Like this "ATT-US"

Actually, I don't need to rebrand my quantum. I'll still get the att update even with my mo as 000-00 because I have a C900AT.

Install unlock.xml onto your device, then you can unlock your phone using GPRS settings. There are a lot of threads here which teach you how to do it.
Does anyone have some instructions for performing this task on a Samsung Focus?

Could someone please query the default ATT registry values for these two strings for the LG quantum, I've searched thoroughly and cannot find them posted anywhere:
[HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\]
MobileOperator = ATT-US
MOName = AT&T Wireless
OEMDeviceName = PACIFIC_ATT_US
Thank you
edit, i have found the values by flashing an ATT ROM and reading them myself, I share them with all now.
I've been looking for this. !0x

[Q] Issues after upgrading to I9082LUBUBMK1

Hello.
After upgrading to the baseband I9082LUBUBMK1:
1) Favorites contacts tab is missing.
2) Stock browser without history and bookmarks.
This issues are a "feature" of the new version or it is a bug?
Greetings from Paraguay.

just downgrade back via odin. BUT why not you try Pyramid/GENNXT rom if you need dual sim, its more feature filled. If you dont use dual sim, use one of the kitkat rom available
Actually I want to know if there is another way besides downgrading because there are improvements like:
1) Longer battery life.
2) Better keyboard.
3) now I can lock high speed network, before y just could lock to 2G speed.
Maybe someone knows some command that can be written in the address bar or some hidden setting to turn favorites contacts on.
It also can be that there is another way to achieve the same goal.
I also noticed that merge contacts is also missing but you can merge contacts selecting from dropdown list while modifying the contact's name.
Try flashing ? :/

I realized later that the phone was set to simple desktop automatically in the upgrade, that was the reason the favorites tab was missing.
In the browser now you have to press the left or right borders to have access to the commands.
Thanks anyway.

How To Guide VoLTE, VoWIFI, and 5G in AUS

Hello Fellow OP9 Pro users
I just wanted to start a thread for anyone interested in a OP9/Pro in australia that wanted to get Volte, VoWIFI, and 5G working.
I have tested this and confirmed that it is 100% working for Telstra & Vodafone, I have good word that this method will also work on Optus but don't actually have an Optus sim to test this with.
Huge shout out to happiboi from the OP8 forums for the methods used to get this all working with A11.
First step is to download the oneplus logkit from this link: https://downloadmirror.co/1MW9/com.oem.oemlogkit_1.0-1.apk
Once this has been installed, open the dialer on the phone and type in *#800#, tap on the "oneplus logkit" button, scroll down and tap on "Function switch", then tap on "VoLTE switch" but do not click restart click cancel. Then Tap on "VoWiFi switch" this time press reboot.
Once the phone has rebooted open settings, Wi-Fi & Network, SIM & network, SIM 1, then enable both the toggles for VoLTE and VoWIFI. This is probably also a good time to ensure 5G is enabled under "Prefer network type".
Now what we have done so far is essentially just enable the toggles for everything to work, what we still need to do is actually configure the phone to work on the Australian mobile networks, this is where the information and hard work from happiboi really comes in. I have quoted the guide from happiboi below as it is very well written anyway.

Code:
Prerequisites:
* Need ADB suite available on PC & enabled "ADB debugging" on phone via developer options
* When you permit your PC adb access to the phone after first adb command, make sure you tick always permit this device. When the phone boots after "adb reboot ftm", the screen is inactive so you can't authorise the device when you try to adb shell and are stuck
* Need QPST suite of apps installed on PC (needed PDC tools + EFS explorer)
* If on custom firmware - probably a good idea to backup your phone before you do this. On custom firmware after the first "adb reboot ftm" rebooting again puts the device in a boot loop until you format data
Process:
- Open command prompt on PC & navigate to where your ADB suite is located
- Type command without "":
"adb devices" (I like to do this to ensure adb can speak with phone/computer)
- Should display:
List of devices attached
<if working, your device should be listed here (else, it'll be blank)>
- Type command without "":
"adb reboot ftm"
--> This puts phone into field test mode
- Type command without "":
"adb shell"
--> Creates dialogue for shell command on phone
- In the shell (OnePlus8Pro:/ $ ) type command without "":
"setprop sys.usb.config diag,diag_mdm,qdss,qdss_mdm,serial_cdev,dpl,rmnet,adb"
--> This opens up ports that we used to be able to in Android 10
- Phone Screen is still blank - but it's OK.
- Start up PDC Tool in Admin mode on PC
- Click drop down, select phone connection (there's only 1 in the list)
--> ** If the drop-down box is empty and no phone/device listed, you cannot proceed.
--> ** Other users have foudn this to be related to a Qualcomm driver issue.
--> ** Delete the drivers you have currently installed and get a new one from here:
--> ** https://gsmusbdriver.com/install-qualcomm-usb-driver.
--> ** Also once the device shows up in PDC don't click on it, open efs explorer and let it start searching directories --> ** before going back to PDC and clicking on the device in the drop down.
--> ** The window may say 'not responding' just leave it until the carrier list populates then carry on with below steps
- Do the profile activation stuff for Telefonica_UK_Commercial:
- Look for "Telefonica_UK_Commercial", right click and SetSelectedConfig for both Sub0 and Sub1
- Click on the above profile again and click on Activate
- Do not restart your phone
- Don't close PDC yet (don't know if it make a difference but I didn't close)
- Open EFS Explorer (I opened in Admin mode too)
- Navigate to "\nv\item_files\ims\"
- Replace ims_user_agent file with one supplied
--> The supplied one has Telstra VoLTE Qualcomm as header instead of Telefonica
- Navigate to "\policyman"
- Replace carrier_policy.xml & carrier_policy.xml_Subscription01 with ones supplied.
--> Just take carrier_policy.xml and make a copy named "carrier_policy.xml_Subscription01"
--> ** Caveat, I further modified the carrier_policy.xml file as it wasn't enabling 5G for me on my IN2020 (Android 11) Oneplus 8 Pro.
--> ** I changed the nr5g_sa_bands base & nr5g_nsa_bands base values to be "hardware" rather than specifically band n78.
--> ** This changes config to allow whatever 5G bands the hardware has available rather than specific bands
--> ** You can't enable bands that the hardware doesn't support anyway so makes sense to enable all
--> ** This gave me the needed 5G access with Telstra
- Type command without "":
"adb reboot"
After phone boots back up, 5G + VoLTE + VoWiFi are all intact and in working order!

Hey there,
I'm glad this is working for you too - the credit really goes back to all the XDA users who have helped to give guidance in creating these steps
For anyone reading and interested, it has now been confiremd working on OP6, 7, 8 and 9 series phones (as well as Nord).
Great way to get features that should be 'enabled' from OP themselves and remember you will need to do this after every system/OTA update to re-enable these functions.
Happy days, cheers all!
Thanks so much! This worked perfectly for me with an 8pro on Telstra. I work in an area with a 4G only tower so haven't been able to make calls for the last 6 months!
Could the same methodology be followed for my colleague's Xiaomi mi 10t pro 5g?

There's no harm in trying on the Xiaomi.
The other way to attempt this was the original process outlined here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/volte-and-vowifi-in-australia.4095097/post-82847027
The only reason we (OnePlus users) had to change our method was because OP closed off access to the efs ports after the android 11 updates.
Not working whit Ho mobile Italy carrier
Ho can restore the original versione of. com.oem.oemlogkit

Thanks a lot for this! thought I was being screwed by Telstra the whole time.
Confirmed working on LE2123, Oxygen build 11.2.6.6.LE15BA with Telstra 5G, VoWIFI & VoLTE, though when installing the Qualcomm driver in Device Manager I had to use the "Qualcomm HS-USB WWAN Adapter 9091" option to make my phone show up in QPST.

Hey there! I have a Nord (EU AC2003 model) and I'm in Bulgaria on the Telenor network. I don't care about VoLTE or VoWIFI but I do want to be able to use 5G as my carrier supports it (and should be compatible with the phone as they are using the n78 band according to Wikipedia and the phone supports it).
On the phone Telenor said it needed no special activation on their side so this is an issue with the device. I don't have the 5G option in preferred network selection at all so I thought this guide would help until I saw that the XML files are for Telstra.
You said that it has been confirmed to work on Nord, my question is, would this guide work specifically to force the phone to use 5G (I have already tried enabling it through the engineering menu via dialing *#*#4636#*#* but that doesn't work for me)? My second question is whether it would be possible for someone show me how to modify the XML files for my carrier (Telenor BG)/modify them for me if that's the case?

Might be something to do with the special characters in your user file name? Not sure but it might be worth trying to copy the file from the root of your drive.

Hey Mate,
I'm running 11.2.10.10.LE15BA and is working flawlessly for me, have tried both Vodafone AU and Telstra sims with no issues.
Damn ok i'm doing something wrong then, i'll try again, thanks for the info.

Weird, just did it exactly the same as I did last time but it has now worked, showing i have full 5G connection.
Thanks @mhall156 i wouldn't have tried again if you didn't say it's still working for you, not sure how i screwed it last time but glad i got 5G back.
Awesome, I'm glad it's working! I have had some attempts not work for seemingly unknown reasons. I've just restarted the phone and tried again and have always seemed to make it work.
It's a shame we have to go through this to make our otherwise great phones work properly.

Question Wifi-Calling

Hi All
I have Oppo Reno 6 pro 5G, the Snapdragon Version, model # CPH2247, for some reason the Wifi calling option doesn't appear in the setting, also the Volte feature doesnt appear, can someone tell me how to force them to appear? as I know the guys in India has this option in their setup menu
Follow the steps -; Settings>Mobile network>Select sim (1/2)> wifi calling > enable then wifi calling prefrence . Select and enjoy
But for some reason, I don't have the wifi calling option at all so I can't enable what doesnt exist
is there a way to make it appear
Can you visit to nearest Oppo Service Center and they'll install a new software in it.
NOTE :- Please take a backup before.
Hi, did you resolve it? I have the same problem
