My galaxy nexus becomes too warm.. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi..my galaxy nexus becomes tooo warm when using it for about 10-15 mins..
I m using purity 4.4 & kernel ak purity v021.. Is it the kernel issue or anything else because it is the first time i have installed a custum kernal...
Kindly help plzzz..

Maybe, mine does that occasionally from time to time. But I'm stock everything

Using same setup as you except on Fancy Kernel but when I was previously on Dummy kernel (same Dev) the phone ran very cool. I think you could try flashing Dummy Kernel and using Trickster Mod app to lower GPU clock to 304mhz and min CPU clock to 100+MHz?
edit: or change the governor as for me some governors cause my phone to run at my max clock speed non stop

Best gaming kernel for Jelly Bean?

Actually though, use stock.

Stock kernel on CM10. When you wish to game simply overclock min frequency to 768 and max to 1401 and set governor to performance.
Why performance? Yr device may be very very hot

In JB its slightly better. Using ondemand is not quite good though. At the very least use interactive.

Be careful... the performance governor basically runs your CPU at MaxFreq all the time.
Except during Deep Sleeps.

Heh Due to personal reasons I rarely exceed 15-20 minutes gaming time. And I have a handy switch between my battery friendly profile and this gaming one.

how can i disable CPU rendering ?
CPU rendering? What I know is Force GPU rendering and in order to disable that just go settings and under the Developer Option, scroll down till you see a check box and Force GPU Rendering then untick it... I thought its not ticked by default?

Disable CPU rendering is a flashable file found in Android Developments. Its quite old but gold. Enable KSM at memory settings under Performance. Also enable 16bit transparency but disable surface dithering.

How to OC GPU?

I see that when running the neak kernel on the uNeak app, theres a section where there are steps for the GPU clock speeds. To oc do you just raise the last step or what? Do I have to add a step if so how do I add one?
Also what is the highest clock you guys have run GPU up to on the note 2? On my n7, I ran it up to 700mhz without issues and 750mhz with occasional lockups
I'd like to do this on carbon with the kernel it comes with if possible.

I have OC'd up to 800MHz, but I usually keep it at 733MHz and underclock the CPU a bit. I don't think the Neak kernel supports OC'ing of any kind. You're better of with Perseus in that regards. By flashing the kernel the STweaks app is also automatically flashed and you can change settings from there.

[Q] SlimBean 4.2.2 build 5 Question

Hello All,
I can't seem to find the location on this ROM that allows you to change the governor settings... I swear I've looked everywhere!
i dont use that ROM but just FYI, kernel control features may not be built into it. as a matter of fact, a lot of ROMs dont have any built in kernel setting controls. where you using it before and it had it? saw a user running slimbean this morning with ktoonsez kernel. full control
Probably...

It's the kernel that came with the ROM, 3.4.41-slim-g846750a. I just read of people talking about changing their governors and wanted to give it a try..
i use (and only use) ktoonsez kt747 kernel with any ROM i am on (tasks latest currently). it comes packaged with an app that allows me to select and make governor and scheduler adjustments as well as tweak many other things in order to improve stability and battery life. highly recommend.
You can enable the developers settings by going into settings>about phone>and tap on build number 6 or 7 times and that will unlock the performance options

[Q] My max CPU freq locked at 1.3 ghz?

hey guys recently i have noticed something while benchmarking.....my max cpu frequency is locked at 1.3 ghz...i use xm 305 with arhd 21 and if i set my max freq to 1.5 ghz with performance governor on so it should clock my cpu to 1.5 ghz regardless what i do right????but my cpu is still displayed to be at 1.3 ghz(its displaying in trickster app info page)
i tried setting min freq to 1.5 ghz and it is still clocked at 1.3 ghz???
because of that i am kinda lagging in vice city and getting a little low score in benchmarking....
so should i reflash the kernel??or use different app?

if you use Set-Cpu see if u have some Profile on that cap cpu at 1.3Ghz
It's XM305 that is at fault. On ARHD21 and XM305 I, and others, have frequency locked at 1.3GHz.
XMister isn't available until September I think when he should return.
Change kernel and all should be well.

No, not all of them do. I know for a FACT #285 works fine because I was using that before #305.
I tested #303 and #304 and they had the same issue.
Beyond that I don't know.
I tested Trip's NEXT Tegra 4, very nice and fast, but found the battery usage a little high and it's a little light on features, no S2W or LP OC for example.
ATM I am using n3okernel v44 and very happy with it.

Trickster, SetCPU, fauxClock, System Tuner, they will all let you SET max CPU speed to 1.5GHz but there is something in the kernel clock-locking some CPU's at 1.3GHz and until XMister returns...

CPU/GPU OC info [UPDATE 02/22/2014] [Video Guide]

DISCLAIMER: I take absolutely no responsibility for any possible damage to your device.
The settings and values I post could potentially break your device due to massive overheating and I will detail which ones.
VIDEO GUIDE IN POST #3
To unlock CPU/GPU Overclocking:
In /system/bin, rename mpdecision to mpdecision.back and remove permissions.
In /system/bin, rename thermald to thermald.back and remove permissions.
Replace your thermald.conf in /system/etc with the one I posted in the downloads and set permissions.
--unsure if this step is needed--
In TricksterMod, after a reboot, you should no longer see MPDecision. Turn on intelliplug. There is also an MP-Decision Control. Go into it and set both options that are on to off.

Hi i tryed it out when i was on Bam about two days ago, i changed permissions and replaced file but it didnt unlock OC. Is there something i missed, im using an e988
You also need to change the name and permissions of mpdecision in /system/bin.
I would not encourage going higher then 1.89GHz. A few of us had some nasty side effects and had to send in for a new phone.

This thread is meant for OC'd kernels which we only have 1 available for 4.3 and 4.4 ROMs, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50079215
The steps are meant for "unlocking" the ability to OC so they don't reset back to 1728MHz.
If we get more OC'd kernels that play nicely with mpdecision and thermald, these steps won't even be needed.
--edit--
Anyone think I should start making video guides for things? Really just looking for a way to test the screen recording option with audio through the mic on BAM. I could definitely pack a lot more information into 3-5minute videos than I'd care to type out.. xD
