So I just recently made the switch from the MyTouch 4g. I never had issues with 4g or sending mms over wifi. Now with this phone, I can no longer do it. I have searched and searched and can't find a viable solution/reason why that is. I also can't get 4g in my apartment either. I tried to send mms over the network and I'm always showing E with greyed out bars. What am I missing?

Check mms settings. There is special section for mms and large size mms are aviable for 4g networks only. Limit the size and that may work for you

Thank you for the link. I've been to that thread a few times. I don't have an ad blocker installed, but I'm going to try the manual apn change for the ip address and see of that helps.
I can't believe this phone can't run wifi and the network at the same time without problems.
I haven't had issues with it. Though it only works when I have wifi calling enabled. Otherwise it sends through the network.

I'd like to know this also, I have a crappy coverage area in my house and I have to rely on my wifi for data and I have to walk outside around the corner if I have to send an mms.

Do you have the Wi-Fi calling feature active on your phone? Carrier sms/mms should only be able to work on carrier signals or T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling. Plain Wi-Fi won't work iirc.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Bro T-Mobile can't even get this to work. It just not gonna happen. I have heard so many people say it works. Then I tell em to shut off data part of phone and leave WiFi on and nothing. It just not gonna work the way we want it to.
Sent from my SGH-T889
For all those non believers mms over wifi only works when calling over wifi is enabled here's proof, im in a crappy coverage area right now so I'm relying on wifi for data switched on wifi calling sent a pic and viola worked! Before it would activate my mobile network and start sending like that but since I have edge here right now it would have taken forever.

I can confirm mms via wifi, using stock messaging app.
I tried the method that dwitherell suggested oh his Tweaked ROM thread pushing the gba-service-TMO-Signed.apk to /system/app
That did the trick for me.

MMS via WiFi with WiFi Calling enabled. Using the stock messaging app. Tried with GoSms and it didn't work.
Mms over wifi only works with wifi calling enabled. Also make sure it's on wifi preferred. Otherwise you cannot send mms over wifi.

You never mention if your phone has Wi-Fi calling and if so is it running? As have been discussed, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Calling are 2 different things.
Most of the Note 2 roms here do not have Wi-Fi Calling built in if you happen to install a different rom.

Just thought I'd show this to you guys who have the phone now.
This app is called FoxFi, FoxFI WiFI...get it?...moving on,
As suggested from the title, this app allows you to use your phone as a hotspot access point free of charge; you don't even have to be rooted!
You can get the app down below
Play Store Link:
http://goo.gl/ympcs
If link doesn't work, then go here
Foxfi.com/bin
Status
Verizon - Works fine
AT&T - Works fine
T-Mobile - Not working (from what I've seen)
Sprint - Not working

didn't work on my lg p500
because it turns off the 3g connection when I enable tethering.
but I think it's a ROM issue.
I have 2.2.1 installed on my lg p500, and I'd like to share my internet connection with a samsung galaxy tab (honeycomb 3.2).
With an other application (Wifi Theter) I can act as an hotspot, as I want, but my galaxy tab can't see the wifi network available. other devices can, I can connect from my notebook, as an example.
So, I assume the problem is on the galaxy tab.
galaxy tab can connect to other wireless networks, but can "see" the one provided by wifi theter.
Anyone knows I to solve this?
thanks in advance for any help
Joao

The reason FoxFi shuts off your 3g connection is because it turns on the wifi radio to use for hotspot access around the security in your phone.
As far as Wifi Tether goes, are you broadcasting in adhoc mode?
I just gave this app a go. It looks like everything setup just fine on the phone but when I try to connect with my windows 7 laptop I get a "cannot connect" error. I think it's trying to use an ad hoc connection type. I don't think ICS supports ad hoc tethering. Could someone with a gingerbread phone could give this a try? If it works on a gingerbread phone then it's probably an ad hoc issue.

Thanks for pointer.
It is foxfi.com/bin
I just made it work with GS3 via bluetooth, hotspot mode did not work for some reason.
Will do for VPN for now, since stock GC3 wont work with IPSEC alone...

NOTE: IF YOU STILL GETTING THE MSG ABOUT THE TMOBILE OFFER OF 14.99 THE SOLUTION IS:
SOLITION #1: IF YOU ARE USING GOOGLE CHROME AND STILL WANT TO USE GOOGLE CHROME AS YOUR DEFAULT BROWSER YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE USER AGENT. TO DO SO YOU OPEN GOOGLE CHROME CLICK ON MENU THEN TOOLS, THEN DEVELOPER TOOLS, THE A WINDOW ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IS GOING TO PUP UP THEN CLICK ON SETTINGS (THERE IS A SETTING BUTTOM ON THE RIGHT BOTTOM) THEN YOU ARE GOING TO SEE 3 TABS: GENERAL -OVERRIDES-SHORTCUTS, CLICK ON OVERRIDES THEN YOU CLICK ON USER AGENT AND CHANGE THE USER AGENT TO ANYTHING THATS IT!
SOLUTION # 2 :GO TO WWW.APPLE.COM AND DOWNLOAD SAFARI BROWSER SIMPLE AND USE IT! THATS IT!!
ALSO IF YOU DONT LIKE SAFARI BROWSER YOU CAN ALWAYS DOWNLOAD FIREFOX BROWSER!!
1ST - ROOT YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!
2ND-DOWNLOAD THIS APK FROM THE MARKET OR FROM HERE http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ VERSION 3.1 BETA14
3RD-INSTALL IT ON YOUR PHONE
4TH- OPEN THE APP HIT MENU-SETTINGS- CHANGE DEVICE PROFILE AND SET YOUR PHONE TO SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUS (CDMA/LTE). NOW GO BACK AND START TETHERING!!!! THATS IT SIMPLE WORKS GREAT AND FAST!! CONECTS ANY DEVICE FAST!!
NOTE:
NOTE:IF YOU GUYS UPDATED YOUR PHONE NOW PUT THE PROFILE TO SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUS GSM INSTEAD OF THE CDMA/LTE !!!!

Uhh not sure what you mean
Wifi tether is when your on a mobile data connection (4g/Edge) and you don't have Wifi...you turn it on and it acts as a router or hotspot and lets your laptop connect to it.
If your in an area with Wifi that you can connect to you don't need to use the app. The apps pretty much only for when your in a location w/o wifi.
Thanks man it works great, I was getting errors at first but after switching to the galaxy nexus gsm profile everything was all good

sorry, no. I gather you want to know either way.
I used NOTEorious for 3-4 days, absolutely 0 issues connecting to WiFi at home. I'm using a Ubiquiti Power AP N
It also worked with my MikroTik RB751G-2HnD
DHCP, no static...
Albeit it's only been a week since I've had this phone. My current ROM is also working fine. I've been using Perseus kernel since I got it. I have not used any other kernels, including stock. I used Perseus or Siyah on my S3, so I continue to use the kernel I preferred on my last phone...
Well its just that when I turn off and on my WiFi then it gets stuck at obtaining IP address and then doesn't automatically connect like it typically should

Its usually set low (around 20) by stock and I always up that to 150-180 so I am not constantly scanning for other Wi-Fi when I am at home or locked on a good network.

Is everyone using the default APN for T-Mobile on this phone? My data seems to be slow and I noticed the APN settings are a bit different then I had on my Nexus 6P

I never attained speeds like that with my n6.
I tried using Google support to help find where to manually update APN settings but they said there were none. Is there a hidden menu?
What is the APN you guys are using

You are not alone sir. I bought my Pixel XL through BB and use it on Tmo. I've noticed that some text messages aren't going through properly or something with the default APN that was created once I inserted my simcard.
I tested LTE speeds last night at work, and they seemed just fine 60mbs down, 30mbs up.
Out of complete curiosity I looked up the default Tmo LTe APN and typed that in about 30 mins ago to see if that would clear up the suspected text message issue, and it absolutely killed my LTe speeds , so I'm not sure what's going on anymore lol I used to be good at this stuff.

I think my Sim card doesn't allow those settings. I only get prl update and profile update from cellular networks. Sprint is pretty good at ruining things lol

Well I went ahead and reset to default APN and this is the best I got after about 7 test
With the Motorola Nexus 6P APN I was getting 30+ in same location. Don't really understand when the APNs are not that much different

Mine is way better than my Nexus 6. But what's weird is when I run the speed test it says my server is Nashville but I live in Atlanta.
