Using the SynergyROM for AT&T, we all seem to be getting the "+" sign prefixed to all of our incoming calls. This is a huge PIA to an otherwise very well done ROM. I recall having this problem months ago with a different ROM, but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was and what the fix ended up being. Can anyone remember any of the other ROMs they have seen this issue with? I know Task650s build had this problem, but it seems it's fixed in his ROM now.
Would love to know the answer to this as well. I tried SynergyROM and liked it quite a bit but this among some other annoyances pushed me to finding other ROMs.
I had this issue with one of Task's first 4.2.1 builds. Been fixed for a long time there.
I used a combination of contactscleanup and prefixer in the interim to handle the +.
It was one of the stock builds that had this problem, just wish I could remember which one.
I am also having this issue. I am on AT&T, GalaxyMod RLS16 ROM, KT Kernel(2/7 version). Android version 4.1.1.
The "+" sign is causing problems for me when my allowed contacts are not ringing through to me when the phone is in Call Block mode (I keep it this way while I am at work).
If anyone has any suggestions has a solution that I may have missed while searching, it would be appreciated if you would share. Thanks!

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Nexus, I just recently started using AOKP b33 and Franco's kernel. I'm on Rogers. I've noticed that sometimes, the call forwarding or the voicemail notifications will appear in the notification bar, even though I don't use call forwarding and don't even have voicemail. They'll then generally go away for a little while if I try to check the settings, or sometimes just on their own.
I've found several occurrences of this in the forum but no solution. I think it has something to do with AOKP or maybe the radio - I'm running UGCL1, but I've also noticed it with UGLA4. The only other thing I've noticed is that any time this happens, my carrier text changes from the normal ROGERS to "Can Rogers Wireless Inc U" -- maybe some sort of signal drop?
Anybody know what's causing this and how to fix it? Thanks!
Try ##002# in the dialer.
It fixed it for me, but it seems to have come back just the other day.

I'm gonna bump this cuz it happened again to me. I checked if my phone actually was forwarded but it's not, just says it is till I click on forwarding settings.

I am having the same problem on my GNex (AOKP Milestone 5) with TELUS. I'd really like to see a solution to this.

I'm having the same issue as well, sometimes it will automatically enable forwarding then when I go to the option it will automatically update and then disable it.
I'm on Rogers and having the same issue as the first poster. It doesnt actually forward the calls, and when I go to settings and click call forwarding, the icon disappears. I've looked around also and found no solution. I'll keep looking. I have the stock kernal, and build 35 currently.

Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this? I'm having these issues (exactly as described above) with AOKP M6 (using the included kernel.) I'm on Rogers as well.

Follow-up in case someone comes upon this thread with the same issue: I replaced the default AOKP kernel (tuna I think?) with Air Kernel and this issue has not recurred since.
Well, this is an odd issue and i'm sure many other have it because all of my friends with GS3's have this problem. I have a rogers GS3, my friend has a Telus and other videotron and multiple times a week, when we try to send a moderate or long sms (3 lines and more) the phones fails to send the message. This is very odd because i've tried everything from a factory reset, full odin wipe, different roms, and nothing works. I'm on CM10 M2 now and the problem is also there.
When i try to send a long sms, it fails, then i sent a short one right after, it works, then i copy and resetn the original one that failed and it faisl again. I pretty sure many of you have it because we have 3 different GS3 on 3 different networks and it happens to all of us
I tried looking around, i have not found much, maybe somebody has such problem and perhaps a solution?
This happened to me earlier this morning. No idea what can even cause an issue like this.
nobody??? im sure many people have this
I think this is based on all aosp roms.
I don't know if it's fact or opinion, but I always get the "sent" message after receiving the "not sent" error.
In other words, it seems like it still sends the whole text, but just throws you an error initially.
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
Well i can correct you wrong because i've tested it it does not sent the messages nor does it have anything to so with AOSP roms because i've used both AOPK and they both have the issue,
I send long sms no problem.. some in fact so. Long it automatically breaks them into two. What firmware are you on.

First off this belongs in Q&A so I will move it
Second AOKP is also considered an AOSP type ROM
There should be an option in your mms app to split messages over 160 characters. Make sure it is checked.
On the Touchwiz ROMs that came with the SIII and all TW custom ROMs this is not an issue. This is a Touchwiz phone so changing your ROM to anything but that will have some bugs and require fixes and workarounds.

Do other apps work? I use ChompSMS (fixes lots of annoying bugs in the TW SMS app) and I can send long messages fine.

i have to disagree. I had like i said in OP, i tried ALL roms, stock, stock rooted, cyanogen and many other, this was an issue in all roms.

are you using a mms app other than what's provided with the rom? And are you able to send any messages at all? or does it fail to send only on long ones?
If you were on stock and still can't send any/long messages, check your apn settings and make sure it's correct for your provider, especially if you are installing roms (stock or custom) that are specifically developed for AT&T phones. From your profile I'm assuming you have a Canadian version.
Check the APN settings. If that's all correct, return the phone for a new one
all apn settings are fine and this is not an issue with the phone because like i said, it would be one hell of a coincidence if this happened to both of my friends with gs3s on different providers. Also i am using stock sms app and this only happens with moderately long sms, it doesnt always ahppen, its random
If it's intermittent, and it's not just you but also your friends, it sounds like a provider problem. From what I have been reading on different forums, it seems service in Canada has been sketchy because they're adding LTE towers everywhere.
I don't know if that's really the case, but all I can say is texting works well for me down here on the AT&T network, both on AOSP (which also includes AOKP as you were mistaken earlier) and stock-based ROMs, although I do get the error on AOSP based roms for long messages. I've asked my friends and they say they receive the whole message just fine.
Last thing I can think of is if you flashed a custom kernel and it messed with some of your drivers. I know KToons kernel has modified drivers, and you're supposed to flash the stock kernel provided in that thread if you're going back to stock. Try that and see if that fixes your problem.
yup, i've flashed ktoon kenel as i had major issues with faux kernel as per this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937476
i'll report back in a week to see if any different
thanks for you help
New user, first post, if I am missing info then I apologize.
I have the tmobile galaxy s 3 SGH-t999.
Started looking around at different roms, etc, ended up with trying the cyanogenmod 10 first.
Did the required steps, used oden to load the clockworkmod recovery.
Wiped/factory reset, then loaded up the rom. Seemed to work pretty well other than some issues with the cam crashing (seperate issue which I researched and believe I have the answer to). But overall the problem was that intermittently the inbound audio on calls sounded robotic, and reverberating. Also dealt with 4 hour battery life. Tons of info to address later when this issue is corrected however.
Have been digging around on forums, and see this issue, but no articles yet (that i have found) addressed for the SGH-t999.
Ended up re-wiping the phone and put on the liquid smooth rc9 (d2tmo).
So far it appears i am having basically the same exact issues that occurred in cyanogenmod. If I reboot the phone, it will continue. Then for whatever reason the next few calls or so later that are sent or received it sounds fine. Then back to robotic.
End user can hear me fine. The audio issue is just for inbound voice.
Tried to factory reset again, still the same issue.
I have installed the google pack to be able to use play store, etc. Perhaps this is causing the issue?
I did try to get the log cat, but could not replicate the issue while running it, so I am not sure if it would be of any use or not.
Also, this issue does not make a difference whether bluetooth is enabled or not. Am not doing wifi calling, have not tested that yet.
Again very sorry if this article is incomplete.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok, after 4 different roms, and lots of testing, I finally figure it out.
Using Voxer caused the issue. As soon as a voice message is sent using voxer, the problem starts immediately, and is correct by a reboot. Issue immediately returns once Voxer is used.
Any idea of how to work around this, besides the obvious? =)
Wondering if anyone has seen this issue before. (see attachment)
If the caller is in my contact list, name is displayed without issues. However, if they are not, I get a string of strange characters appear as the name. Same goes for Private Callers, or unknown numbers.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 running AOKP d2att (4.2.1 JOP40D) Build 1.4.2012
Kernel Version: 3.0.57
Android Version: 4.2.1
Baseband: I747MVLDLK4
Model: SGH-I747(M)
Originaly purchased from Rogers (Canada) but used on the Fido network. I have had no other issues, LTE works great via FIDO or Rogers apn's and caller ID worked fine in stock.
I also have the same issue with CM10. Any help would be great!
I experience this as well. It started happening after i changed from running stock Touchwiz to Task's AOKP. It would be nice to have it fixed but as long as I can see the number of the caller that's good enough.
I was afraid someone was going to say that. However, I don't believe this is an issues we should have to live with, there has to be a reason as to why this is occurring. Anyone have any ideas?

Full Wipe, Reflash Everything. Should be your first thought every time there is some funky problem that no one else really has.

Agreed, and believe me, I have already been down that road numerous times. After a full wipe and reflash back to stock, everything works fine. As well as simply restoring to stock after AOKP/CM flash via CWM backup. Yet, as soon as a custom ROM is applied, good bye call display. Something has to be missing...
My friend is having this issue with his Fido Galaxy S3 running CM10 stable. A fix is definitely needed!
Same thing here on latest AOKP on SGS3 on Fido.
Rogers here, same issue. CM10 stable. If the person is in my contact list it shows normally, but the caller id is wonky as described above.
I think since people on the contact list show normally this issue takes a little while for some people to notice. At first I thought it was just some foreign guy calling me Then a few more calls... and I found this thread, although I would describe the display as "garbled" really. But obviously more than a few people have this issue.
This might be one of you guys, http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=7074 -- talking about CM10.1, but this bug is in CM10 too obviously.
Possible fix
Hi guys,
I was thinking about this and noticed that people with this problem seemed to be on the I747MVLDLK4 baseband. It occurred to me to try switching it out and seeing if that had any effect.
Yes it does.
I used my co-workers phone (removing his phone number from my contacts first of course) and called my phone. Normally I get gibberish (I tested immediately before flashing to verify) and viola, my caller ID works now, with the tiny exception that there is a trailing "@" symbol. But otherwise it showed up correctly.
I flashed the I747MVLLH1 baseband and that *seems* to have fixed the issue. Apparently the speeds, connectivity and such can vary between basebands and your location so you may want to try a few basebands listed here and see if any of these work for you. Just remember not to flash an AT&T baseband on a Canadian phone or the other way around.
Post your results if this works for you. Cheers!
That is great news!!! I will test a few and post results.
Link is broken tho....
Edit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
Edit2:
WORKED LIKE A F**KING CHARM!!!!!
Went down the list flashing each one and doing some various tests. Placing/receiving calls, LTE connectivity, speed tests, etc... Safe to say, I747MVLLH1 seems to be working best.
My phone is originally from Rogers, but service is with Fido (Fido sim) yet still using the Rogers APN settings.
Right on man Glad it worked for more than just me. That default base band actually seems pretty lousy in general, thinking back I'm not sure it was really working in the stock, factory firm ware either. I recall seeing unknown caller from phone numbers that I knew had id's.
Cheers!
Edit: can we mark this solved?

This worked for me as well, thank you.
Same problem on my LG P930 from Bell, unlocked and connected to rogers. Using CM 10.1 2/21 nightly currently, but it was happening on older nightly's too.
I guess I have to hunt down baseband options for my handset unless other solutions have come up since the last posts to this thread.

Open jira report
There is an open JIRA report against CM10.1 RC3 in regards to this issue.
Yes flashing an older ICS modem will work temporarily but there is obviously a problem with the newer JB modems released for our devices that we can hopefully get resolved.
If you want to see this fixed, sign in to JIRA and vote for the issue to help get it some support.
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-1202
I also understand that not all of you are necessarily using CM10.1 but you may be using a ROM that pulls it's base code from CM so there is a good chance if they fix it, it will be fixed for whatever other ROM you are using.
Thanks.
Hey All,
So, I'm having a weird issue with my T-989. I get intermittent audio loss upon making and receiving calls. Refer to the following examples:
Call comes in; I swipe to answer..."Hello...Hello...Hello....-__-" I can not hear the person on the other end of the call and they are un able to hear me. I've asked countless people that call me on a daily basis on their experience when this happens. They say the call connects but no audio; they then get confused and hang up if I don't end the call my self. Normally I'm the one that ends the call now and I'll call back....sometimes I hear ringing and I know that it'll work ok.
Sometimes, the call log counter starts....but I hear no ringing, HOWEVER the person I'm calling is actually being called and tries to answer the phone...but because I don't hear the ringing...I don't even realize that the phone has established a connection.
Sometimes....everything works fine. I'll answer the phone and it'll work like a charm or I'll make a call and it'll work like a charm. Two hours later...same weird issue.
I wanted to know if people had similar problems.
It's getting increasingly annoying at this point. At first I thought maybe it was my service. Then I thought it was my ROM / Radio. Honestly, I know people who have the same service and plan as me.
Phone is running P.A.C 22.0.1
This issue happened on older versions of which I completed wiped and re installed newer versions of P.A.C; it happened on AOKP; happened on Paranoid Android.....
I'm guessing the only thing I haven't tried changing is the Radio that comes with each ROM.
I am on the T-Mobile Pre Paid Unlimited Talk / Text w/ 500mb Data plan. [I work in data centers, unlimited INTERWEBS!]
Anyone else have similar symptoms? I'll be getting the S4 soon, but I wanted to resolve this issue before hand because I'll be giving it to a friend.
Thanks in advance for any help! :victory::highfive:
I have been living that same issue for months, between several ROMs and kernels and radios. Ive learned to use this process......answer call, wait 3 seconds, then saying "hello". I know, its silly.
I have noticed its seems worse when answering calls from others running aosp (cm10)roms.
I've have not tried any touchwiz ROMs
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda premium
Waiting 3 seconds and then saying hello works? For me the issue happens when placing calls as well. I installed the newest P.A.C last night when I posted the OP, so far no problems. I'll update again if I have any issues moving forward.
What radio are you using?
Now - UVMC6
As I said, as of yet, I haven't had any issues. Let's see over the next couple of days....
