[Q] How to unroot at&t s3 ICS? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I want to un-root my at&t s3 that has stock ICS so I can take the JB OTA update. Found the instructions and a .tar file. After Odin completed, the phone is still rooted. Ran Odin with the .tar file again and the phone was still rooted. I guess the .tar file that was posted was already rooted. Can someone please point me to the "stock" ICS file to flash? I have tried Googling for it and I have searched XDA. Any help would be truly appreciated.
Thanks

Return to stock via odin?

I rooted my phone yesterday using the toolkit from the development forums. I created a backup of my stock ROM before I flashed anything new but apparently I messed that up b.c trying to restore that, the toolkit told me I have no restore files. Anyway I flashed the unofficial cm10 build and I am having some radio issues, so I wanted to go back to stock until a more official build comes out. I have tried doing that through the toolkit a few times but it continues to fail.
Looking around online I found the stock ROM from Google and dl'd it (mysid-imm76k-factory-98d21321.tar is the file) I am pretty noobish when it comes to flashing stuff and i have never seen a .tar but I found that Odin can flash .tar. so my plan was to get the odin app flash that file and hope I did everything okay.
A couple questions: is this going to work okay? Do I need to flash kernels or radios or anything else or is this a complete return to stock? Will this keep me rooted and unlocked?
you dont need ODIN.

Thank you. Don't know why I couldn't find that.
Any chance you could explain what odin is/.tar files are? And how they are different?

[Q] Correct tar file to root tmobile s3 with JB 4.1.1

I know this is a noob question, but I'm a bit lost here. I updated my phone to 4.1.1. I'd like to root it. I've d/l Odin, played with it and am comfortable with the process. I understand once it is rooted I can install clockworkmod etc. I just need someone to point me in the direction of the correct tar file to root a Tmobile Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean 4.1.1. Thanks for your help.
Should just flash root66 through Odin. It's in the sticky thread in android development.

[Q&A] Rooting

Hi all, I've rooted a few verizon s3's with the following methods.. First time from ICS using rootdebugfs tool from one of the great guys here. Then my second phone took the JB update. So I had to ODIN to a stock VZW image and then run debugfs tool. The last few I've just used ODIN and flashed a sweet root injected stock JB image then ran EZ-Unlock and EZ-Recovery and put what I want on there.
So here lies the question. I'm doing my Grandpa's phone i747. Can I just Odin CWMrecovery to the phone and flash root.zip from clockworkmod? He is on stock JB? Am I doing the long method?
Any input is appreciated thankyou

also, once it's rooted, i'd download rom manager and update his cwm version (6.0.2.3 is current)

Return to stock

I've searched around and found only 1thread on returning to stock and it seems to assume you are running a modified stock rom, and uses a few different apps to acheive Stock status. I'm looking for a stock odin file that I can boot into download mode and flash and be returned to stock. Does that exist? I'm currently running CleanRom 4.8 with CWM recovery. I'm trading my Note 2 in tomorrow for the GS4 and need it back stock! Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!
Kind of a confusing post... Just flash the stock file in odin...

When you FLASH a STOCK file in ODIN your system status will NO longer say modified, not sure what you were reading but they were incorrect.

if by firmware you mean bootloader/modem , you will brick if you try to downgrade bootloader. maybe someone else with more knowledge will chyme in.
"all i can really do , is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
What ever version was before 4.4.2 FJN1 that I have now to get rid of being rooted etc. Surely version before this still has locked boot loaders I can return to?
Surely someone has a stock FNJ1 I can Odin into my i747. Files in mine have gotten corrupted. Will someone help me Out with file I can Odin in phone. There is no ODIN .tar file for NJ1, at&t never released one. It was just an OTA update which was pointless because it didn't make anything better from the previous NE4 firmware. Have you tried doing factory data reset?
I have a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/how-to-restore-device-status-to-t2832880
It's for Android 4.3, but should also work on 4.4
