ITS HERE! A better Google voice app! - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

Its called messaging+Google voice. Its just like stock, but it uses Google voice for sending texts.
Sorry if this has been posted before

Worth a shot.

For $4.99 I'll pass.

Weird, it was free for me.

I see that it is free for a trial period.

You can already send texts with Google now... I don't get it
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

It uses the default messaging interface as oppose to the Google voice interface, which is horrible. I like this app so far. Its helpful because I don't have a text messaging plan and only use Google voice for messaging.
5 bucks...sold!

Doesn't seem to be working for me. Whenever I try to send any text via Google Voice I get a red exclamation error.

You can't initiate texts from the stock messaging app that go out under your GV number.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

Like the Idea, but not sure I trust an App that can monitor messages sent to/from my phone, and also can request authentication tokens from my google account... Or an App developed by someone that can not even provide a valid Developers website link.
Not a fan of 3rd party apps that require access to this type of information.
And if you Google the Developer "DreamBig, Inc" it's all about College related stuff...

It's been working as well as expected for me. Not too worried about privacy concerns. It uses Google services to access Voice and not your username and password. But thank goodness for the paranoid/careful.

I had that issue in the beginning also. Then I went under Google voice and unchecked notification and the message asking permission to log in through Google voice appeared.

Yeah, no idea. I must be doing something else wrong somewhere. I have personally NEVER been able to get text via Google voice to work. I've tried numerous times and just get frustrated because I know its supposed to work.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

Also... As you can see in the screenshot, I don't even have an option in the dropdown for texts.

tried it, didn't work, deleted it.

Did you use the new "Messaging" app beside the already existing stock "Messaging" app?

yeah, but this isn't too important for me. The risk/reward factor is too high for me, for an unknown company to access my Google account, to do nothing really new for me. besides, I have unlimited texts.

App works great and since I use Google voice as my main number this is a function I have always wanted.
But now reading the couple posts I am paranoid and debating on uninstalling.

It passedv the Google tests, but it's just not important to me, if you use gvoice exclusively, then maybe it's worth a shot.

[Q] SMS limit? [SOLVED]

If I send out too many messages in a short amount of time, I get a pop up telling if I should allow the messaging app to continue sending. But it repeats the question with every text. I know it's a google malware security feature, but it's super annoying. Anyway to turn it off?

Wifi texting

Ok I will be going to a place where no company gets signal, meaning I can't roam, but I will still have Wifi so I'm wondering what, if I can, do i have to do in order to get Wifi texting? I will and am running CM10 M2.
Thanks

Best thing I would do is use a free text service like text free since it uses data only.

Use Google voice with your current number. You should be able to text. But no mms

Nothing special just select to use your current number. I would sign up using a pc though. Far more options and easier to navigate. And then download the app and sign in with your login. G voice is an great service I don't know why more people don't use it

That one costs $2.99/month for the service. The regular Zipwhip app works, and it's free to use.

Personally I would just use google voice. Just download > link it to your sprint number > done. Only thing is google voice can't receive mms messages, like pictures / video. But you can still text and get voice mail, and no additional cost.

You actually can receive mms messages. You just have to set up Google Voice to where you want to receive messages with your email as well.
If someone says they sent you a picture and you don't see it using Google Voice, just check your gmail. and go through the conversation and you should see an attachment.

I used it, it's good for texting with friends from other countries. But it's redundant if they already have facebook messenger.

Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I've never used because I don't txt much but but I know how feature rich these korean chat apps can be.
It does help if you're trying to send larger than MMS supported video files, so I guess that's a plus.
Never used it ... same here dont text that much ....

Ur cute
Between the unlimited text + Google Talk and Voice, I really don't need another messaging service, so it got deleted
noted for future reference on my Note 2

I personally like it better than the stock one on my GS3. the problem is that not everyone would load this on their phones to text. mostly everybody uses the stock sms and don't care for something different. But how come there's no widget for this app?

Was using Youmail until recently when I had an issue with the app continually trying to sync and wouldn't delete properly.
Went to Google Voice and like it a bit more. Lost the cool factor of the different types of voicemail announcements, but it integrates with your dialer app so my voicemail shows up under call history. Kind of cool to have that. No need to open a second app to get voicemail.

Download Google voice from play store if you don't have an account you can get one free at the website, after that you can set it up when you downloaded it

I use Hullomail. You can also set individual voicemail messages for each contact. I rather like it and the less tech savvy amongst friends and family are amazed they get a personalised message when they end up going through to voicemail.
It will also alert you to missed calls that you may have had when you had no signal.

saw 2 files you removed that I'm just giving an experienced warning on for others...if you remove the voicemail, you will not receive any notifications if you get voice messages, again I know from experience
not gonna double quote the other pic I saw but the google text to speech file, another 1 that if you ever use your phone on the road for gps, you will not get turn by turn voice directions...yes I've done this and experienced the loss of turn by turn voice
other than that, nice listings and compilation for users

Thank you for the for letting them know that , voicemail for me if I miss a call I just hit and hold 1 and takes you to the old style voicemail
And I dont use voice stuff at all for my phone kinda pointless to me when you have google on mobile web...lol...
Tell you what man deleting all this is amazing how much battery I have gained and how much smoother the phone and performance is
If you and any of you have anymore pointers for the apps being deleted please feel free to share
This list is the list I personally deleted because I never have or never will I use
hey man no problem, I'm like you, I rip all that crap out!! lol even the custom roms, but sometimes when I miss calls at work, I don't bother just dialing the voicemail and next thing you know, I get the message over a week late lol gotta love the space it all frees up too and speeding up the phone and saving battery life for sure
again good posting up of the pics for people to actually see and follow along
