What do YOU want in a ROM?

This community has already greatly contributed to Whitehawkx and I. In return we'd like to offer you the same.
We have LOTS of ideas for the ROM we are working on and are implementing all of them as time permits. In the 24-48 hours him and I have had this phone we've already made a huge amount of progress.
So, be realistic, be creative, and tell us what you'd like to see in a custom ROM.

I do agree with the guys above me with having CM7 or MIUI, but I would also like the running apps carousel like the one from ics. I think that's what it's called. I have to double check on that. I know when you long press the home button, you get to see most recent apps, but I sure do like the look of the app carousel from ics. That'd be nice to have but I'm still looking forward to yours and WhiteHawkx's roms either way.

EDT tweaks (hawks) I'm sure it's already in there. dsexton's as. Speed and battery tweaks. And whatever else you guys can cook up I'm sure you accomplish what most want without any ideas!!!

I guess I should have clarified. This will be based off Samsung software/firmware.
We won't be "porting" a ROM or working on CM7 for this phone. We will be extending the functionality/feature base of the Sammy ROM. It only makes sense to do it like this. You get the best combination of speed, stability, and features.

Original SGS Sms - Should work now I think. Maybe we'll have that as an addon if everything works properly.
Gesture controls you can disable from Settings menu, no?
Swap support like RAM swap? Why? There a ridiculous amount of RAM on this phone.

After all the great experiences with your guys work on the Vibrant Im excited to see what you bring here.
I would like the see the usual stuff. Multiple lockscreens, improved battery life, smoothed out UI, NO BATTERY PERCENTAGE IN THE BATTERY please or at least an option to turn it off. Voodoo color( I know that isnt on your end but I still want it.) A theme engine like in cm7 would be cool to.

^^THIS^^... And an advanced power menu, maybe extended quick settings in the pulldown, CRT on/off, And definitely some OC/UV and OC'd GPU would be awesome....

Dark themed.
Get rid of the home button delay if possible.
Performance and battery tweaks.
Nuke the bloat.
Nuke the startup/shutdown sounds.
Crt animations.
Power menu.
Camera power button as shutter button hack.

[MOD] wildfire s

ive had a go at making a mod which includes:
battery icon
other icons
status bar (with glowing affect)
sliding tab lock screen (not ring)
ICS windows animation
fonts
boot animation (guessing s-off only)
will upload pics when i find out how to
hope people can help make it better as its my first attempt.
everything worked for me except boot animation (im not s-off )
update: changed font to something more readable

make sure you remember to back up your rom before you install mod
and remember be nice

After installing this mod..
1.The time duration in call doesn't work..shows the term "select word" instead of time duration..
2.In Mx Player..the vido. lenght is not displayed..shows the term "select word"
if u cud fix these...the mod would be excellent..

I like your mod. People might be able to use UOT too but I'm glad you tried. I think the mod is great.

Haven't tried yet but I would like to ask you one thing.
You tried to make animation from video? (let's say YouTube video)
Because if I make animation from rendered video, I always get white flashes between loops.
But if I make my one pictures, from PhotoShop (video which I render to png's, not to video format) - it's o.k.
It's soooo frustrating, can't find any solution.
I saw few posts related to this problem (I'm not the only one) but no answer.
One guy suggested that I should try to set FPS to lower value - but that doesn't help.
I have few animations and I find a way to include sound in it but they all flash white so it's useless....

U should keep on trying bro
i used Sony vegas, for converting and rendering. and boot animation factory for making the zip file.
yeah i used a video file. It took me some hours ( half day) to make this work. i got many errors while making this one.
i got white flashed & some times no boot animation just black screen.
i failed in adding sound, i have to learn more. and there are few steps that has to be done correctly, when converting a video to boot animation and to play sound while boot.
now i know to do that , this boot animation is the result.
i intend to learn from someone, if they have helping mentality.
btw fps settings changes the speed in which the animation runs. depending on the animation we can increase the fps.
in this im using 20. if u use 30 the animation will be faster. thats what i understood from researching. correct me if im wrong.
next is adding sound and text animations on video etc, thats what im thinking to do next.

Have rain sounds?
Edit : tried it,white screen appears more than 3x while playing the animation...

XS, this is tablet.
For sound you just have to rename mp3 to bootanim.mp3 and put it in a root of bootanimation.zip (and remember to set compression method to storage)
You are right for FPS, that's, of course, how you speed up animation.

Perfomance
Using My phone with 4.4.2 for about 2 days,I must say the overall smoothness and fluidity as compared to 4.1.2 has been greatly improved. Stability of the system has been increased, no lag at all.. as far as the benchmarks goes, I have been getting low scores as compared to 4.1.2(samples in attachments)
Battery
You can say that Battery timing has been improved in kitkat, I managed to get almost 4 and a half hour of screen on time whereas on jellybean I usually got maximum 4 hours with the same usage(samples in attachments)
I think that the Camera has also improved..
One more thing Battery Gets charged quickly as compaed to 4.1 with same charger..
I have not yet rooted my phone or installed any thing to save battery and during testing ECO mode was not enabled.

And I also forget to mention that the phone standby has also been improved, I left my phone over night and when I woke up only 1% was lost. I think its great!!:laugh:

please put a screenshot from the laucher. (not drawer) , and from the keyboard. i find the keyboard very ugly.. and the launcher icons (the doc) way to up...
and what theme do you use? because i see changed icons ^^ .

Well more than knock off i was interested in having knock on feature to turn the screen on...because it's a pain to turn the screen on every time by pressing the power button which is oddly located and i am wary of it breaking it sometime due to the constant use...

I think the theme is MoonShine G3 from Lg G2 forum and thanks Will put launcher and keyboard screenshot, you are right the keyboard is kind of ugly..

Can confirm, no 2g only 3g and automatically (4g also i guess, can t test)
Battery is ok, but mp decission is pretty confused, sometimes al 4 cores online without doing anything. Let s hope final build will work as it should.

hmm..aparently if you swipe up at the doc there is some application that let you launch others apps. can you identify in system/app what is her name? maybe if we delete/disable the doc will go down where it belongs..

To prevent exiting and to set new profile just TAP anywhere (not on controls), anywhere on the interface.

Will this work for rooted Verizon LG G2? I just want to get the screen temp right. I have a spyder4pro I use to calibrate my displays. I wish I could do a full calibration on this screen!

1. can you make the sliders bigger (wider)?
2. maybe adding - and + buttons (left/right of the sliders) that change the value by 1 step down or up
3. app opens after reboot, applies the settings and stays open until i close it manually (is this normal or a bug?)
if you need a graphic layout for the app - you know where to find me

your tool changes settings on the fly and without asking for a reboot...
so, if after the reebot i decide to change something, i'll open the app myself... makes sense?
