I sold a rooted Evo with MIUI and now the buyer is unable to activate it. Is it true that Sprint won't activate it since it is rooted? Would a different ROM make a difference? The buyer has tried to unroot it, but has been unsuccessful. She only has a 64mb card right now, so I think that might be why she can't unroot it. I told her to get a bigger sd card and that might help. I've seen other rooted Evo's being sold, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to sell it as a rooted device. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks.
If rooted with unrevoked : get S-on tool on your sd card and flash from recovery and run a ruu from PC. No need for a bunch of SD space.
What method was used to root?

Its the miui just have her flash the classic by tommytomato and call in they will activate it right up i just swapped my evo for my et4g the reactivated the evo on my line that had an intercept on it, all 3 devices were and are still rooted and were rooted during activation the girl i talked to while activating was asking if i had rooted my phones cuz she had rooted her et4g and was recommending roms for me to try on it sprint really doesnt care if u root unless ypu admit ypu bricked the device when trying to get a replacement. everyone i deal with at sprint is always bragging about their rooted phones and tech support gives me root onlu options to try when trouble shooting issues like data loss , so just have her flash a rom with the epst wprking and it will be able to activate yoi have to use dialer codes during activation and epst is required for them to work miui doesnt have an epst in the rom which is why she cant actovate
edit: ignore all the typos im still getting used to the keyboard being so much bigger than the evo lol

Well that sucks i didnt even know they made micro sd that small you can get an 8gb for 20 whats a 64mb 99 cents?
Edit: walmart has 2gb for $5 , 8 gb for 20 and 16gb for 30 a 2 gb would be enough for a cpl roms but 8gb is more practical for the evo i use a 8gb and a 16 gb have the 16 in my main phone which was the evo now the sgs2 et4g and put the 8 back in the evo but honestly the sgs2 could function with an 8gb rather nicely since it has a 16gb internal sd that u can use just like the external u can even flash from it so having my 16 in here is kinda overkill since i have 20gb free with all my stuff on here, anyways 5 bucks for a 2gb to get flashed and activated isnt bad or 20 to be set for a while would be the best option so she doesnt spend 5 on a 2gb to just turn around and spend 20 in a few weeks when the 2gb is crammed to the gills

The other option short of buying an sd is for her to run a ruu from her pc because a stock/stockish sense rom with epst is the ONLY way to activate it, however using an ruu theres a real solid chance of her losing root and locking up the bootloader

Yeah, I think if you buy an evo without an SD card or with a 64mb SD card and need some else to help you run the device, you might not need a rooted phone anyway lol.

EL29 sucked but i flashed the leaked fb21 and my data om 3g went from 100kbps to 1mbps rooting only took about 10mins most of which was waiting for odin to load and unpack the rom i had to read for a few hours cuz its wayyy different than the evo amd the recovery is baked into the kernel but the actual process was simple and painless once i knew what the terms meant and ****
Edit: the nice thing is no locked bootloader just grab the one click odin for simple root access then the auto root nodata and it will do everything in one click then open auto root choose your rom (mine was stock el29) and type a few letters and enter in auto root and it flasbes a kernel with the rogue recovery and u can then flash any custom rom u want ics leaks are usually flashed with odin cuz they dont have recovery baked in yet but the leaks are all touchwiz leaks of the sprint ota

I was really really thinking about jumping to this device but then I saw it was a fixed battery, locked boot loader and if I remember does not have expandable SD slot? All of those are deal killers for me. Although there nexus device is supposed to basically have the same inards as the g minus the 13mp camera, but it will have key lime pay. But still same deal breakers for me as I listed above.

I honestly usually never open my back cover. The SD card is an issue but I can always buy a tad more space. The razr in Verizon doesn't have a removable battery but everyone still loves it. However it would be nice to see a built in extended battery like the razr maxx

Non removable battery is just a no go for me in general lol..rather be able to remove/replace battery if need be (cheaper then a whole phone!) battery life is a constant battle, But overall, i'm typically near a charger lol (have one in car and i work at a computer) so i can always find power! lol..

There was a posting on engadget.com this morning of leaked info of the LG nexus thats come out. I hope that, thats not the only model cause according to the article it stated that it only had 8gb of internal storage and fixed battery and NO sd expansion. Total deal breakers! Also has the 8mp camera not the 13mp sony based lens that the optimus G comes with.

This was a decision for me as well. Sdcard and battery killed it for me. I get great battery life with the s3 yet am still getting more batteries. I gsme or 2 can really empty a battery.
Sd, I look at it like this. 2 years ago I got an 8gb card. Never thought I would fill it up as I had hardly filled the 4gb before it. Now I have a 16 card along with my internal and they're starting to fill. Few games and backups will take a ton of space.

I'd say do it, you will never know whats wrong with a phone unless you try it. and at the end of the day you can just post the phone on craigslist and put trade for an s3 or note 2. can always go back. I'm actually looking for the same phone as you are offered.

Boot loader unlock is in the works.. Not sure on progress, but theres a few XDA devs working on this for the Optimus G. Specs aren't bad. But biggest turn off as mentioned is difficult to remove battery (3 screws on back plate, 2 on battery.. PITA to remove) and no SD expansion slot. I use my SD quite a bit due to flashing roms and things like that, so it's a deal breaker on this end.
Phone seems interesting. Quad core s4 right. I know its an lg. But let's not all forget the epic 4g when it was an Samsung and there was no support

I think with LG making the newest Nexus device this phone will get good support for updates considering its pretty much the same phone. Samsung used to be horrible with updates before the Galaxy Nexus so hopefully this helps LG along their way also. Seems like a great phone I wouldn't think you would be disappointed with a S3 or the Optimus G.
