LG Optimus G is coming to sprint, who is jumping ship? I know I might, I held out on the S3 possibly for this.
Great specs big screen why not? If development gets going like the e4gt, LG's software might not be a problem. Let me hear from you

I was really really thinking about jumping to this device but then I saw it was a fixed battery, locked boot loader and if I remember does not have expandable SD slot? All of those are deal killers for me. Although there nexus device is supposed to basically have the same inards as the g minus the 13mp camera, but it will have key lime pay. But still same deal breakers for me as I listed above.

I honestly usually never open my back cover. The SD card is an issue but I can always buy a tad more space. The razr in Verizon doesn't have a removable battery but everyone still loves it. However it would be nice to see a built in extended battery like the razr maxx

There was a posting on engadget.com this morning of leaked info of the LG nexus thats come out. I hope that, thats not the only model cause according to the article it stated that it only had 8gb of internal storage and fixed battery and NO sd expansion. Total deal breakers! Also has the 8mp camera not the 13mp sony based lens that the optimus G comes with.

Just curious, who's planning on getting the Nexus 4? Also, what are your thoughts on Google not adding expandable SD card slots to their Nexus devices? (I guess to push Google Drive) And also, no LTE chip.
For around $350?
I for one, (because I'm an Android fanatic), do plan on ordering one. (Despite some of the cons listed above) Because of it's specs. Just wanna get a feel for everybody else's thoughts.

LOL the nexus 4 is a poorly planned joke. All they had to do was listen to the community on this one. Obviously Samsung did that when designing the S3. Nonremovable batteries are a must. NO LTE WTF this isn't 2010, it's 2012! No sd card slot either?! .........

Yeah that thing bombed! LOL
WeWell if you think about it, for Google to be able to hit that magic $399 pricetag, some things need to get axed. The Galaxy Nexus was $399, and had a slow OMAP processor and lousy camera and cheapy build quality. Google and LG probably thought about it and moved their priorities around a bit. All those three things are being addressed. You get the latest S4 Pro quad-core, decent 8MP camera, and "much better than Samsung" build quality. The sealed battery and no MicroSD is Google's own deliriums, so you can't blame LG for that. That really only leaves the LTE chip that can be axed to save money, since they are still expensive. This is primarily an unlocked world phone that accepts SIM cards. Most of the world doesn't have LTE yet. The ones that do have spotty coverage. And honestly you will notice the faster quad-core browser rendering more than the increased data speed. A phone can only render so fast. I've had 20Mbps cable and 3Mbps dsl and for daily surfing purposes, they aren't that different, since websites are designed for that lower tier. On a phone, the faster browser would make the bigger difference. Not to mention the battery life saved. I think it's a smart move. Right now, I don't even have a data plan, so I Wifi hop everywhere and the $$$ saved from having to buy a $600+ LTE phone with the latest processor/screen combo is just a no-brainer. It caters to my needs especially.

That was a Google Experience phone, meaning it was just stock Android from LG.
This is a Nexus device, so all support will come from Google, and not LG.
It's an insane deal, but no LTE or microSD expansion is a real turn off...
I am thinking about it but im leaning more towards the no
The main UPS:
The Display (no matter if LG sucks, They make the best displays hands down. no argument there)
Processor (Well the S3 is pretty smooth so)
Battery life (Friking 15 hours talk time! TALK ABOUT OPTIMIZATION)
***if you really think about it, those are the things that mainly drive us to what we consider a "good" phone.
The Main Down:
Its made by LG (and for those who say google deals with everything, um about that. My nexus 7 had to get serviced by Asus not Google..correct me if im wrong though)
No SD card slot (Although we know all nexuses are like this we pray one day Google releases a Nexus with SD expand ability)
T- Mobile 21mbps HSPA+ (Comon really??? So my 18Mbps down would drop
Personal Preference: APT-X ( I have apt-x BT headphones and i know the sound difference between the apt x codec and SBC codec)
Its a good device, but I may keep the s3. I am drooling on that nexus 10 though. Maybe next year
Can someone confirm that Gizmodo has their facts straight and that this phone will be unlocked for $300?!?! surely thats not right. Then we could all sell our GS3s and get this phone for free and have money left over 0.o
EDIT "Great value
We’ve always focused on building great devices at great value. And we think today’s devices offer the very best that money can buy. Here are more details on when and where you can pick up your next Nexus device:
Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details)."
AHHHHH FREE FLAGSHIP PHONE!!!!
299 at the play store with no contract for the 8gb,
But i agree with others, after owning a G2X, I will never purchase LG again,

Lmao. G2x wasn't a Nexus phone. It just came with Vanilla Android. Spec-wise, the G2X isn't too far from the S3 imo. Besides, Google wouldn't have chosen LG to be the maker of their flagship device for nothing. I love both LG and Samsung, but in my experience and share of phones...i'd take LG for its overall build quality.
With dropbox, box, google drive, etc...I can do without the microSD...if this has a lot of developer support, I'd seriously consider jumping ship...I'm not overly impressed with the SGS III...

This was a decision for me as well. Sdcard and battery killed it for me. I get great battery life with the s3 yet am still getting more batteries. I gsme or 2 can really empty a battery.
Sd, I look at it like this. 2 years ago I got an 8gb card. Never thought I would fill it up as I had hardly filled the 4gb before it. Now I have a 16 card along with my internal and they're starting to fill. Few games and backups will take a ton of space.

Boot loader unlock is in the works.. Not sure on progress, but theres a few XDA devs working on this for the Optimus G. Specs aren't bad. But biggest turn off as mentioned is difficult to remove battery (3 screws on back plate, 2 on battery.. PITA to remove) and no SD expansion slot. I use my SD quite a bit due to flashing roms and things like that, so it's a deal breaker on this end.

the 1000 hasnt even been officially announced, and the 1250 really no need to troll. TBH i really want this phone its just i can get around why they wouldnt announce a newer flagship later in the year instead of a month after the release of their current one.
Owning both, this is not that. Different target markets altogether

Get it while it is cheap. Its a great phone with plenty of power and an extra big screen to go with. Do you really need a slightly faster processor that will cost an arm and a leg at first.

Yeah, what he^^^ said. Cellphones are like computers now(the market that is), as soon as you click buy it's outdated.

How to disable thermal throttling on LG devices

Great hope you enjoy it. I can't wait till the bootloader is hacked. The pre loaded stuff is junk except for the Remote Control. I upgraded from the Nexus 4 which basically has the same specs but has the LTE chip deactivated. I paid 300 for that and 50 for this so I feel the phone is way worth it. When a true 8 core comes out then I won't blame you for waiting.
