I haven't seen or heard of any with sound but I think in general you might be looking for boot up and/or shut down animations? Not sure if you can use a still image or not. How this kinda helps.

I no that you have to get an app in the market or 4 shared to turn the file into an ogg file some kind of file converter. Then get root explorer go to system/ media/ui open, then paste the ogg file in here choose the power_down.ogg move the original file some where safe, then the ogg file you converted name it like the one you are taking out /reboot n you should have what your looking for?

As far as not animations, download rom manager and scroll over to interface and you can download a ton of cool ones... I haven't seen any sound ones, but i have 30+ boot animations on my sd card that i can select from... You can always add the animations to the randomizer in rom manager in the pro version and it will boot a different one each time you boot the phone up... I can do box a few animations and rom manager pro if you need...

Have you found an amend version? If so look in the development threads for the converter tool. I just tried it the other day for a couple things and it works great!
Can you just pull the boot animation out of an i9000 rom and then copy it to the proper place on your phone? Then you wouldn't need a flashable zip that was made with edify.

figured id throw this out there for people who arent running a custom rom/kernel that supports bootanimation.zip. i got tired of the annoying tmobile bootanimation and sound, so i grabbed the boot animation from the international version. heres what i did...
*Reminder: you have to be rooted to do this*
1. download THIS zip file and unzip
2. navigate to /system/media and replace bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg with the files from the zip
3. navigate to /system/media/video/shutdown and replace shutdown.qmg with the one from the zip
4. reboot and enjoy!
*optional*
if you want to remove the startup/shutdown sounds do this:
navigate to /system/media/audio/ui and delete these 3 files (or rename with .bak at the end of the file name): PowerOff.ogg, PowerOff.wav and PowerOn.ogg
*Option 2* flash the zip below in recovery, thanks to cybrnook!

Yeah, I went to the CM10 ROM and it just has their boot animation. But now that you reminded me I do remember the stock T-Mobile boot animation being obnoxious. I'd get rid of that asap as well.

No worries
Since I don't have an SGS3 yet I wasn't even sure what the boot up looked like myself. Honestly I'm surprised the international version doesn't have the nice Samsung Galaxy S logo with the S pulsating.
Thanks I ws tired of the T-Mobile one too

Anyone know where I can find a GS2 scaled version of this? Ive used the pulsating S one but it lags a bit, they have updated the speed of it but its only in bootanimation.zip and I use stock kernel that doesnt support that.. and i think this one is plain and simple than the pulsating one.. or if anyone know if this could work since its not all over the screen, only center animation.. thank you.

do custom roms differ in boot ani location than stock?
location should be the same, difference is in TW roms the boot ani is saved under a .qmg file, in aosp or cm10 its a .zip file
All stock ROMs and most custom ROMs do not have custom boot built into their kernels. Just placing a bootanimation.zip into the system/media folder will not make the phone display the custom boot versus Sammie's stock one. This is why I posted my hack and a how-to as well as make a flasable zip for everyone to use. Check out my mods thread in development for more information on this.

So we finally have a method to change our boot animations without using the very expensive program to create QMG files.
I am going to give you an E4GT specific tutorial that I have come up with because this method was created and used for the Note II.
Thank you to smokin1337 for posting the Note II version HERE
"Update: As pointed out in the comments, this was also accomplished by XDA Senior Member anbech in his thread originally aimed at the SGS3."
SGS3 Thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897969
Here we go!!!
ROOT is required.
1. Add bootanimation.zip of your choice to /system/media
2. Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery of your choice other than stock.
Flash Gears-Bootanim.zip in recovery of choice(other than stock) for generic boot animation. Will also fix a bug of a non working boot animation causing a completely black screen. Even after boot. Just flash this and it will fix your problem.
Those two files are attached.
If you want sound add an ogg file named PowerOn.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui, if sound doesn't work be sure /system/bin/samsungpowersoundplay exists if its there it will play sound if not its not included in your rom download it HERE then put it where it belongs and fix the perms which should be rwxr-xr-x
Reboot...Enjoy
Some custom boot animations
Kick Ace Boot Animations
12MaNy's Boot animations
You can also use Rom Toolbox found in the market to change your boot animations to any that they have on their server. Some may not work but most do. Don't worry if it doesn't work, your phone will still boot fine. I will go over how to make RTB animations work correctly.
Flash bootanimation4u.zip in recovery
Grab ROM Toolbox from the market. There is a lite version that is free and a Pro version that is $4.99. I highly suggest getting the pro version.
Next you will scroll over into the 'Interface section of RTB and go down to boot animations.
That will load up all of the available animations to install.
Next you will press the menu softkey and a menu will pop up.
Hit the second option for the 'Install Location'.
Change it to "/system/media/" (No quotes) Also do not change the file name.
After that you can install any normal boot animation.
If you want to install Tablet animations you will need to...
Download it first. Do not install.
Click it and select "Resize"
Change the width to 480
Change the height to 800
Make sure the FPS is at 30
Hit ok and then install it as normal
Reboot to view it.
(If you get a black screen with no animation try changing the FPS to 20 if that doesn't work, then the animation most likely wont work, but feel free to try a different FPS)
Thanks for reading guys and I hope I helped some of you new guys and veterans bring more customization to your phone.
 :highfive:
This is awesome. Thank you for this. Can't wait to finally have custom boot animation back.

getting black screen is usually caused by bad desc.txt file, or the bootanimation.zip file being compressed..
if getting black screen, try remake the desc.txt file with notepad++, and/or try extract the bootanimation.zip file, then add the desc.txt file and the including part-folders into a new bootanimation.zip file with no compression...
just my 2cents
cheers
I built a custom boot animation and am having trouble with the systen or even rom toolbox pro registering it. I have gone through the entire process and i go to preview and all it shows is a black screen. I have a desc.txt file specifying the resolution (1280x720) the frame rate (30) what part is played and how many times. In the boot animation i also have a part0 file containing images and a part1 file containing the ending image. My desc.txt reads as follows: "1280 170 30p 1 0 part0p 0 0 part1." I cant figure out what is going wrong with it. Any ideas?

It possible that kernel can be overridden the bootanimation can be ported essential apps
1-Root explorer
2-Boot animation changer
3- boot animation not more than 60 mb and not more than 10 to 15 seconds
everything is possible if u have proper apps and know where to use them the kernel can be overriden i had did it and anybody can do it in android everything is possible

Kindly have a look at all the attachment u all will have a clear idea on how to create a custm boot animation
1- the first image is the Software to boot animation and after that u have to click on project first delete all files that are present in Project folder
2-now go back and click on boot animator as seen in the pics of bootanimator
3-now click on file and open video file
4- insert the Desired file from which u want to make a Desired Boot animation of and insert all the values according to the FIles attacthed in Boot animation 3 and do accordingly ensure the Duration of the video is than 15 seconds and ensure the file size is less than 60 mb or else it wont run
5-use of a .mp4 format video will help
6- USe the Attached Boot animation in the attachment as it would help
7- Refer to Boot animation 4 the Output would be present in the My project folder in .zip format u can also have a look on other folders as well as it display the frames and the preview boot animation
