I recently installed Touch of Blue 2.2 on my phone and have a couple of issues.
First, this was my first effort to root a phone. I followed the popular instructions over on Android Forum to unlock, s-off, downgrade to froyo, and root the phone. Also got a new radio -- 2.15.10.12.20. I tried to install cmlusco's Stock 2.3 (rooted) but got Status 7 erros and then installed Touch of Blue instead.
Now after installing Touch of Blue, the notifications under Quick Settings (pull-down) are all telling me I'm low on space, but I don't think I am. For my SD card (under settings->SD & phnoe storage) I have 23.01GB out of 29.71GB available. For internal storage, I have 6.3GB out of 6.45GB available. Sure doesn't seem I'm low on space to me. And I never had any Low on Space issues until I rooted and installed the new ROM.
Also, Location services. I have Google Location services turned on. I don't get that Location Services cross-hairs icon in the top notification area, and the HTC Clock widget can't find my location. I did turn on GPS and Verizon location services for a bit, and that didn't help. However, with just Google Location Services on, I just put The Weather Channel app and Google Maps on the phone and both of those apps could find my location. How do I get the cross-hairs icon and the nice clock widget to know my location?
One more thing - I am getting the notifications for the OTA 4.08.605.19. I don't think I can install that with Touch of Blue. If I somehow got the stock (rooted) 2.3 version to successfully install, would I be able to take the OTA update?
Thanks for any help. I apologize if I've asked dumb questions. As I said, I'm new to all of this...

The stock 4.08.605.15 rom has been fixed, and there is actually a newer version 4.08.605.19 out.
The low on space thing is just a visual glitch, and does NOT mean you are actually low on space.
The gps crosshair has been purpously removed from the rom, but all gps features still work. The clock widget should automaticly find your location. If not you can enter it manually.
No you can not accept the update while rooted, it will not work unless you are 100% stock. TOB will soon be updated to 4.08.605.19, and as i said a stock rooted 4.08.605.19 is already out.
Thanks cmlusco! You are very helpful.
I see TOB has been updated so I'll install that when I get a chance.
The darn clock still doesn't get my location. I can only manually enter the nearest city, which is no help. But I see this is a known issue for the DINC, not TOB. I have deleted and installed the widget several times, and it still doesn't work. Argh.

I've twice had to restore a Nandroid. BusyBox says there's an update. It's the same version as installed. Thinking update notification will go away if I update (same Version). Then my WiFi doesn't work. What's going on with BusyBox notifing about this nonexsistent/same version update? And it breaking WiFi?
Can you give me some information about the problem you are having? I manage the Busybox application on the market and I am trying to figure out why it is breaking WIFI for some...It is not happening for me so I am not sure what is causing the problem. Also, I had to do a few updates to the market today because of some bug fixes and nullpointer exceptions I introduced.
Hi Stericson
He is not alone ... Please have a look in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373661
Well I check the Android Market. BusyBox has an "update" available. I start the install & it's the same & current version installed already. If I backup & out of the update everythings ok. Except the update keeps showing up in the Android Market.
If I accept & install the "update", the update notification in the Android Market disappears. But my WiFi fails to connect. And after a couple minutes the WiFi stops trying to connect & turns itself off.
Btw I'm running CM7.1 signed.
It seems like ever since the market updated to google play i can't download any new apps on my phone (the force close and disappear as soon as i open them). Also, when i try to update existing apps they also force close and disappear but they end up coming back if i restart my phone. Also applications that i've had on my phone that i don't use any more I can't get rid of. I delete them and they come right back as well.
I've tried to restore my phone in tons of diffrent ways, regular factory reset, ruu, thought hboot, and htc sync. Factory reset and hboot just give me a red exclamation that i can't get around, the ruu someone told me to use didn't work i believe because the version of android i'm running and htc sync always tells me my phone isn't connected when clearly it is because i can open it up and explore it on my computer.
I'm at a loss, anyone have any ideas?
Time for a new phone?
Maybe consider rooting? I actually haven't seen a dinc with GB 2.3.4 that upgraded to google play, for some reason I've seen it stay with the market. My phone hasn't been in stock for a long time so I couldn't really say if that were true now but I know that google play was first released back in March and mid-april when I first rooted my Dinc, it was still on the android market. That being said, the dinc is far from trash if you are willing to root and flash a custom ROM to it.
I've seen this problem on ROMs when the version of gapps wasn't compatible with the ROM anymore because either the ROM was updated or gapps was updated and compatibility was lost. Usually in that situation I would recommend that person to do a fresh flash of their ROM with the newest google apps but in your case I would suggest flashing a custom ROM for the first time. if that is not an option you want to explore at this time, I believe that if you place this PB31IMG.zip on the root of your SD card (which must be formatted to FAT32) and then get into hboot it will reflash gb for you which might do the trick.

my DINC upgraded to google play when it was on stock. But really, stock sucks and has bugs. Upgrade to a real firmware listed here
Hello all, I have a rooted T989 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and cwm recovery installed. I did a nandroid backup onto my ext sd card. I then uninstalled the Google Maps update in application manager which reverted back to the factory version.
After that I found that the Maps and blue Navigation icons are missing. Couldn't find them anywhere. When I went to play store to see if I could download Maps again, it only has the open and update buttons, not the install button, which led me to believe Maps is still on the phone. I then went to the app list but still could not find those icons. Instead I found 3 green android figures in the app list. When I pressed on one, it opened Maps. When I pressed on the other, it opened Google Navigation.
Would anyone please guide me as to how to get those icons back.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Cool

Questions go in Q&A.
Did you try rebooting?
I did. Also pulled battery.
Hello,
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110, stock JB 4.1.2, TWRP+Root
Since now all worked fine. I have nandroid backup made and even after restoring location still not working.
Few days ago I tried to update to KitKat but didn't like it so I restored to JB again using TWRP as usual. Each time I restored backup all worked fine, now I have location issues. All set up properly, all wiped and nothing.
I don't really know if this is connected to upgrade or not, because I didn't use maps few weeks before update.
I also noticed that after update when i switch to Download Mode for Odin I have Knox Warranty Void not on the screen and downloading mode rus little different. Previously I had just three lines in upper left corner now there are 6 and each partitions is restored or cleared it gives additional lines saying what was cleared or restored. Previously It was just a blue bar running and nothing else appears. Now this!
I thought when I do nandroid restore it will revert everything back but I guess it is not.
Does Knox have anything to do with Location Issues or is it just information that I lost my warranty?
To be precise, any weather widget cannot locate, Google Maps (stock, not updated) have thic compass icon to go back to current location not working, and when i try to save some location settings it crashes and says "Maps app was forced to close".
Web browser finding location, but when opening Maps there should be that blue arrow in place where I am, but it isn't appear anymore. And no messages pop up until I tap compass icon.
All services seem to work bit no location available.
It works fine on my SGS2 running GB
This annoying notification has appeared in the past, but I have always been able to dismiss it. Now, nothing I have tried has worked:
Allowed automatic updates and clicked 'Update now'
Uninstall updates
Restore from Titanium Backup
Forced Stop various applications
My phone is on the Sprint network. The OS is version 5.0.1, the phone is rooted, but stock ROM. The current voicemail is version T.6.0.1.22.
Can you please help me either a) figure out how to get the latest version to install (note that I have disabled quite a few of the built in apps, but I do not believe this is the reason for the app's not updating) or b) how to make the notification go away.
Thank you.
