I wast under the impression that with froyo browser and complete flash it was possible to stream hulu on or phones. Is this true?

While Flash is capable of playing content Hulu blocks access by mobile devices. I believe this is because their licensing terms don't allow them to distribute content to anything but PC's.
There's another thread somewhere that details how to get Hulu on your Android device. You basically need a hacked version of Flash (I think) and then a small system tweak to make Hulu's servers think the request is coming from a desktop. I just saw it yesterday. . . .

I don't know about the hacked flash thing but simply changing the user agent doesn't work anymore. It does work for porn sites though fyi.

Is the hack listed here in the q n a board? Also, lol about the porn. Good to know XD.

the hulu app that launches the widget player in the browser works like a charm, but the FULL site still doesn't
christ almighty...
SEARCH
I think you just have to set your browser to desktop mode to view hulu. Type: about:debug In browser, then enter, then look for it in settings.

no. you'll need a hacked flash as well as the ua string change.
I must say, XDA has a beautiful forum search function(thank you xda!). If people just @#(*$# used it sometimes they would have the answer to their own questions 99.99999% of the time.
Just saying..........

No Flash Support for Android (Aug 15th)

Devices that don’t have the Flash Player provided by the manufacturer typically are uncertified, meaning the manufacturer has not completed the certification testing requirements. In many cases users of uncertified devices have been able to download the Flash Player from the Google Play Store, and in most cases it worked. However, with Android 4.1 this is no longer going to be the case, as we have not continued developing and testing Flash Player for this new version of Android and its available browser options. There will be no certified implementations of Flash Player for Android 4.1.
Beginning August 15th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed. Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August 15th.
The easiest way to ensure ongoing access to Flash Player on Android 4.0 or earlier devices is to use certified devices and ensure that the Flash Player is either pre-installed by the manufacturer or installed from Google Play Store before August 15th. If a device is upgraded from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1, the current version of Flash Player may exhibit unpredictable behavior, as it is not certified for use with Android 4.1. Future updates to Flash Player will not work. We recommend uninstalling Flash Player on devices which have been upgraded to Android 4.1.

Agreed. Sooner or later, Adobe Flash Player will break but honestly.. I never even touch Flash content on my phone anyways. So it's not a big deal for me but for some people, it will be.
I'm not concerned about flash support for my phone, but it's a bit of a kick in the balls for the upcoming nexus 7.

With the world slowly moving over to HTML5, which in my opinion is far better, it's no suprise that Google's slowly killing adobe flash player on Android devices
Finally. I'm sick and tired of people reviewing Android phones complaining about how the browser is slow.

.... too bad Adobe won't release source for Flash Player for Android for someone to randomly come and support Flash for Android... for those who are fully into using flash on their devices (especially tablets).

Flash is a crap plugin of another time, it was bound to die. Actually, I am impressed it lasts so long.
Either adobe opens up the source for the flash player, making it a so called standard, either it dies. The latter being more probable.

[APP] VLC for android

here is the link to the nightlies..
download from neon.... it installs nicely on our phone..
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/
just posting out the link since it doesnt show up in playstore
edit: streaming issues for dome s2 users.. vlan team asked to download neon version. neon version is present in the same link..
what does this app do?
I believe its a video player
Thanks for the find, OP! The tegra 2 version works for me too.
I tried compiling VLC from source a while back but it never worked for me. For those who don't know, VLC is an open source media player; I first became a fan for my various Debian systems because it included the libraries for playing most DVDs.

this app is famous for playing any kind of video and audio file. its a great player allowing you to have the best control over the aspect ratios, subtitles etc.
all of these are in the desktop version.. the link above is an attempt by them to bring all those features to android.. this is not even half of the features i told about. check out www.videolan.org

Will VLC stream media from a WHS to my phone? I have it mapped as a network drive on my home PC (windows 7). Anyone know how to set this up (or link to a guide)? I can't find anything straightforward on google searches. I'd like to be able to access home content anywhere. Thanks.
The way I stream from my home server is to use bubbleUPnP. Just open the app up and find your media server. Then when you select the movie, you have to pick an external player to actually play the movie. I have been using mx player, but VLC should work too.
Thanks man. I went with Plex. It's a paid app but super easy to use and seems to work great. I can access my server files as well with no problem and it works on mobile network as well as wifi.

Dolphin Browser HD 8.5.1 APK (Supports Flash)

Since Dolphin Browser HD recently dropped support for Flash on all Jelly Bean devices, including the Nexus 7, people have been needing the old version of Dolphin Browser HD for use with Flash. Well, here you are.
APK Download: http://dl.apktops.com/app/201206/Dolphin_Browser_HD_8.5.1.apk
If you need Flash Player, check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771463
Thanks
Thanks OP, very kind of you!
*Edit - Although Flash seems to work fine, when trying to go full screen it crashes out immediately. Currently Firefox does not have this problem.
This is great. I miss the pinch to zoom and the more functional address bar though. Not a poblem.
Anyway to tell the Play Store not to update it?

As of right now, no. I guess that's the price to pay to have Flash working on it though.
Maybe if everyone keeps giving it 1 star for disabling Flash, Dolphin will get the message and add it back.

Thanked
Did this yesterday and it's been smoooooth sailing so far. I'm new to Android and this made things a ton easier. :good:
I wonder if there is a way to change the apk or program to make it think your are running ICS so it still enables flash, besides editing the build.prop. From the Google Play update log it sounds like its merely disabling flash on JB while still allowing it to work on ICS/GB, so the flash supporting part of Dolphin is still there, its just being disabled.
I've been using XScope Browser.
Seems like Flash support is a little bit better on that one, but I haven't tested it extensively. Amazon Instant Video can be played full-screen, which is nice. I tried that with Dolphin, but it kept crashing.

maybe it's for non certified devices, or gives them the ability to restrict custom ROM makers that put in things they arent too happy about like DRM workarounds and such. just speculation.
