Hi,
Any suggestion for a best Kernel for the stock rom on WFS?
Any kernel that would provide me good performance and battery life while on data
Thank you!

for best battery consumption stock kernel is best i guess.
but if you want overclocking kernel,ext4 support cake v1.4 is best for u.

I would just like to verify, if I use a kernel that supports ext4 eventhough I am on a stock rom would it work? I am sorry I came from the Note and I found it more challenging to MOD this phone.
Thank you

yeah ofcourse.filesystem works by kernel so if your kernel supports ext4 then your rom will supports ext4.so you can use internal memory tweaks which needed ext4 file system:good:

Your original nitro rom is maybe not rooted...
And no kernel does not change one thing about root.

init.d support
Any chance of adding init.d support? I have a set of sick tweaks that really promotes battery life and performance.
However, I can only install part of it (manually).

init.d support is already in my rom, this is why i don't see important to make it native in the first version.
In next release it will be native.
Thank you very much

Which ROM? I installed Kernelpan1c Nitro HD ROM and my wife is liking it very much (it's her phone). But she wants me to hook it up with my init.d scripts as she knows how much battery life and performance is improved. However, when I tried to add the init.d forlder manually, the phone soft bricked. I guess I should post this in the ROMs thread, but I am using this kernel, and as far as I knew, in order for init.d scripts to work, your kernel has to be compatable.
I love this kernel but I love to use cm9.
I know the developer here wants to wait cm9 to rc stage in order to make the kernel for cm9, I would like to ask if you can change your mind cos cm9 original kernel is so lagging. Pls help!

Look for gingertiny kernel, or incredikernel. You can find both here http://www.incredikernel.com/?page_id=10, along with incredicontrol and app for tweaking kernel settings.
thanks for your answer! one last question which of the 2 is more stable gingertiny kernel or incredikernel? Both are installed recovery is true?

I only use gingertiny and havent tried incredikernel, but i hear others say there using it all the time. And yes they are flashed thru recovery.
Hi, I saw that there are some alternatives but none up to date comparison or advice.
I love having stock rom, but I want to overclock it a bit and to have init.d support and int2ext support.
So, for kernel:
- Dust
- Cake
- Sense_fire
which (and what version) is the most stable/the best?
Rom: should I keep stock rom or install a stock-like rom? As for the kernel... Which is the most stable?
Basically I hope to have a rock-solid-like-stock device with a rom that is stock-like and has init.d support and a kernel that supports oc, ext4 (and maybe swap). Is too much to ask?
Last question: to swap or not to swap, that is the question... I red a lot about swap but there are very different opinions and I'm a bit confused. What do you advise?
Thank you very much!

Well, I already saw that and I'm considering your work. But I ask to you (I think you are using your own kernel and rom) is it rock-solid? What does it have better than other roms or kernels (like dust or cake)?
I know that everyone should try things and there are different opinions and so on... But unfortunatly I have to "tweak" a phone that I can't have in my hands for too much time and too much times to try different roms and kernels, and for a rom-change I should also backup and restore everything, because is the primary phone of a friend. So I'm searching about opinions of users that have tried different things to try to find the better one at the first shot

oh okay..yeah i am using my sense_fire_v1 kernel because i dont like OC.and int2ext4+ with 500 mb ext4 and 500 mb swap and my phone is faster than it was on stock kernel.
dust and cake are good but they are old and also drain toomuch battery so i dont use them instead i made new kernels.
edit : Questions should be in Q & A forum.
as you are asking for opinions it's okay but remove that question sign.

Why do you want to OC?? I think that you see zero efect. Only battery drain and bigger heating.
Better way is undervolting less heating, better battery life
Anypne can suggest me good ROM and kernel for battery life?
I dont need features, just battery life..
Thanks before

if you debloated and make knox-free, stock rom will have good battery life, better camera, and samsung framework features (things you lost in custom rom)
if you want to try a custom rom, i recommend you try Mokee (stable) with last Fak Kernel, mokee has an amazing saving power feature and is the more stable rom (in my opinion), with fak kernel with right settings and undervolt (see in fak thread, or pm me) you will get the best battery life, my goals are the same as yours (battery life), and i already try almost every rom here (right now iam trying LiquidSmooth, but i did not like it...will try next the S5 proyect, and wait for official 4.4.4 to test, but until now, mokee is my prefered rom
Dont know if last fak kernel is working with mokee, when a try it some time ago it give me FC, but i think last version works, cause iam using it with liquismooth right now, but even with the stock mokee kernel, it has amazing battery life.

I'am using last version, get some random reboots (i think its because of fak kernel and undervolt...) i miss some launcher options like mokee have (i know i can change launcher...) i found the rom a little confusing, the way the settings are in config options, and there are too much thinks i dont use and dont like like (side app bar, pie control...etc) .
The rom is good, its just my PERSONAL taste, i like it clean, iam a big fan of mokee, and stock rom, just go to a custom rom for 4.4.4 and better battery like i like i say, just waiting for official 4.4.4 - the quality of camera we loss in custom rom its a big point for me to go back when its released
I will stick with stock ROM first with custom kernel..

Hi guys, first of all let me apologize up front for posting this question without knowing whether it has been answered billion times before. It's my first Samsung phone after having Motorola for a long time and the transition to the new apps and vocabulary is not that straightforward.
I've got an I-9190 running 4.2.2 from a carrier and they still haven't upgraded to 4.4. But when I entered to the website above, there's a 4.4.2 firmware for my country and my device. The upgrade seems rather easy, but I'm not sure whether it will run or not. I would really like to upgrade to 4.4.2 and I'm quite confident I'd be able to do it using Odin, but my question is if that firmware could run on my device. Any tips are welcome.
Thanks!
