Hi Mitch....I've been through my download history on play store...and the only thing I can attribute it to is (maybe) one of the half dozen or so themes that I've downloaded, tried and then deleted.....other than that, does Nova launcher have any effect....it's currently frozen in favour of trebuchet
CM9...I don't HAVE to.....I just.....can..
wait, our phone has auto brightness?!?

Lol....the settings there, though it doesn't seem to do much.....but while it's enabled, I can't slide across the top of the screen to manually adjust brightness....and I can't switch auto off.......

I've posted this on another thread, but will repeat here for others...
Try installing Widgetsoid (gratis), create a widget containing 'brightness' toggle, and tap on that toggle until you're no longer set to auto-brightness.

Okay, I've just reconfigured my Power Widgets... and whaddaya know, there's a widget for Brightness... and one of the options is... Auto! Thus, you don't need to install Widgetsoid; just add a Brightness power widget, add the 'Auto' brightness + some other manual values, then cycle.

Samsung Galaxy W hasn't got Light Sensor hardware. So you can't set up auto brightness.

Thanks for your response....
The fact is that *somehow* auto brightness was enabled on my phone, so using the 'swipe across the top of the screen' method to adjust brightness was disabled. Having followed the advice given by another XDA member, I downloaded 'set brightness' from the play store and disabled AUTO. Now everything works as I want.....
Thanks all for your help.....

Did you check under Settings > Display > Notification Panel ? You should have a checkbox there saying 'Brightness Adjustement'.
Even if I am on Auto Brightness or not, when I open a browser, stock,Chrome,Opera etc. the brightness is lowering, and when I exist gets back to normal.
Why is that?

Which firmware are you in ? B111 and earlier firmwares had a light bug. Fixed in versions after that.
I'm on the latest 125

Im on B125 too. I have no such problems.
Weird, maybe I'll try a hard reset.

Fixed it. It was theme related. Uninstalled it and now it's all good.

That issue is not only related with theme. Go to Setting > Display > and untick Smart Backlight. That Function will change the backlight of display through content analysis.

I have had this tab for a few days now and for the life of me cannot find the settings for the vibration. Thought maybe the unit is not equipped with the motor, but TWRP vibrates. Play store has vibration apps that work. There has to be something in the settings that sets up the vibes. Thanks

tablets not meant for vibrate only for few cases

It's under sound settings,
Settings > Device > Sound > Vibrate intensity
I'm on a dutch version so I hope the translations is good enough

I'm on the US version 8.4. I don't have a vibrate intensity setting in this location.
Like the OP, I was looking for this setting but can't find it anywhere.

Translation was perfect. I can confirm the settings are the same in the US version.

Appears to be another difference between tablet models.
I have the US version SM-320 and no vibration intensity setting in this location.
Mine doesn't have it either, just on off. UK model.
I believe there's a difference in settings between the different screen size models.
Since this forum section is for all of the tab pro line, people might be talking about different models.
I don't see a vibration intensity slider on 8.4 (SMT-320)
Indeed same as RiverCity.45 I'm on a 10.1
It's strange why would they make a difference about that... basically they are both the same Tab PRO just different screen size...
Way to go samsung xD
