No doubt there are many threads on here asking for "The Best ROM" or "the ROM for gaming", etc. Since unlocking my Xperia Play R800AT, I've flashed a few ROMs ranging from CM7 to CM10, and as of the latest the Pacman Jellybean ROM. None were particularly excellent, and as I've heard before gaming on the Xperia Play is best suited to Gingerbread.
Are there any other claims that say otherwise? I've been stuck on Gingerbread so long that I specifically bought this phone so I could have a newer Android OS, but the gaming just isn't there as far as speed goes. Is there maybe an ICS ROM that gives Gingerbread a run for its money in gaming? I'm just looking for a solid ROM that works well.
Thanks!
Face it dude there is no rom for gaming above gingerbread. Get over it.

I'm looking for an ICS ROM which doesn't mess with my battery because of wifi drivers, half of my ram, can't record video and can't run GTA3 for more than eight seconds (...*cough*CM9*cough*...)
I'm looking for something that can play Shadowgun with Xperia controls, AOSP themed, runs fast, deodexed, isn't a ram or battery hog, and is fast.
Can't choose between Darkforest ICS, ICS++ and many others so I'm asking, what would be the best ROM for gaming and speed?

Lol me too. Im in DarkForest now, but will try ICS++ later this day. Personally i don't have a problem with Darkforest as my problem is in ICS Beta itself that can see in every ICS based ROM, atleast someone said that to me.
But ICS++ looks promising as i really dig the AOSP look and everything.

But does Darkforest play HD games with Xperia controls as expected? Also, what is this *problem* you are talking about?

Wait for official ICS
All the current ICS roms have issues in one way or another and don't work as well as stock gingerbread.

can someone sum up why certain games don't work plz?
Hey all!
Just curious, what are the current best ICS roms? Im currently on stock GINGERBREAD and ready to take the jump to ICS. I always thought CM9 was the best, but I've heard its still a little unstable and slow/laggy. What are my other options??
Thank you~

combined with Turbo Kernel, it give great experience

hello :cyclops:
i have the arc s lt18i.
in the beginning i flash the official sony ics release and i compare it to the samsung galaxy s1 - i9000 with custom rom (run ics).
the result is that the galaxy s1 much faster and smoother then the arc s. all the menus are much faster and the youtube app much much smoother. - the arc s is laggy and dont smooth in youtube app when i move from comments section to "other videos" section, when i scrolling in the "comment" section or "other videios" section.
i think thatthe official rom is the problem so i flashed ics jj hybrid rom.
now the phone is fast but not like the samsung galaxy s1 :crying:
the ypuyube app is very lag when i play a clip and navigate in the "comments" section, which in galaxy s1 is smooth!
as much as i know the arc s have a 1.4ghz and better specs
so what is the problem? is the samsung galaxy s1 is really better then the arc s?
thanks! :good:
Did you flash any custom kernel ? Its pretty fast for me ..

a custom kernel really Influencing the speed?
when you scrolling in the the comments of a music video on youtube the scroll is not smooth? (while the music video is playing)
p.s can ypu give me a good kernel that support jj hybrid rom?
thanks man

ArcKnight Kernel
I tried the arcknight kernel but my phone was even slower and had problems with its signal, now I'm using the stock kernel with cwm and xperia ice bean ROM.

Usually the purpose of a kernel is to over/under clock so go ahead and try doing that

hmm.. so the galaxy s1 with the 1ghz is better then the arc s with 1.4ghz?
because i did not overclocked both of them and the galaxy s1 is much faster.
do you guys have the same lags in the youtube with the scrolling? (while the video playing)
thank you guys for your comment!
Dont Forget
Dont forget that your galaxy S is using a custom rom. Considering if it were on a stock ROM performance would be better on the arc S considering that it is on 4.0.4

what is the matter?
ok but i dont see differences at all in the arc s or the galaxy s1.. i mean the ics look and everything is exactly like the arc s jj hybrid ics.
everything is the same!!! like they both based on ics!!!
but the old galaxy s1 wins for sure

I'm not really sure what your getting at and also the way of using your device could matter. Considering benchmarks the arc S would win for sure whereas in day to day use like you say the galaxy s could be better

Same problem with my Xperia Arc (ICS) ..
I think Sony mess up with ICS firmware. The phone was great and game friendly with GB, with official ICS it's laggy and don't play many games. I'm with a locked bl based on the 431 firmware. I've tried some roms and finally stick with pureness 10 V6 supercharged. Games won't play, but the phone is more reponsive, with less launcher restart. But overall the phone is slower than my old Desire with CM7

Unlock your bootloader , flash a custom kernel , flash a custom ROM ... Then you will see how fast it can perform...
BTW the galaxy s is probably on a custom kernel which is overclocked , running a custom supercharged ROM...

I don't want to unlocked bootloader and lost warranty and drm right And i don't think that putting a custom kernel made such a difference. But why Sony can't simply release a good rom is beyond my understanding. Why with GB i have no problem to play Angry birds and Asphalt 6 and when i upgrade to ICS, i must sometime reboot to play Angry bird because of touchscreen problem and can't play Asphalt 6 because of lack of usable memory. Maybe it's Google fault too, with ICS to big for 2011 smartphone, or bad Sony rom, but the result is here, unhappy customer, who are think twice before buying a sony phone in the future

Yep ! Back to the future is probably the best solution, maybe i'm asking too much to Sony to hope a ICS as good as a GB They now concentrate on lauching too many new phones
Can anyone give me a suggestion for best SE ARC S rom. WIthout lag,freezes...I have unlocked bootloader,VDS KERNEL,BB 77.THANKS
To me CM10 is the best... You should try it out

Using cm10 144 with no bugs but i believe the best one for arcs is stock 2.3.4 62 its the best !
JJ Hybrid 3.3 (aosp) or Acronium v5!
You'd think someone might have thought to ask this question before.

I tried many roms and I end up like MIUIv4 based CM10 JB 4.1.2 the most. It's run smooth and has cool features. :good:
unfortunetly even though FXP based roms (CM, AOKP, some MIUIs) are overally smooth and have cool features, they are not able to utilize hardware of my phone - talking about 720p/30fps video recording, eventually HDMI...
best rom for anyone who wants these functions is stock based rom - in my opinion, they are all the same (their "developers" using little by little all same tweeks), so choice is depend on subjective preferences (used skins, biuld-in apps).
in my experience, best rom of these will be one most often updated
Best ICS rom is Xperia Pureness Build13.
Best JB rom I cannot say yet, still experimenting.

You can flash ICS or JB but be prepared to do extra "effort" to get phone service working on your r800x. There isn't really any best ICS or JB rom its all about user preferences. Use each one and stick with what you like. Be warned though when you install any ICS or JB be prepared to lose gamepad or touchpads or perhaps both. There is a gamepad and touchpad fix for ICS and JB but it doesn't work with most of the Xperia play optimized games out in the market.
ICS:
NXT ICS XPlay
JB:
SlimBean
or
CM 10
for the r800x ics aokp was good for gaming... that is if you remove some stuff... but I haven't tried any jb roms yet.
Sent from my R800x
Slim bean was OK to use it did lag as most ics or jb roms do your best bet? Stay in gingerbread land games work the best on it
unlocked using miui Australia
slim bean does have some lag but if you OC up to 1.2GHz with intellademand2 as the governer and noop as the I/O scheduler it runs with no lag at all...
