Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this but today I was just playing a game on phone when it just crashed,
I thought no big deal I'll just reboot so went to reboot, however it just went into a bootloop and would not reboot. Then I thought ok CWR but I could not boot into this. I then decided to use adb mode to flash back to stock. However in this process adb froze and would not respond anymore and kind of had a blue tearing around everything on the screen. I ended up having to pull the battery.
Now however the phone won't respond at all, Won't turn on, won't go into download mode or anything. I can get my computer and laptop to regonize it when I plug it on with no battery but just says searching for driver for OMAP 4440 then fails. I'm pretty sure I have bricked it and am quite sad. Just looking for confirmation.
Its still alive, I'm pretty sure someone with a bit more knowledge will stop by and help you, but it appears to just be a soft brick.

Just to possibly give you some hoe look into Odin. When I had my fascinate this was the way to fix things. Being made by Samsung I'm sure it'll be similar. Do some research into that. Just got my nexus two days ago so I'm still fresh

Not connected to PC - no ADB, no ODIN. Plus, his phone failed while playing game (under heavy load) which gives me a reason to think it's a hardware fault. I would say last chance is to try USB Jig.
If you can get to the bootloader, you should be able to flash a stock Google image

It's a hard brick, mate...
How to fix?:
take the back cover off your phone!
Remove battery, then plug in via USB (computer)
Leave for 3 hours!!! (With battery still unplugged) This should, in a way, "reset" your phone.
Once the three hours are over, plug in battery, and unplug USB.
Press PWR+VOL Down
Wait untill hpone boots into Odin mode then flashstock firmware from Samsung website.I
If this doesn't work, then I'd send it to Mobile Tech Videos, they kann unbrick it via JTAG...
Let me know if it worked, pleasse

He didn't mean playing, as in games. He meant playing around with his phone, root etc....
Thanks for the advice guys, gives me a small amount of hope. I will try leaving it plugged into my computer for 3 hours + and see what happens. Will post back with results.
Otherwise I may try get my hands on a jig. Would it be the same one from the Galaxy SII?
It worked? I'll explain you what happened to me:
I was playing for 2 hours on the game cartoon wars. After that, the phone was a little hot, I went to the desktop and locked the phone. 20 minutes later, I try to unlock the phone and I see the Google logo, and nothing responds. I pulled out the battery several times, tried to enter recovery, fastboot, normal boot. Always freezes. Stock 100%, the mobile has one week.... I think I will have to send it to the SAT....
I have my old HTC magic awaiting me, I gave my galaxy S to my sister...
Brick is such a misused word...
hmm
well if your running with verizon, which i doubt many of you are (prob using the GSM Gnex) you could just as easily bring it to them, lie, and theyll replace your phone. had a droid X, cracked the screen, told verizon it had a hardware fault, and they replaced it with no questions. verizon employees are pretty stupid

You are a horrible person and one of the reasons why decent, hardworking people can't have nice things.
So none of the methods suggested have work so looks like I'm going to have to get a Jig and hope that will do the trick otherwise I'm doomed I think.
when you guys say jig do you mean using resistors on the micro usb port to boot like with the old captivate? i still have the resistors mirco usb plug for that phone, it saved me from a hard brick a few times.

Yup.
So more than a week ago my phone went into "Downloading Mode" and I had no clue what it was in the first place. I took my battery off and put it back and still didn't work.
After that my phone only went to Downloading or fastboot and so I researched more about all these rooting and unlocking stuff. I downloaded Gnex toolkit because I wanted to go back to stock 4.0.2 again and I did what the program told me (Unlocked my bootloader and downloaded the GSM 4.0.2 factory image and set up fastboot.exe). My phone was recognized by GNEx toolkit and fastboot and I put yes to bring back to stock 4.0.2 but half way through the process it gave me an error (******(Unknown error)) and my phone went off and now it WON'T GO to fastboot or downloading mode. The phone doesn't start and if it did it goes it's stuck on the google but it doesn't show up; it shows up as a messed up green pixeled image.
I called Samsung USA and they said we cannot help you and I got really pissed while talking to them because they cannot help and they said they don't know who could.....then the guy offered to give me Samsung China number which I refused and hung up.
So how to get my phone back from the dead. The computer doesn't recognize it and if it turns on to this green google messed up image it doesn't do anything, it just goes off and comes back on the same screen.
Please help guys. this $680 phone is now a piece of scrap
You're right, Samsung USA is in no way obligated to help you, considering they don't sell the phone here (this should be well known when you buy a "gray market" device). You can't get mad at them about that. Where did you buy it from?
If it sometimes boots you have a chance. Someone more knowledgable than me will be able to give you specifics I'm sure. It may require some kind of USB jig to get it into fastboot mode though.
I bought it from back home Abu Dhabi, UAE but it was imported. The phone is probably made in SK.

So holding power and the down volume button doesnt bring to you the Download screen?
No. I cannot access DM or fastboot.
upon plugging in your phone via USB on the computer, does it recognize your device? (does it make the USB noise)
Uh oh. Pixelated droid = fried processor. It needs to be replaced.
I was just wrestling with one of these today - couldn't bring it back to life no matter what I did.

I am not sure about that. I was only flashing to stock, but when I plug it to the computer first the battery icon on the screen is green but then it goes back to a normal looking icon and charges.
Tried taking it to a phone shop? See if they can come up with any ideas. Otherwise maybe insure it and make a claim possibly depending on terms and conditions

Try holding down both the Volume Keys while putting in the battery and connecting the USB (which should already be connected to the computer). If that doesn't work, try it again with holding the power button. This was one of the solutions that brought back my Samsung Vibrant from the dead a couple of times. USB Jigs are an option as well, and any Samsung Galaxy S one should work. You can even make one yourself.
He said I can have it if I fix it, I have no idea what he has done to it.
It wont boot up at all. Just a constant black screen. I've installed some samsung USB drivers. And when I plug it in under my devices and printers there are 3 things listed when ever I unplug it they all disapear.
under unspecified it lists "SAMSUNG CDMA Technologys" "Samsung Mobile Modem" and "SAMSUNG Mobile Modem Diagnostic Serial Port (WDM) (COM4)"
So the computer does seem to recognize it when im plugging it in. but the phone does seem really dead.
What should the next steps be that I should take, any tips?
1. Take out battery. And put in after 10sec
2. Power on by holding volume DOWN, home and power all at the same time.
3. Once in download menu, press volume up to continue.
4. Flash any firmware using Odin. I believe the gio version is 4.4.2

I have tried this like 50 times taking the battery in and out to, but the phone will not power on at all
Sounds like a hard brick...
...my guess is that something went wrong when flashing - he might have tried to flash something with Rom Manager for example, all Gio owners must avoid doing that since it crashes the phone.
My phone is turned in to the repairman for the above reason wit the exact same symtoms as yours, i'll get a cost proposal (sorry for poor wording, i'm not proposing to you ) any day now. Hopefully it'll be cheaper than buying a new Gio...

As i've said, the phone was given to me, no warranty or anything, just wanted to see if I could fix it, don't really want to have to pay for someone to do it
Usb jigs may work, but I had this tooo, a long time ago when I flashed a rom...
Put it on the charger, and you"ll feel the battery gets warm, but dont see anything...
It may be that the battery was almost empty and thus the phone shut off...
Mine was gone for 2 weeks, and I nearly throwed it away...
But then I charged it, maybe it could help, and tried gettin into download mode while on the wall charging, and it worked!!!
My phone was alive after 2 weeks of beiing dead, but I was too noobish at that time to know what excactly I did..
But I did had the same when connecting to pc, it says its a modem

Hi guys,
Since yesterday my Gnex doesn't get power from the adapter anymore when it's turned on. Only if I shut it down, it will get power.
Also when I connect it to the computer, it says: "device is not recognized".

i don't know, your phone is dying?
those of us who have never experienced that particular behaviour, we need something more.
please provide more information; ac/usb charging or both? other charger/cable? running stock, stock+custom kernel, custom rom? list the apps you have installed. fastcharge y/n? if you turn it on after it begins to charge, does it keep charging? have you tried another battery? how do the pins/usb port on the device look: dirty, bent, any kind of damage?
Before thiis happened, I didnt change much things at my nexus. I use AndroidHD rom for quite a while now, and didnt install any new apps.
I tried several chargers but nothing is working. Only of its off, but even then it says its charging but thats not the case all the time.

reflash stock images if you want, relock bootloader, turn it in for warranty, if you checked usb port state.

I've looked at the post, re-locked the bootloader --> that worked.
Now I want to download the ODIN.tar files for de Odin Mobile app, but I can only find the .tar files voor Verizon models.. I however have a GSM model from a Dutch carrier.
Do you have a link for ODIN.tar file(s) for the GSM version of the GNex?

You're not on your own. I'm having the exact same problem with my Galaxy Nexus. since a couple of days.
Only way I can charge it is by turning the device off. Then while its rebooting plugging it in.
I also have the 3 dot connect docking station. Same problem with that way of charging... So I know it is not the USB thats faulty.
My device is rooted. with superuser permission. no special rom. only a different launcher,
never had any problems with it. and I did not change anything in my phone for 2 weeks.
I have no clue how to relock my bootloader without USB.
Casparovic i have a GSM model too. also from a Dutch carrier Vodafone.
Ill try Jubakuba his guide.
Well, I relocked the bootloader (without usb), but it's still not charging when turned on.
I can't figure out what it is. Also i can't send it to the carrier because it's rooted.
Can someone tell me how to go further?
I have the same issues, I just bought 3 spare batteries, and only 2 of them work on my Nexus. So basically I switch between the original battery and the extra battery I bought and charge them with wireless chargers. Very inconvenient, I hate samsungs absolute garbage quality, never again.... 6 years of a loyal HTC customer, guess this is what I get lol

Having the exact same problem. It won't charge when connected to the AC adapter as well as through USB. Computer doesn't always recognize it either.
It does charge however with my rocketfish car adapter and a BlackBerry ac adapter.
Not sure if this could related to the OS, currently running Cm10 v1.7. Or is it something else?
Sent from Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Devices:

Asus Transformer tf101
I have had the same problem running Jellybro and AOKP.
Only way to fix it for me was to go back to stock and wipe everything on the internal storage. Then unlock, root etc.. all the way back to whatever nightly I was running and put all my apps and data back on.
This has happened 3 times now in the past 2 months. I really panicked the first time!!
Also, sometimes I have had an issue with it showing that it was charging when nothing was plugged in! Same method to fix... oh well, the price for being a rom flash addict...
Mine randomly started working again. I've been on cm10 nightlies since they started, never changed the kernel. I also have 2 Hyperion 3800mah batteries and the stick battery. Everything charges like normal now.

Did you flash any custom ROM on your phone by any chance?
What method did you use to root?
When you press the power button does the screen at least display the Samsung logo?
Can you get in to recovery/download mode via button combos?
Next time, please use the thread search bar, as the issue you have is very similar to those mentioned in other threads before. There may be several solutions to your problem.

I used this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514434
Nothing diplay when I press any boutons
And I can't get into recovery/download vio bouton combos
It's maybe hard brick.... What I exactly did is, root the phone, everything was working fine. Then I tried to install a jb rom from the galaxy s2 forum (not t-mobile galaxy 2 forum). I tried a couple of them but it could not complete the instalation. So then I did a wipe data/factory reset from the recovery and it just went blank and since then, can't do anything!
The battery was also very low, so at first I thought it was because of that, but it's been recharging over night and I still nothing.
Although when plugged into the computer, it tries to connect the driver but fails because the phone's not turned on

I have the same Koodo phone from you. In regards to returning your phone... you would have to check the return policy of the store. In the event you are able to return it, there is a possibility that they may not fix it for you. Reason being is that you have 'flashed' something on to your phone which may have changed the 'flash counter', which in that case if a technician were to see that they would not do anything as it has void your warranty.
Hopefully, you will be able to do an in-store-exchange if everything goes... just make sure to provide a legitimate excuse.
It doesn't hurt to try using a USB Jig, there is a great chance of it working. Doing so you will be able to get in to 'download mode' and this time flash the proper, I recommend stock Koodo ROM to your phone.
For future note, please, be extra-careful when doing anything that involves flashing custom ROMs/files to your phone. By making a mistake (which you have currently done) you are the one at fault here. Especially knowing that it's your first time doing so on with this particular phone.
Good luck!
