Xperia ION on Pioneer AppRadio 2 + AR Liberator  - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Just wanted to let everyone know that Sony Xperia ION on stock Roger's ROM 4.0.4 works 100% with Pioneer AppRadio 2(SPH-DA100). I bought AR Liberator and it also works perfectly. Will shoot a short video and pics soon.

Just got my new AppRadio 3 and it does work! Needed to buy the Pioneer cable set seperately to get both Micro USB and HDMI outputs to the stereo. I don't know if it's worth spending 35 bucks for one app though

Tv out

Is their any way of tv out?
I m think of selling my x10(if anyone buys it) and getting arc, neo, play
so is their tv out by something like micro usb to hdmi?
Ooh and 2.3.4 brings 720p?
We are aware that this feature is something which users have queries in regards to and why this is not supported by the Xperia Play.
The reason that HDMI capabilities were not featured in the handset hardware upon release are due to the fact that the handset initially did not have the ability to record videos in HD unlike other Xperia handsets such as the Arc and Neo which did have this ability. As the handset was unable to record in a HD format, it was deciding to not include a HDMI output. The handset however will soon receive an update to the Android 2.3.4 operating system and will then be able to record in HD. This was not possible upon release and so HDMI was not included.
We can also advise that the handset doesn't have the hardware capacities to use a USB to HDMI cable which would allow HDMI output via your charging port. This hardware is called Mobile High Definition Link which is sadly not supported by the Xperia Play and cannot be changed via a Software update.
We would like to apologise that we are unable to assist further in regards to your query. However, we will pass your feedback onto the relevant department.

Several users (including me) have been discussing TV out here:

In short, there is currently not a good way and the Xperia Play does not have the hardware capability to do mini-HDMI/micro-USB to HDMI.
There are development possibilities however:
+Video out via headphone jack using stereo to RCA (three color-red/white/yellow) cable, similar to how some nokia phons and digital cameras/camcorders do
+Wireless streaming of the display to a receiving unit (PS3/computer/cable box/Smart TV)
+Standard micro-usb to usb to hdmi adapter (reference the Nexus One usb host mode hack)

[Q] Monster ControlTalk cable & Xperia Arc compatibility?

Hi
I Own a Headset the Beats By Dr. Dre Solo HD and they come with a monster controltalk cable and I was wondering if this cable will be supported in my device an Xperia Arc as all the research that I've done seams that there is no way that this cable can be supported on the device due to a hardware incompatibility as the Xperia Arc has an OMTP Audio jack and the needed for this cable to work is the CTIA.
Can anyone confirm that this is correct? or if anyone got this cable to work (at least to answer and end calls) to let me know how to have it work on my phone.
My phone is running the stock firmware but it is rooted and the booloader is open.
P.S: I found this thread IDK if this was ever solved (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764469)

[Q] How do I know if my headphones will work with my Play?

I need to replace my Xperia Play headphones and I have been looking online. How do I know if they will work with my Play?
I am looking at these 3 right now. But I am open to any suggestions as long as it is around 45$ with shipping to Canada.
Sony MDR-EX210B
Sony MDR-EX77S
Altec Lansing MZX406
My ideal solution would be something that works with Play and any other future device I own. What headset would you guys recommend and also are there any cheap adaptors if I end up wanting something that wont work with the play.
Also does the Sony Livesound Hifi headset works with other non-sony devices.
Thanks so much to anyone that helps. I want to make an order soon so it ships asap so please help

As of Sony ones, see the compatibility list on their webpage.
As of any other, they most surely won't work as far as they have a buit-in mic.
Now, if you get a headset (not headphone) compatible with your Play, they will only work on SonyEricsson phones, some Nokia and some Samsung before the Galaxy S.
You can buy an adapter, but... well, see this and this.
Any headphones made for the iPhone (including controls, a mic) like the Altec ones won't work. The Sony ones should be fine.

[Q] Does anyone have any experience with CyanogenMod, ARLiberator and the AppRadio 2?

I bought a Pioneer AppRadio 2 from Amazon here.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006Y44PCU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also bought the Android connection kit here.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CLFM3ZW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As well as the adapter to (hopefully) get the connection kit to work with my Note 2.

Basically, the Pioneer AppRadio 2 utilizes a phones MHL HDMI connection to display the Pioneer AppRadio Android app and the pre approved apps it offers. Someone else reverse engineered it and released ARLiberator which will mirror the phones display to the radio via HDMI as well as let you control the phone via the radio's touch screen.
I heard, however, that the HDMI drivers most phones used were proprietary and therefor not supported by CyanogenMod.
Does anyone know anything about this? The posts claiming this were a couple of years old so that may have changed by now.
Hello?

How is OTG compatibility neutered by Motorola? Software or hardware?

I have a T-mobile Z2 Force that is rooted but running the stock rom. I decided to dig out an adjustable PS3 clip I originally printed for my Stylo 3. Hooked everything up with no luck and then found through some reading out that in an effort to force mod sales, you can't run an otg gamepad on the Z2.
So did moto do this with hardware or software? The phone is rooted but on the stock rom. If it's done in software, is there another rom I could flash that allow OTG gamepad support?
I've had this phone forever, but just now decided to try the PS3 controller so I'm a bit late to the party.
That sounds a lot like hearsay and guesses. There is otg functionality on the z2 force T-Mobile variant that I have. The question you want to ask is if the support for that particular attachment supported. It might not be. Support for attachments have to be baked in or added via an app. That's why things like OTG TV tuners require a specific app. If that PS3 controller is like a generic keyboard then it would work. Generic USB keyboards and gamepads work over OTG. However, if it has other features that require drivers then it won't work without them
I know it's a bit tinfoil-hattish, but every phone starting with my S4 on through Note 4, LG G4, S7 Edge, Stylo 3 and my wife's current S9 works with the PS3 controller. We also have a garbage-tier Samsung J-something that came with one of our lines that has lived most of its life in a drawer as a back up phone and it also works via otg. I never tried it with my Droid Razr or Eris, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had worked with it also.
Then, there's my Stadia controller. With Chromium installed running in desktop mode, it works on my wife's S9. Oh, and get this. The only out-of-service phone I've kept is the Note 4 and it's normally living its golden years streaming through a stereo system in the garage. It came out in October of 2014. I installed Chromium, plugged in the Stadia controller (released fall 2019) and while it's too laggy to be playable, all the inputs work.
So the one phone that will allow USB sticks, hdds, mice and other various devices via otg, but none of the controllers I've tried (PS3, 360, Stadia) just happens to be the one with a gamepad attachment offered by the manufacturer.
Not going to sound like a shill but here's some information about something similar that was discussed in the moto forums. That works be the best place to get information about which controllers might work. Not sure if there Z2 will get the update as it is EOL.
