I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus running Xylon 18 and Franco 361. What I've noticed lately is that my phone will get really hot during a charge cycle (especially when I'm on YouTube) and then the charging just stops. Battery bar animation stops but my battery icon keeps spinning ad though it were charging but the level keeps dropping. According to other views such as quick settings it is charging however.
Trickster Mod reports that my battery is overheating and I found that a restart let's me charge my phone again.
What is a solution for my problem?

Wipe the phone completely, start from scratch with a new ROM.

Basically what the title says?
I've burned 10 percent every 30 minutes when using tapatalk straight? Does it burn more battery than a web Os or another mobile site?
Thanks in advance
Its a pretty light application. The battery drain comes from your screen being on and phone actively pulling data.

So would you say that mobile web kills more battery than tapatalk?

Maybe slightly because its doing full page loads and tapatalk is just loading some background data to the same view. Its gonna probably be about the same though. Like I said, its not the app you're using, it's the fact that the screen on and its using data that drains the most battery.
tapatalk is a battery saver app. when i used browser, the baterry was dropping very fast. tapatalk use less energy than browser
If you're using any app that uses the radio and you have a weak signal, your battery will drain fast. Try to find a sweet spot where reception is good and your battery will last longer. And lowering screen brightness helps, as mentioned.
Tapatalk was the reason for drain for me about a week ago.
I had my phone on charge overnight. Pulled it out and went to work and about 30 minutes later it was at 94% and I had done nothing. Turned out Tapatalk drained my battery for whatever reason. It has only done that once though so I don't know what happened. Has not done it again since. Usually Tapatalk takes like 2% of my battery for my use.

Tapatalk is a battery drainer in my case, too (SGS2). What's more problematic, once you've launch Tapatalk and use it to visit a forum, only killing it with a task manager would stop it from consuming memory. For whatever reason, Tapatalk is constantly consuming CPU cycles, even when it's in background. The developers are aware of this issue, but so far no fix.
take off tapatalk notifications and enable the dark theme.

It would still keep running in background and continue consume battery unless I shoot its process.

So earlier today I had an issue where when I would dial a number my phone wouldn't actually dial, it just sat there. So I restarted it and then realized it was very hot, so I opened setcpu and it's min was 1056 which it has been 384 so I changed it back and it immediately cooled off. But then my battery had drained 50% so I put it on the charger and now it won't charge. It has the charging symbol but it doesn't go up. So I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache, dalvik and fixed permissions and it's still doing it. I'm on li8 stock rooted.

How long have you left it charging? Leave it for a few minutes.
Try charging it with your phone off.
Can you mount your phone to your computer? If you can, this can eliminate a faulty port.
If it is showing the charging symbol it is charging.

Yeah normally that is true except this time. It's been on the charger for 15mins and has lost 1% battery while ON the charger. I use this charger every day too.

Uninstall setcpu? What processes are active? Try a different charger? Turn the phone completely off like someone mentioned.
I'd blame an app. They're not tested with leaks so it's silly to expect them to be perfect.

I've been running this for over a week with no issue and no new apps installed. Found out that "media" with the "downloads app" icon is running real high in system usage even after a fresh reboot its like 40-50% of usage.

I don't see that running on mine... screenshot?
Hi guys, sorry for another battery thread but I'm sure I am not alone with this.
I had disabled location services in config (totally disabled) and I was getting good battery life I think (always more than 3 h screen time ) but I noticed that some tasker profiles based on location weren't working (obvious). So today I enabled Location but only by WiFi and network (didn't check gps) and after a while I checked battery status and got this. If that is true that drain is really big ! More than battery? It doesn't make sense to me.
What do you think?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It's a relative statistic. It didn't use 37% of battery it used 37% of the battery used.
Thanks. But don't you think its high anyway?

You used 50% of your battery in almost 8 hours and you think that's high? Check your screen on statistic. Most people only get 3-4 hours of screen on for the entire life of their battery.
Perhaps unchecked currents under your Google account, that was causing battery drain for a lot of. Nexus 7 peoples
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks... But I checked and currents is not even associated to my Google account... But it's active... Good guess... Should I disable it?

Regardless of whether your screen was on 4 minutes or 4 hours, it should not be that high.. I don't know how to fix it though, because this happens to me on multiple roms.. My only solution is turning Google now off, but it sucks cause I used to use it a lot

That usage is good, but what would happened if I had disable "Location Services"? I would had 37% more battery! Much better!
Screen time when I took the screenshot was about 1:20h.

Yes, looks like the same happens here. And it's very strange that other people don't seem to have that problem, I really not understand.
Today I'm still testing and it's the same, Google Services uses more battery than screen, anyone who knows about electricity knows that if you are using the phone it's almost impossible.
And what is more crazy is that I'm not using GPS, it's always turned off. Locatization is only done by network and wifi.
It's obvious a bug and I hope that they fix it. I prefer not using Google Now than wasting almost 1 hour of screen time.

No you wouldn't have. At most you could potentially have 18% more battery. And that's only if the battery usage statistic is 100% accurate which is never is.
I have an HTC EVO 4g LTE and I have the same problem. I can't find a solution for it and it does it even if I turn off all location, google now, google sync. I think it has something to do with google play, but I don't know for sure.
Any ideas on how to fix it? It's not very common and I don't think it is caused by any one thing. It only started after the JB update btw.

I've discovered that Google services turns on even if you are in airplane mode and you have the wifi on but not connected to a network. I did a factory reset yesterday and nothing. I might have to unroot and take it in if I can't find an answer.

I kept enabled Google Now and Location service and these were the results... My battery life is good even with this drain... Stock 4.2.1 and Franco Kernel...
If I had disabled Location and Google Now I would have had (what location services drained) 30% more! More than 3:30 h of screen time.
So sorry Google ... With this drain I won't keep them enabled...
Its a shame because I used network location to turn on and off WiFi automatically when I was entering and leaving home. Will have to do it manually..

Today I disabled location services and Google now.. See the difference... This is what battery life is meant to be ... With stock 1750mah battery!!!

That makes sense but you can always go back. New ROMs are like
new phones. Sourcery with ak is stable and gets good batt life.
The day is about to finish and here are the final results... As predicted disabling Google now and location gave me 0:30 of screen time and more than 1 h idle.
Sad

I solved it
I had this issue with my S4. I found it was the new update of Google play service that caused this issue. The battery usage of google services came back to normal after I delete the update. However, the new hangouts requires the latest google play service.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and signed up to see if anyone could shed some light on an issue I'm having with my rogers samsung Galaxy s3 white 16gb i747m.
I contacted samsung because the device is only several months old and they want to send it for analysis. But I'd like to see if anyone here is familiar with the issue.
Anyway on certain occasions when the phone is left u plugged at night and fully charged it will be depleted to 1% in the morning.
When I checked the battery information it shows the Wifi and wake are on continuously through the night. I don't have any apps like Facebook or anything major running in the background. I took a screen shot of the battery screen when it happened once.
When I explained it to Samsung they told me to turn off all my processes before going to sleep using task manager.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

Hi guys,
Is there any battery mod for galaxy nexus which boots the phone after getting fully charge or custom setting, instead of the battery animation icon when the phone is switched off. Similar app like nomoarpowh made by chain fire????
