Wanted to let everyone know that the background noise issue when the other party speaks is due to nothing more than the enabling of the "additional call privacy" option in the settings.
Uncheck and the problem is solved

I'm having a serious issue with my Verizon TP2, sometimes the other end of the call (the person I'm speaking with) cannot hear me. Sometimes it happens in the middle of the call, other times it happens immediately and even after hanging up and calling back, it still occurs and isn't rectified until I perform a soft reset. I haven't installed any cab's or app's that would alter audio or the microphone, and my hand is not covering the microphone when speaking and the mute is not activated (although the symptoms would make it seem like it is).
Any idea's why this is happening?
Much thanks.
Bit of a long shot, but have you tried toggling the Auto Volume Control?
It's in the Settings Tab > All Settings (Left softkey) > System tab.
I had this set to 'enabled' once whilst recording a voice commentary, but it turned down the sensitivity of the mic during a segment with some background noise. I resolved this by disabling the setting. Your mileage may vary.
I know theres a feature which uses the second mic to check the background noise and cancel it out of the call but its been driving me mad recently. Everyone complains about me sounding very quiet and muffled.
I know the phone has various features which could be doing this but i cant pin point which one it is and how to turn it off.
I don't spose anyone could shed some light on it could they?
cheers guys

Click to collapse
check if you have "Auto Volume Control" in All Settings on the System Tab Enabled - if so Disable it
also check the Hearing Aid Compliance in All Settings on the Personal Tab
Probably the biggest thing to check is:
go into PHONE > MENU > Options...
Go to the Advanced tab (all the way to the right on my phone)
There is a drop down box labeled: Reduce noise in phone calls
set that to never
Cheers
thanks for the response mate, that does sound like the option im after! The only problem is im using Valkyrie_v4.0 FireStorm ROM and i think a few of the settings have been re-arranged.
Ill ask in the thread related to that ROM, but can anyone else offer a suggestions of where it could be hiding?
thanks again
Problem: Instead of playing the selected ringtone when I get phone calls I hear the bonk sound hear when I adjust my volume? This remains even after reboot.
Solution: It was an application called CallBlocker. I had enabled a setting called Pre-Mute Ring which was causing the issue.
Call controll does work very well, however this feature does have a caveat indicating it might not work correctly on all phones. I think the purpose is to mute the ring until it can identify if the call is on the blacklist or not. After that, I think it's supposed to unmute so you can hear the ring.
I finally figured it out after numerous reboots and a kernel upgrade. The problem remained so I figured it had to be some piece of software that messed with the call settings.

Hi,
I have a strange problem and I really don't know how to solve it.
The problem is related to the sound when ringing.
If I set the "sound and vibrate" checkbox in Sounds, then the phone rings and vibrate a little and then stop the sound.
The screen still show the incoming call and the caller still hear that the phone is ringing.
The ring sound sometimes stop immediately after it's starting, sometimes ring 1, 2, 3 ... times.
BUT, if I unchecked the "sound and vibrate", the phone ring normally, as long as the caller keep the call open.
Does anyone met the same strange behavior?
The ROM is stock 4.1.1 XXALIJ, rooted with CF-auto-root.
At this moment I don't have any sound manager / profile manager installed.
I tried also to clear cache from recovery, but nothing.
What could be the cause?
What can I try to make it acting as it should?
Regards,
Stefan
I hope it is not affected by any motion settings, i.e you are covering the screen with your palm or turn it over?
If you are asking if I'm covering the phone with my hand, or if I'm turning it WHEN it's ringing, the answer is NO
But if you are asking if I have these options checked in settings, the answer is YES. I have them checked.

I'm noticing an issue when I send text messages using the default app. Pixel 2 XL, 8.0.0, factory reset a couple times did not fix this issue.
It's the only "sound" issue I'm noticing and the only place I notice it is in the messaging app, the "Outgoing message sound" that bings when you click send on a message. It's a simple tone, and I hear the tone however the first millisecond or two of the sound is garbled/distorted enough to notice. If I send text messages in rapid succession to test the sound, it seems to get a little better, however when no message is sent for a second, then you click send there is a distinct distortion sound at the very beginning of the tone. I'm wondering if it's a speaker/hardware issue and solely my own? Could this be a software issue? Or if anyone else has encountered this? I could fix this by simply deactivating the tone in the "app settings", "Additional settings in the app", and uncheck the "hear outgoing message sounds", but if it's a hardware issue I want to RMA this thing.
Reset the phone twice, (just an aside the first reset the sim free setup failed for some reason, so I reset it again and it worked fine)... but the sound issue/distortion remains on the send message tone.
Aside from that I'm having no screen issues or any other issues really- phones been superb which is why the tone distortion is so frustrating, given I text message excessively.
Thanks for any reply
