If you dont have the backup of stock rom, then the only option left is through RUU.
Go to htc site & downloading the RUU depending upon your region / service provider.
once you find it. Let me know

How did you revert to stock to use ota? I've been using mikes stock rom on my brothers hox but it always shows no updates. Can you please explain the procedure in detail, what rom were you running before updating and what you did to update?
His cid is VODAP021, phone bought at vodafone but optus sim is inside.

New all that already but thanks anyway. Thought there was something else. It's kinda difficult to go back to stock since the right ruu for my brothers phone is only hosted on filefactory and requires a premium account. If someone has this ruu: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Voda-Hutch_AU_2.17.862.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_275359_signed.exe and could provide a no-premium-account-needed link, that would be most helpful.

I use mike's roms too, I think he blocks the update option so you don't even see it.
1. Download the Nandroid Backup form here. And install it via recover/ touch recovery.
2. Install stock recovery via fastboot, I used the Stock HTC Recovery 1.26-1.29 (wasn't sure which one mine was to start with) get the download also from here.
3. Relock bootloader Via HTC DEV
4. Now you have everything stock, do OTA via the setup/abouts/update menu.
5. Unlock bootloader Via HTC DEV
6. Install Touch Recovery
7. Install mike's roms

You can skip step 3. Bootloader doesn't change so no need to relock and unlock again (saves lots of time).

Hold your power key and the volume down button for approx 10 sec...you will boot into bootloader and you will see your HBoot version..!! This rom that you are trying to install requires you to have a version higher than 1.30 so check it!!

Yes you have to install the correct RUU and also flash stock recovery for the OTA to work...!!
Cheers..!!
Before you do anything ....make a nandroid backup of your stock rom in the custom recovery, that way you never need a ruu (that might not be available)
After that you can flash anything (that is compatible to your hboot)

If your RUU is not available you won't be able to get it back, but use an unbranded version or any other RUU you are keen on instead.

No. To revert to stock rom you have to flash it again. You don't know what you are running in your device?? that is weird.
Check in menu>settings>about phone...

Reboot into recovery and check under 'backup and restore'. If there's nothing there, you didn't make a backup. If there is, make a backup of your current Rom before you revert.

I think you are one of those many, that used the latest india rom available before rooting (from the 1.18 hboot) so no luck for you, because there is no ruu for that version.
THIS is as far as you can get to stock ATM.

It is deatiled in the thread I linked above. Flash twrp to your phone, put the files downloaded for your phone to the folder mentioned (I haven't used TWRP in my life) flash back stock kernel (boot.img) attached to that post an recover from twrp. This is for stock rooted rom. If you want a full stock rom you need in additin the following:
-bootup your phone and remove the root (the SU program can do it for you)
-go to fastboot usb mode, flash the stock recovery (also attached to the post) and relock the bootloader. (fastboot oem relock)
This later is not really needed or advised, because the BL will remain 'relocked' so if you want back stock because of service under warranty there is not much chance for it. (warranti is void because of BL unlock with HTCdev.com)
OR
If you want stock "like" feeleing there is mySense. Snappier than stock, but has everithing in it

Hekp me pls !

Sounds like the phone is rooted or the system has otherwise been modified. If so, you need to ruu, or restore an unmodified system image backup (I doubt you have one or you wouldn't be asking for help) to return to stock before ota will work.

The firmwares are the same. Just wait for marshmallow. The last digit is how many attempts to push to device so at best it only has a stagefright patch so its not really worth the hassle.

You are aware of the fact that version 2.10.709.6 already exists and that the M9 installs OTAs incrementally, aren't you? That makes one update from 1.40.709.4 to 1.40.709.8, one from 1.40.709.8 to 2.10.709.1 and a third one from 2.10.709.1 to 2.10.709.6 which are currently not installed on that phone. So I would say it is worth the hassle to update that device. (Besides I would say it's not a real hassle at all. Restoring a TWRP backup or flashing a RUU aren't too difficult tasks. )
