How did you revert to stock to use ota? I've been using mikes stock rom on my brothers hox but it always shows no updates. Can you please explain the procedure in detail, what rom were you running before updating and what you did to update?
His cid is VODAP021, phone bought at vodafone but optus sim is inside.

Well you find a RUU for your HTC device and use that. You must have stock recovery.

New all that already but thanks anyway. Thought there was something else. It's kinda difficult to go back to stock since the right ruu for my brothers phone is only hosted on filefactory and requires a premium account. If someone has this ruu: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Voda-Hutch_AU_2.17.862.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_275359_signed.exe and could provide a no-premium-account-needed link, that would be most helpful.

I use mike's roms too, I think he blocks the update option so you don't even see it.
1. Download the Nandroid Backup form here. And install it via recover/ touch recovery.
2. Install stock recovery via fastboot, I used the Stock HTC Recovery 1.26-1.29 (wasn't sure which one mine was to start with) get the download also from here.
3. Relock bootloader Via HTC DEV
4. Now you have everything stock, do OTA via the setup/abouts/update menu.
5. Unlock bootloader Via HTC DEV
6. Install Touch Recovery
7. Install mike's roms

Hi mate,
I have an HTC One X from Vodafone too (CID: VODAP021).
Been trying to find the Stock RUU or Nandroid for the past week, but no luck.
I will greatly appreciate if you could share your Stock Nandroid Backup please.

Mate, did you even bother reading this thread? Or this section of forum?
In post #8 there are links you can use, as well as the instructions.
I'd like to unroot my phone and go back to stock, coming from AOSP 4.2.2. My CID is VODAP102, is the anyone who happens to have a link to the RUU file of it?
since www.htcruu.com is down...

As far as I know, there is no RUU for this CID, but you could use nandroid instead. Try HERE, you will find what you need.
Also, check you main version, this is also important when choosing correct nandroid (and RUU, also).

Thanks for your reply.
My main version is 2.17.161.4, which is not listed with VODAP102. Should I take an other one, like VODAP001/2.17.161.4 or isn't this possible?

Actually, main version is more important for nandroid
I thought you were on JB already, sorry.
If you want to upgrade, use 2.17.161.4 nandroid, then flash OTA update, and then just choose custom ROM you want, or stay with crappy Voda stock :crying:
I went exactly the same way, and my One X is rocking Renovate Final 2 with xm #192. I love it!

I am on JB already (4.2.2). But I want to downgrade to my stock HTC (crappy Voda :crying rom.
So I shoud be just fine if I choose to nandrestore to 2.17.161.4 CID VODAP001, since the mainver is the same? Just for confirmation, I dont like to mess things up.
What happens to my CID after restore, since it is different? And my HBOOT?

I am not really sure about downgrading. Try searching here, I remember there were some threads about it.
CID is hardcoded to your phone, so it cannot be changed unless S-OFF (which is not coming soon to One X). HBOOT also should remain the same.
But, why in the world you would go back? Why don't you flash some custom ROM instead and enjoy the life? I would strongly recommend you to try Renovate, and then decide. :good:
Yeah with that nandroid you can fool the bootloader, restore it and also flash back the stock 2.17 stock recovery. You should be able to update to JB stock with official ota.
Your cid will be listed as the same as the nandroid backup but will be corrected when you do the ota.

is also stock Voda, but JB.
If you want to sell it, it's just as good as ICS stock. If you want to service it, it's the same.
Nandroid that I posted is made from pure Voda JB stock, just after the OTA upgrade.

Just a little warning to Solarr - because I've done it. You may need to follow this procedure:
What if i get MD5 Mismatch?
type in teminal:
Code:
adb shell
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/Name_of_the_nandbackup_folder
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
Click to collapse
because the folder name may not be cwm compatible. Don't worry, if you get the mismatch message, just do the above, and you will be alright. :good:
At first boot, you will get one small OTA first, and then the big one with JB update.
Good luck!

Reboot into recovery and check under 'backup and restore'. If there's nothing there, you didn't make a backup. If there is, make a backup of your current Rom before you revert.

That ruu does not work. When you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom you need to make nandroid backup. That ruu could not wipe your phone because it doesn't install at all ! Now you can only return to stock with a stock nand backup.
So what's the issue ? What did you do ?
You previously installed the 2.17 ruu. Then updated the phone ..... and then ?

Firewater doesn't work anymore. HTC patched the exploit.
You'll have to use SunShine S-Off. It costs $25, but is guaranteed to work or you don't pay.
Having S-Off is totally worth $25 IMO.
Here's a link to their website.

The stock recoveries or in that link too. I'm not sure if you need them for sunshine though. Try with custom recovery, if that doesn't work, get a stock recovery.
Or get both ROM and recovery stock, then reflash a custom recovery and ROM.
If you get both to stock, you shouldn't have any issues.

First, I misunderstood your earlier question. Yes the number in front of the backups are for firmware.
To help you more, I'll need some information. Hook up your phone to your computer and start ADB. Then issue these commands:
adb reboot fastboot (wait till your phone boots into fastboot)
fastboot getvar all
Then post what the readout says here, but edit out your serial number (serialno) and IMEI for your own safety.
Then I'll be able to give you a little more guidance.

Your CID is ORANG202 and your firmware is 1.54.73.5, so you will need the backup that corresponds with that.
The backup available was made with TWRP recovery. So you'll need that. (In my opinion, TWRP is a better recovery, less issues)
You could go to their website to download it and get instructions on how to flash it, but there is a much easier way.
Go to the Play Store and install an app called TWRP Manager. Hit the three line menu thingy on the top left, and pick "Install TWRP".
After that go back to the stock backup thread and flash the backup that matches your CID and firmware.

Firmware updates. If you have one fresh out of the box, Firewater would probably still work. And still does for some.

My friend has made a comprehensive guide on firmware and firmware flashing, complete with downloads. Make sure to read the whole opening post so you understand everything. It looks like it might be hard because of his full explanation of the whole process, but it's actually very easy. And very informative.
