In my searching of the best performance for our Xperia S, I want to know which rom choose the Xperia S users. We have no official Jelly Bean, and CM10 is the base of all, but obviously they are quite different.
I want that you decided thinking in battery, and in possibilities in appearance and usability (and other configurable parameters).
I Did not try MIUI, but imagine it will also smooth.
I assume that we start with Unlocked Bootloader.
PAC in my opinion. I don't like iPhone's so wouldn't want miui. And there's a few more options in pac over cm

BTW you can choose PAC with nova Kernel for maximum performance and customization + install mihome launcher (by miui) for cool themes!
Thats what I have done and I am totally happy with it!
Try it!

Each ROM is going to behave slightly differently for each device. Reading the threads and flashing them yourself is the only real way to tell which one will work the best for you and your device.

How is PA Rom and PAC rom when it comes to smoothness, do they come anywhere near CM?
They're both super smooth. I always use PAC

XTX I would recommend if you are not using the SD-card
I will recommend you (in order)
CM10
NOVA
CM9
Stock ICS
I try other (custom ics) like ka etc...
I found they're too unstable, random reboot, performance issue...

AW: what rom would you recommend?
PAC is one of the best Roms available for the Xperia S in my opinion.
It is super smooth, easily costumizable and stable.
In the new Version it even contains some Sony Features like Walkman and launcher.

I definitely recommend hei125 Nova rom with the nova kernel. Very stable, constantly updated and responds to all the complaints and fix them.

[Q] Is CM10 based on JellyBean?
Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm pretty new to this as well. I'm currently running XTX8. I tried XTX9 but it was very slow and laggy so I reverted back to XTX8. I wanted to try CM9.1 but couldn't get it installed, so just did a restore as it was late at night. It's just I didn't consider CM10 as I thought it was based on JB, and I wanted something that's stable and not still being 'developed' as such.

As the title suggests, what custom firmware (or even stock) are you using on your Xperia S? How long have you been using it and what do you like the most about it?
Personally I've been using FXP's CM10 (currently on 209 now) for at least about 3-4 months now and although I really love how smooth and fast everything is sometimes I miss the stock apps from sony like the camera app and sometimes even the look and feel of the stock rom and ofcourse stability.
I tried Paranoid Android about a month ago but quickly went back to CM10.
How about you guys?
Hi
Thanks for this usefull thread... I am using XZX2 done by niaboc79 as my custom rom.. Previously i am on XTX7 by the same niaboc79. I tried all the custom rom.. Around 8 . But this one is the most superb and beautiful rom i ever used. Its feels like a Xperia Z in my hand... Superb rom. No problem for me still now.. All the games are working very smoothly... I like this rom very very much...

I've seen that XZX rom a couple of times but i've been pretty iffy in trying it out (since it involves a full factory wipe, and a stock rom if i remember correctly)
I'm using XTXperience 1 rom made by niaboc79, I 'm going to try CM soon
Hi all,
I want to run cm 10. So there are various roms available. But what are the differences? Beside the official (http://get.cm/?device=anzu) there are 2 unofficial within the forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147958 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780316).
Theming, theyr own tweaks, light or heavy.
Ex.

Slim bean - heavy, themed
Super jb - light, themed, tweaks

What are you saying lol slimbean has the aokp tweaks and customization and it's 89mb, super jb is 125mb and doesn't have interface tweaks at all..
It's about tastes, you have to search for what CM suits you, or if you want stock features, Ultimate HD based on stock.

Hey lad, i wrote it as example to make it easier to understand.
Last time i tried slim bean (long time ago) it was heavy and had its own slimbean logo etc etc.
Super jb got xperia z style status bar and launcher.
I also wrote that it was all up to OP

Yeah, favoring superjellybean. If you're gonna tell an advice about ROMs, at least be neutral if you're not going to say the actual truth or give correct "examples" as you say. The xperia Z thing is something relatively new, it actually looks like ICS imo, and xperia's launcher isn't the best thing ever, let's be clear on it, on my side, I ran away from ICS stock because I didn't liked the statusbar at all, it's ugly compared to JB blueish/samsung's. (totally my own opinion). You did wrote that, but like saying "But hey.. This one has things but it's bad, this one too but it's bad, use this one." Not the first time I see that kind of advertisement...
Look, thanks to FXP we have CM available. The "official" is the second one you mentioned, that's the base for the other CM10 ROMs such as Super Jelly Bean, SlimBean, Racing Bean, etc. If you want the cleanish thing to start from scrach, download the official one, if you want things added "after-market", go search at the Arc/s Android Development forum and give the CM10 roms a try, I hope that answers your question~

One thing, when you go to JB, use recommended kernel from ROM thread
About performance you can upgrading with V6supercharge

Xperia Z Jelly Bean is gud ..!!
Haven't used the UHD yet but this is a real gud rom . Even the battery is life is very gud .with the Lupus kernel. But make sure you have a swap of atleast 500MB+ because with out it you might get reboots while using FB or playing games for long periods. Once you the swap in place zero reboots ..!!

Just try it out yourself, no one here can help you choose the ROM since the performance differs with each user because of the different apps they install and the different settings they use.

Chgz01, i believe what you meant was to increase the internal storage from the initial 420MB to 500MB or more by using the swap script by cronmob/xstreamsiliencer. However I do face reboots quite often if the RAM falls below 50MB while running FB or browser.
