Hello!
I have a Sensation and had a sgs2 before, I wonder how does the Galaxy Nexus compare to them in both photo shots and video recording.
Do you think devs can emulate 8mp on the GN?
It's the only thing with the size of the phone that are stopping me of buying it
5 or 8 or 12 it doesn't really matter.
the camera quality of GN is really not so good (it is just OK but it could be better... more better) and it can't compete with sgs2 or iphone or other smartphones with nice camera but people bought GN not for camera, i think we all knew its quality from reviews.

Comparing the GN photos and video to those phones is sure to disappoint. The Sensation offers some of the best video quality I've seen on a phone and the SGS2 takes wonderful photos (and great video!).
If photos and video are important to you, stick with what you have or wait for new phones to be available in April. The Sensation should be getting ICS next month and that will make it a better device over the GN, in my opinion. It has better battery life, a better camera, performs better, etc.
What is your reason for wanting the GN?
Simply the HD screen
But only the white version
As a former SGS2 owner, I can say that in comparison the GN camera sucks. However, it's a great phone and the camera is on par with last year's cameraphones.
the bad quality mainly is from the super poor photo format compression
i wonder why there have not been any expert user modifying some codes for it
I had a nexus one and someone modified a set-profile file and the compression of the photos improved so much...
Hey guys,
I have an S4 and am about to sell it for the One. I heard they already patched the unlock work around... is this true? Can anyone link me to a thread with details?
Thanks in advance

I have the s4 right now too and I'm still getting the one regardless of the unlock hack. Feel like this phone is gonna break in my hand. I'll be getting the one on Thursday so hopefully by then someone will have figures it out
The One is by far the best phone I've ever owned. Period. That's all I've got to say.
Sent from my HTC One.
The bootloader is locked. HTC Dev Unlock was shut down by VZW. The only hope now is a hack.
Here's the link to the thread...

I have both at the moment, but need to ditch one of them. Problem is there are great things about both, and they're very different experiences. My main thing is the camera. The S4 can take some incredible pictures... the One is solid and fast, but a lot more inconsistent than the S4. The S4 also allows me to say "cheese", "capture", "shoot", to get it to auto-focus and snap a shot - which comes in handier a lot more often than I thought. The One also doesn't quite match up with battery life, but that makes sense given the smaller battery.
First world problems...

LOL! Right! I have been reading and debating for weeks and I feel no closer...The Camera is the most important feature for me as I am a crazy shutterbug, but that build quality on the One is so nice...I want the One to have the better camera and an SD card slot damn it! Stupid people at HTC!
also have s3/s4 +htc one.
hard to say which i like better.
but if htc one get s-off, ill ditch the s4 as I don't think it'll ever be unlocked..

Are you stuck on ME7? The S4 I bought a week ago had a bad button - it came out of the box with ME7. However, in store yesterday they just grabbed one out of another box brand new to swap out, and it's on MDK. Since the One is locked up for now, and the S4 I have now can theoretically stay that way as long as someone (like yourself ) continues providing stock/rooted ROMs, correct? Making the decision even tougher... that, and as much as I like the speed and quality of the One's camera, the S4 can simply take some amazing shots... S4 also seems to get better battery life, but the One's UI is smoother/snappier.
Blah...
I'm wavering back and forth myself between getting the One and selling my S3. Aside from build, I personally feel the quality of Sense all the way through is far superior to TouchWiz. I think with the camera is 50/50 because I've had some great shots on my S3 but I've also had some horrible shots; interestingly enough, now that I think about it my first S3 had a horrible camera but the CLN I got takes much better photos.
Anyway, for me even if the battery life is so-so on the One I think fit-and-finish will still win out on me if I go through with it.

The S4 may seem to take better shots because of its over processing. I would personally just find as many camera comparisons as you can and even check out Flickr's camera finder to see.

I got mine from a user mikekid7 for a very great price (basically contract price) that already came with MDK when I bought it.

Sense is definitely cleaner and simpler than Touchwiz, and snappier. But TW on the S4 has a few features that become relatively addicting once you're used to them (this isn't my first S4 )... Air Preview is one - it seems gimmicky, but once you're used to using it, it's pretty handy. Using your voice to take a picture is another I use ALL the time - keeps the hands steady and helps with the self-shots with the kiddos.

This isn't my first S4 or my first One - it is on Verizon, though. I've tested them both extensively, and honestly they both do a lot of processing. The One's camera is really fast, especially if you're using touch-to-capture, and has some cool features like "events" videos. The One has a tendency to wash out in lighter scenarios because it lets so much light in. The S4 keeps lighting more balanced, but if there's a shadow in the foreground (like on someone's face), doesn't bring it out as much because of that "balance". Honestly, the S4 takes better low-light shots than the One does when it's in Night Mode - which it can recognize automatically, but doesn't always do it. But it's also a slower shot than the One's low-light shots. Flash-based shots are hands down to the S4. The One's are good, don't get me wrong, but the S4's shots are bright and balanced with little to no washout, and very crisp and clear. You can really take advantage of those 13mp with the flash. Outdoor shots, especially in good sunlight, also go to the S4 most of the time. If all else is equal, and you're snapping a photo of your kid going down a water slide 30 feet away, they'll both do great - but the S4's will actually be croppable, while the One's will get noisy really quick at that distance.
So in general I like the quality of the S4's shots better, I like the feel and speed of the One's camera better (less the lack of voice control), and I like the feel and speed of the One in general, but also miss some of the voice controls that the S4 has. I also don't hate the S4's feel - it's very thin and tight... just not the nice brushed aluminum feel of the One. I also like that I can root/rom the S4 if I want - I don't do it much any more but would like the option. I can hope the One will be able to soon, but who knows... If I ditch the One today, it'll probably get s-off tomorrow. If I don't, it'll probably be 3 months...
edit: and I also tried out a Droid Maxx for a few days and besides battery life and an incredibly smooth, stock-like UI, found it lacking in almost every other area compared to the One and S4
Holy essay... goodness, sorry - went off there for a bit.
Ha no worries! I never use the voice features or any of the Samsung TW features on my S3, so that's a non-issue. As long as I can control aspects of the camera like metering, exposure value, iso, etc I can work with the camera.
My brain is going so fast trying to think this one through.
I absolutely agree with that sentiment! Months of reading and my conclusion is that I want a mash up of the 2 phones. The One with the S4 Camera & an SD card slot! In the long run, I am an amateur photographer and the S4 will probably win...

I've been wondering this same thing but for me the tricky thing is the lack of the software buttons I'm so used to on my Galaxy Nexus.
Though between the s4 and the one there isn't much a difference although the one's offset home button is kinda odd to me.
Hoping one day I'll be able to flash a rom that ignores the hardware buttons in exchange for software buttons, but that might not be as nice either. So still a tough decision.
I had the s4 and went with the one. The camera is barely better on the s4. No cellphone camera is going to take good shots in low light conditions and I think the one does a bit better than the s4. In normal to great light conditions the cameras are pretty darn close to me. I like the Zoe feature of the one.
Battery life seems to be pretty much the same as well. I'm getting just about the same amount t of screen on time.
I think the one ui is much more fluid. And the big winner for me is the screen. Wow does the one look way better!!
The build quality is amazing on the one as well. I love how it feels like its a solidly built phone he plasticy. I out a case on mine so it kinda doesn't matter but you can still feel that the phone is solid.
Of course that's just my opinion.

The One's camera is also wicked fast, especially if you enable touch-to-capture under shutter options - tap where you want it to focus, it adjusts lighting and focuses and snaps very quickly. And I love being able to make a short video montage with preset audio and effects and share that easily... pretty cool feature with the kiddos.
I think the main areas the S4's camera will win out are large scenic shots that you want to crop or zoom at all, for obvious reasons. And also shots where there's a lot of contrast, it tends to balance things out better, while the One seems to wash out the light areas when focused on the dark areas, and vice versa.

Of course, I have Dslr, but I don't always have it with me, and I have found that 50% of the time, the Phone can equal it...The other 50% it doesn't come close!
BTW, I took the S4 back and got the One! Was not happy with the Camera and that was the only reason I bought it...
Posting this thread in the Note 4 section and the Droid Turbo section to get fair, balanced opinions.
I currently have the VZW Note 4, and I'm thoroughly unimpressed. The camera quality is lacking, the phone isn't fast, though I keep reading how zippy it should be. I have 5 apps installed that didn't come with the phone, and have disabled the bloatware apps. With that said, I'm thinking of moving to the Droid Turbo and wanted some opinions.
I've read the comparison articles, and I'm hoping the community can help me make the best decision based on which phone is likely to root and/or unlock bootloader first, ROM availability, and longevity of update life (will I receive further updates beyond Lolli).

I can tell you this, if you aren't impressed by this camera, you will be sourly disappointed with the turbo's. I actually work for a Verizon Retailer, so I get to play with and sell these phones all day, and I can tell you the Turbo's camera, with it's 21MP lense and hype, is not the sharpest tool in the shed. It's ok, but not as good as something like the Note's camera.
You may see some slight performance differences, since they have essentially the same specs, but the turbo's software is much milder than touchwiz. That being said, I personally prefer a lot of features in touchwiz, but maybe that's because I've had like 4 touchwiz phones in a row. Either way, wouldn't hurt to try the turbo, but I can tell you that you probably won't like the camera, low-light performance in my experience was poor on the turbo.

agreed i used a turbo in store the day they came out. the software is bland to say the least. camera is awful i couldnt stand at all. it might be able to take good photos but not just point and shoot like note 4. no sdcard and no removable battery also strikes it down in my book. note 4 all the way
I agree with the other post the turbo camera isn't the best and lags behind the note in picture quality from the time I tested it.performance wise I'd say MAYBE the turbo will be a half a second faster ..because its almost stock. Far as updates the turbo might get lolipop faster then it again it may not because its a Verizon exclusive. I think IF either gets root it'll be the note since it much more popular than the turbo. Turbo is a OK phone but I think the note bests it overall but never hurts to try you may find the almost stock experience better
I did my research on both and I decided on the note 4 I was deciding on theses two for a while after reading reviews over and over the note won as far as I felt, I have also had only moto smart phones until now, I have had it for a month now and there's no way I would give it up love it, as far as lag been using Nova prime right from day one and never no lag fast as hell. Battery life is better than my old maxx.
That's the main drawback of an N3 now, for me. The rest of the phone still works great even in late 2017, but the camera really falls short of newer models.
How do you improve camera performance on your Note 3? (Not just changing quality from 95 to 100 or whatever, but the actual picture-taking ability, like focus speed and minimizing blur or taking better low-light pictures). Do you use a different app? Is there a combination of stock settings that works for you?
More observations:
The Note 2 had a particular low-light mode (Candlelight?) that slowed shutter speed and made low-light pictures much better. I haven't seen anything similar on the Note 3. Am I just missing something?
The Note 2 seemed to have more control over blur-vs.-brightness. I didn't care if pictures were dark as long as they were mostly sharp. Note 3 seems to prioritize brightness over freezing fast motion, no matter how I change ISO, low-light detection, stabilization, etc. How do you capture fast motion?
I've tried practically every N3 ROM with an S7/N7/S8/N8 camera app and can't find a single one that does tap-focus at the same speed as N4 camera apps. If you use the S/N 7/8 cameras and tap on the screen, there's half-to-full-second delay before it finishes focusing. I've tried this on a bunch of ROMs on several different N3 handsets. Same delay with S7/N7/S8/N8 cameras. I guess it doesn't matter if the above observations still apply, but I'm sharing in case anyone's had the same headache.
Note3 Camera Improvements
Improvements to the camera are ROM/Kernel dependent. -- And unless it's a well hidden ROM, I think I've at least kicked the tires on anything I could successfully install and run on my N900T.
Are you looking for 'just' a camera improvement, or do you include video in your search? -- I believe the newer DarkLord ROM's boast 60fps with the Note3. Although dated, there are still some pretty good youtube videos out there that talk about camera and vid firmware.
As far as focus speed, blur, low-light, etc. goes, are you using the original OS app? -- (Not a sales pitch) I've found that CameraFX does a far better job querying the camera2 api than anything else out there, Modded or not.
Well, it looks like I'm still not able to upload images, being too new or something. If you're interested, leave me a PM, and I'll figure out a way to get you a few screenshots and more information on the camera. The Note3 still rocks the planet, and although I understand the reasons why, It's still sad to see so many great dev teams leaving the Note3 for the newer models that are essentially just retreading what the Note3 offers for right at $200.00
Good luck!

Mainly seeking camera improvement, but video's a nice bonus! I'm pretty loyal to MagMa, but I might check out DarkLord.
I've read about CameraFX. Might have to fork over the few bucks and buy it if it's really worth it. I'm on the N4 camera app (S7/N7/etc. cameras on N3 have too long of a focus delay when you tap the screen to focus). N4 camera app's fine, but I'd just like some better all-around performance, and I swear the N3 has the power. Like you said, it's still a great performer in every measure. I know a camera can only be improved so much, but I figured the right app might make it sing more. I'll look into CameraFX. Thank you!
Hello all,
I've been thinking of updating my phone(currently running Xperia M4). So I thought of buying the A5 2017. I already gathered that it's battery life is very good(important for me), however some people were disappointed by the camera. Can somebody confirm if this is true? More specifically, can you upload some pictures taken with it? Any other problems/drawbacks(I don't care much about gaming performance, which also seems to be lagging)?
Camera is pretty good as long as you keep your hands still, front camera has a range of focus, and games aren't lagging on my phone, idk about others. Battery is a beast.

Thank you. Can you please upload some sample photos? I've seen some on reviews, but I suspect that they might have picked the best shots(or used something like a tripod). I'd like to see what the "average" shot looks like
Here ya go, but you have to rotate most of them.
i recomand open camera ,is the best for the video and photo
The camera is OK. It's not bad but it aint great either. It would - imo - be one of the negatives of the A5. The battery is good, the screen is great and the build and feel are like premium, but the bloatware is ridiculous.
Sample images
PS if you like rooting your phone then Samsung just made it impossible after the December update.

Hi. Samsung have locked the bootloaders in latest updates. Until a fix is born, i cant root and nothing in the below links have worked for me.

Well, to answer my own question, here are some photos I took with my new A5 2017 on my trip in Boston: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ll0SNnnnjE5oyE9P2
To any who might read this post and wondering whether to buy the phone, here's what I think after a week: Superb battery, good photos(especially macros) you can also do Photo spheres using the google camera, performance is just fine, no lags or delays. However make sure to buy a case and a screen protector soon after you buy it, because on the second day it got(albeit small) scratches, and it has been only in my pocket with nothing else inside!
The camera really sucks for me, atleast when you are snapping text documents, you have to take atleast 3 photos to later find out that the 2 are just too blury. The another problem is poor WiFi, often reconnects and gets slow, the battery seemed superb at the beginning, the updates often reduce the battery life a lot, then you get some update that fixes it and so on. Not to mention that after few months GPS is often slow, even after redowbloading the A-GPS DATA...
Camera is crap. I love redmi 5 plus camera, battery, price...
