Searching for ICS or JB ROM - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i am looking for ICS or JB Roms for my Xperia Play. I don't know how many Roms are excisting, but i am looking for an ICS or JB which i can tweak without additional Apps realy good, and which doesn't need much Memory and Ram and also i can overlclock up to 2.0GHz(not necessary) or i can use the Lupus Kernel.

I have the SlimBean Jelly Bean Rom with the Sony Theme and Sony Addons like Media Apps or Walkman. It´s really fast and for me the best rom

OK thanks, i will try it.

So now i only need one thing, and that is the Lupus v4 Kernel for JB, because thats the last one which i can OC up to 2.0GHz

Jelly Zeus is another good jellybean ROM with Google apps allready installed so you don't have to flash them. Turbo ui is a good kernel to use with it

Since that you wishes for a rom that is stable and has all the stuff working..then the only option that you have is stock based rom such as arconium, jelly sandwich, ics jb remix..etc..cm9 and cm10 is out of the question then..However, if you prefer the aosp look..you may try jj hybrid rom that is based on stock but with the cm9 look..it is fast too..
Right now I am using Omega v3 with the jb driver and lupus v5.2 kernel..for me that and jj hybrid is the fastest rom that i ever tried..
Aha, great then I might try it then
..
If you don't care about graphical user interface ,defintely JJ hybrid rom is great (fast - compatible with games - has ROM control as well) ,few bugs though like wifi hotspot http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1537717
If you care about having nice user interface with reasonable game performance with lots of free ram available you can try Jelly sandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1836993 or the Remix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1884958
Also Xperia Purness worth a try as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1788701
For the Kernel i always advice to use stock kernel in order to avoid battery drain issues.

This is so far the smoothest and fastest ROM I have experienced on my phone
It provides loads of memory:
Internal Memory : About 350 Mb on clean install (could be more)
RAM : On average gives an awesome 240-250 Mb free on clean install
This is so far the max amount of space provided by any ROM
Main Features
1. Clean and awesome UI from Xperia S
2. NXT style lockscreen (fully working)
3. Notification Toggle fully working with working Network Mode Toggle (2G/2G3G/3G)
4. Modded Camera Higher Image and Video Qualty
5. Xperia launcher with options avilable

Btw, I am on jj's hybrid ROM.Yeah, its great but there are launcher lags :| and not so much ram available occasionally...
Go for Jelly Sandwich 6.1 | Adv Stock ICS Kernel
Super Fast, Smooth, Stable
Great ROM....
Yeah Jelly Sandwich is the fastest rom i've ever tested.
Vote for JJ Hybrid, Jelly Remix, Pureness ...
I'm on JJ Hybrid Stock kernal after some time you might see some launcher lags.Battery is doing good

Too much topic abt "best rom".
In my opinion, GB is the best. I use Acorium 8.2 and everything ok for me.
xperia ultimate hd by jader for super speed and stability, combined with adv. stock kernel
Jelly Sandwich 6.2
my Best

Works good with best battery life
Tried many, but have to admit GB is the one with the least lags.I am using X-GAMER now and its fantastic
Stock based Gingerbread ROM beats any ICS/JB ROM anyday.. Use Arconium 8.2 or Xperia S ROM.. Everything works fine and smooth!

Ever trying JB based ROM?
Was wondering about bugs/FCs before, but after 1 month using KXP ROM in the development section I could not suffer the lags of any 4.0 roms any longer:fingers-crossed:
I do not play any large games on phone (psp, 3ds are for games) n not interested in the cameras, so far JB roms work well for me.
Jelly Sandwich 6 + adv stock kernel
amazing: smooth and battery friend.
Xperia T 5 rom + adv stock kernel + build.prop& init.d custom tweaks = awesome

From the current Roms I can recommend
- Ultimate HD,
- Xperia T
- Pureness
all of which support the Sony styles and Apps and
-JJ Hybrid Rom
which focuses on bringing AOKP style while still supporting most of the Sony features.
I'm using Ultimate HD which seems to me to be the fastest right now for everyday use.
For kernel I use KTG Anzu, but can also recommend the advanced stock kernel.
From the older Roms I liked KA21 a lot. And Battery wise ArcKnight Kernel in Version 3.3 stock is great too.
Light...
Jelly Sandwich
If my opinion, Jelly Sandwich is a great ROM both in performance and stability (do a bit tricky in instalation) And you can expect a great deal of support from its creator, wich is constantly bringing updates and bug fixes

ICS and JB roms dont have touchpads 100% functionality yet neither does the gamepad.
This is the best ICS ROM for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854682
I'm using it with Lupus kernel and overclocked to 1.2.
Great performance and Xperia NXT style.

I know it can be confusing, so it is best to flash kernel recommended by rom owner.
But, i can try to explain:
There are two (2) type of roms:
-Stock (based on sony's firmware)
-Aosp (or aokp, cm or miui)
So, you have Stock gb and ics, but no Stock jb.
For Aosp based roms, you have cm7 as gb based, cm9 as ics based and cm10 as jb based (i don't know what is miui based on)
To be able to boot rom, you need kernel that match type of rom you want to install.
Some version of kernels can boot dual type roms:
Example:
1: ics/gb Stock - can boot ics and gb roms based on Stock firmware
2: ics/gb cm - can boot ics and gb based on aosp ics gb roms
3:lupus v8 jb can boot Aosp jb and Aosp ics roms, and MAYBE that's the
kernel you are searching.
The best way is to search in kernels thread based on rom you want to install

dude, that makes a lot of sense, ever since i installed the kernel that i mentioned earlier i have been having random issues with some custom roms
usun lupus ics v12 720 on verizon xperia play
Gin2jelly bean rom is not recognized by my computer and wom was amazing but i dont like when developers put too much apps in it . i guess the problem was the kernel i am using
ICE CREAM PURENESS : laggiest thing ever, dont know why
[ROM][GSM] Gamer 4 [Ultimate Sony experience], this rom i wanted to install because it has on screen softkey buttons. so i could use those instead of the hardware one, but have to uninstall because the didnt appear on screen and has lots of apps.
SLIMBEAN: WELL I COULDNT INSTALL IT AND KERNEL KEPT ON BOOTING LIKE CRAZY.
NOW I AM BACK WITH THE BEST ICS ROM IN MY OPINION THE TRUE ANCESTOR FINAL EDITION, WHICH I LOVE BUT IT DOESNT HAVE THE SOFTKEY BUTTONS
but now that you clarify this i might try to flash a jelly bean kernel since google claims that jellybean is the one to beat lag.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR REPLYING.
greetings from a real newbie
Well, just to add, if you want gaming perfomance, use gb roms. Ics is stable these days, but little slower then gb in gaming. Jb is only Aosp based, it's good in gaming, but some things are still "work in progress".
Ps: we where all noobs at some point
Ask whatever you want (just do not ask for ETA)

Eta is asking when something will come out. Neo2play is the Rom that he made and its in his Signature that's why you see it in all his posts. That rom doesn't haven't screen buttons but it does give you lots of choice in what you use to fully customize your phone through aroma installer. It should work if you have an ics kernel but it has to be a stock ics kernel not aosp. If your using true ancestor then that means neo2play should work on the sane kernel
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)
True ancestor rom, as my rom also, is based on Stock ics for Neo L (since that phone have exactly same hardware as play, minus touchpafs). My rom came out later, but i modded it more, and put aroma installer with bunch of rom options (gamers like less things installed, casual gamers sacrifice ram for the sake of extra stuff).
Some roms have osb (on screen buttons), but you'll have to search for it.
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
If you really want osb then you can use markphytons nxt ics revolution rom. He removed it from xda but you can probably find a link for it somewhere in q&a section

what kernel do you prefer, Lupus v8 or Turbo kernel?

I am trying to decide witch kernel i need out of these two. turbo kernel 3.1 or lupus v8
both have pros and cons
Turbo kernel 3.1 (PROS) can install mostly all android versions (GB and up) both stock and aokp
Turbo kernel 3.1 (CONS) has a small but annoying glitch, in stock ics based rom screen animations are broken
lupus v8 (PROS) does all its supposed to.
lupus v8 (CONS) Can only install akop roms, ALS is disabled

Id say turbo has more pros and it's only con is in stock ics while lupus can't even use stock ics. But I think lupus has a little better performance though it'd hard to tell with jelly bean
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)
depends...
if you want performance and speed(which most jb and ics roms don't have)you should use the Turbo kernel.
but if you want android's features, such as voice typing(offline)and other things you can use both, but i recommend turbo again(it's my favorite kernel,i manged to have all of JB features on it,but unfortunately i deleted the JB rom(slimbean) by accident)

i ll say turbo kernel 3.1 its better overall..and its newer than lupus jbV8..performance wise its very similar..in some JB roms i have more antutu score with lupus, others with turbo..little difference in each case..but just for more options, i d go with turbo 3.1.
