Case-mate VS Trident case which is better??

I have the Casemate Toughcase and Realook and have been very happy with it. Good mix of protection and style.
The Cyclops looks a bit big for my tastes but looks like it would protect well.

I have the Trident case.
The good:
-great protection
-very well built
-durable
-nice features (dust filters, covers, etc)
The Bad:
-Silicone cover is a doghair/dust/dirt mgnet
-the protective clear cover scratches easily
-touchscreen edge typing difficult (the case goes to the edge of the touchscreen glass)
-microusb cover hard to accress (same goes for 3.5mm plug)

I also have the same combination as you. Case mate toughcase + realook screen protector, and I can say that I am very satisfied with them.
I know there are some trade-offs between protection and slimness, but I can live with a little bit thicker if I can forget about dropping my vibrant.

i use a real cheap 5 dollar case i got on ebay. it works great. the only issue i have had with it is that it broke after the 5th fall. i put some tape on the edges and it works great. it adds bulk but not much. i tried a silicone hard back cover but the slicone was crap.my case protects and looks ok. its black matt. and adds some grip. i find the cheapo ebay cases work just as well as the name brand ones.
ps. remote droid is great. i feel like a king.

I was told my trident case was being shipped friday.. Still haven't received it just yet.. But I'm so anxious!

just ordered my hard-case.

got mine and love it, ads a little bulk but it looks good, better in person than in the pictures in my opinion, and makes the phone feel so much more solid.

So, Ordered the Casemate on Dec. 21, and received it this morning (23rd).
Love this case. I had been using the rubber case from Tmobile but wanted something with more protection and easier to get out of my pocket.
The only, I mean "ONLY" complaint thus far is that the screen protector I received with my case is for the UK VERSION i9000.. (has the hole at the bottom for the pad area). I may fire off an email and see if they will correct this but I haven't used a screen protector yet with this phone so its not really a priority.
Pro: Fast shipping, Good looking, Tough and at a Great price (Thanks again de31 for the 30% gift code).
Con:.......eh

Unfortunately all they have are the i9000 screen protectors, it said so last I checked on the site

x3... I'm very happy with this combo and dont see myself changing it up anytime soon. Its taken a few good drops like a champ.

Late to party yall, but I've had Trident's Cyclops case since Thanksgiving & still absolutely love it.
I mostly agree with the above points, but:
1. No scratches here.
2. Zero difficulty accessing ports.
Case DOES impede on the extreme screen margins, which is maddening until you get used to it.
Now, no longer an issue.
Also, bulk feels amazingly addictive. I have an Incipio Feather (nice for an ultrathin) as well, but it no longer feels right in my hand.
Nero 4 ... (j/k for now)

trident here, agree with review but all in all it's great case. i used to always drop my phone w/out a case and didnt think i needed 1 because of gorilla glass. but then it fell on a rock and screen was def cracked but still functional. now that i have trident i rarely drop phone because the case adds bulk, and it isn't nearly as slippery. it's def annoying sometimes when you cant access edges of screen but you get used to it and can get it working (just do it slower). i was always a fan of cheap $5 cases but after a while they always fall apart. trident was $25 on ebay and i would buy another if ever necssary.

otterbox was recently released. i don't have any experience w/them. just looking at it tho i would still stick with trident mainly because of the lip above the camera, makes breaking lens extremely difficult

I just ordered my Trident Cyclops in Orange, with Orange rubber and the Belt holster. Should arrive this week. Love the options Trident gives you for creating a "custom" look.

[REVIEW] Cruzer Lite Argyle TPU Cases

Recently picked up two different Cruzer Lite Argyle Pattern TPU cases...here's what I think:
This applies to both the Clear Argyle & Smoke Argyle Cases.
Please note, I'm NOT affiliated with the maker of these cases...just LOVE a good TPU Case!
1. It fits perfectly- nice and snug. Cutouts are just right. Easy to put on / take off. No "give" doesn't feel like it'll get loose on ya.
2. The volume buttons covered with two overlays, defining the buttons nicely. A little stiff at first, but seems to be softening a little over a few days.
3. Not overly slick. Easy to put in your pocket / remove. Seems to have enough friction to prevent dropping. Some of these TPU cases are like holding a wet fish, while your hands are covered in baby oil. This one's just fine.
4. Lightweight - doesn't add any real bulk...most TPU cases don't. Having such a slim, lightweight phone is something to show off...this doesn't detract from that.
5. Great packaging - most of these type of TPU cases just come shipped to you in a plastic baggie. This had said plastic baggie, with another layer of protection inside that...plus a cardboard cutout. (it's the little things that impress)
6. I love that the SGSII logo can be seen through the argyle pattern. This and the darker of the two cases allow for this. I like it!
7. The argyle pattern itself is sharp...I feel it adds to the classy image of this phone.
I'll say in summation, that I've had an overall pleasant experience with this TPU case...and the Owner that sent it to me. Seems like decent Customer Service in my interactions. Of course, in all honesty a TPU case doesn't offer as much protection as an OtterBox...but overall it serves it's purpose!

I like this case too. I posted a few pictures in another thread.
I didn't like how the volume rocker cover felt so I ended up using the cardboard mod that other people were using with the other TPU cases. I might consider removing that mod because I'm afraid it might damage the buttons in the long run.

I really like these as well. Looks like the smoke argyles are sold out at amazon and I cant find them on ebay. anyone know where these are in stock right now?

My case is in the mail today. Currently I have a silicone skin, these are horrible imo, difficult to put in and out of my pocket as well an eyesore. Cannot wait til this arrives!

What color did you get?

Ordered the clear argyle case, just arrived today. The case fits like a glove, the only thing is that the argyle design is scratched and faded around the corners. Maybe I'm just being finicky. But I can't really argue with the price. Leaps and bounds better than the silicon case I had, oh and it's lighter too.

The way the cases are molded sometimes small defects can be found on the corners. I am glad to hear you like the case.

Other than those minor problems, I love this case. The case seems good enough to give me peace of mind while handling my phone.

Zenus Masstige Block Folio Case

Great Case I just got last week. Not too bulky, lightweight and looks great. Talking with the flip closed feels natural and doesn't distort sound. It feels soft to the touch and it has a great build quality. You can tell they took their time making this. The stand is also great because you can adjust you angle easily! I recommend this case!

As I found out yesterday, it's also very sturdy and protects the phone well... I was taking the Note out of my jacket pocket and it slipped out of my hand and dropped to the rough cobblestone street. I was dreading the sound of broken glass, but all that happened was a slight scrape on one of the corners of the case/phone.
It hit the ground on one of the corners, and nothing happened to the glass, even though it bounced pretty hard.
Very impressed.

I been using this case for a few weeks now and i'm very happy with overal quality and design. I purchased it to use as stand while watching videos but it also came out very protective as well. I add some pictures taken by me to guide people who are interested in this case

I also purchased this case so I could have it once I get an At&t Note. I ordered brown and the build quality looks amazing! It will definitely protect the screen. Now I just need to get that white Note to put in there.

Those pics above are good but you forgot a critical part of the case...
Its also a stand! And will be very useful.

I think brown is best choice to go with white Note. Actually i took those pics with my Note itself so I couldn't figure out to take pictures of the case with Note loaded.

Cool! I am getting a White At&t Note and figured it would look real nice with the brown. That black you have is really clean though.
Does it work well and is it stable enough at multiple angles when you use it as a stand to watch videos/movies?

I also came across this case. Though the Tridea diary case looks better than this but it doesnt have the cutout for talking on the phone with flip closed and also no kick stand functionality. So this case seems to be the best bet.
Existing owners can you tell me for how much u bought this case. Currently its on ebay for $27.88. Should I buy it compared to the tridea case and which color?

I bought the case off ebay for around 28 dollars. Total it was 35 and got here in a week. The camera hole is sunk in so laying it on its back wont allow things to come in contact with camera, its deep enough. I say go with this case!

Hi. Does the elastic band secure the case in a closed position? Also is it durable enough?

yes, the rubber band will hold the case closed very well.
...But how long it will last?
I just recieved the case, today.
I most say, it doesn't look like it will last long or forever.
But still... I think it is a great product.
I'll like the case even with a broken rubber band....

Here's my two cents..
-I recieved this case roughly a week ago and alreaddy the elastic band keeping it together is showing the white elastic inside (got the black cover)
-The stiches where the elastic is stiched into the front cover is widening.
-Very, very bulky.. I thought it would be okay but this makes the phone almost twice as thick. When normally my note slides into my jeans, with this case it had to go into my jacket pocket. Just saying in case you like to carry your note in your jeans pockets.
+It covers every side of the phone
+The grippy area makes it easy to use it as a stand in alot of angles
-Cant give it a 20 degree angle like I could with the SPIGEN SGP Stehen case, so when you're on a desk and want a slight tilt to the note.. can't do it with the zenus case.
Overall: It can't beat Spigen, but then again.. its 15 bucks cheaper.

Man this thing came fast! I ordered it last Thursday night, it arrived today. 2 business days from New York, this seller is on it! Not bad considering I live on the West Coast.
Fit and finish:
When I opened up the package and grabbed the case out of it's blister pack the first thing I noticed was the whole thing was not TPU like I thought it was going to be. The shiny plastic part is a hard plastic and the dull part is silicone. The shiny part isn't so hard that it'll break if you bend it, although I wouldn't try tying it in a knot either, it does have some give to it but it's pretty rigid at the same time. The silicone part is nice cause not only does it provide a lip on the front side of the case allowing you to set the phone face down without damaging it, but it also allows the buttons to be pressed as easily as if nothing was over them. Very nice touch! When looking at the phone from the front you can hardly tell it's even got a case on it, very low profile, very little bulk added. From the back it's much more noticeable due to the way it frames the battery cover, which accentuates my white carbon fiber cover perfectly. The lip it adds to the backside is more significant, I'd guess to ensure you don't mess up your camera/flash/speaker/cover when setting the phone face up.
There is room for improvement though....The cutouts are fairly accurate but the top mic opening is a bit off, it doesn't cover the mic but it's noticeably off centered. You can also see the excess from the mold it was formed in and the transitions from plastic to silicone isn't exactly the smoothest. These are the fine details that can make a good product a great one but it won't be noticed or cared about by most. To be honest, I don't even care about it and i'm very particular, but I like to keep my reviews true and honest.
Once caressed into place, the case fits like a glove and looks very nice. The grip in comparison to the Seidio Surface case is significantly better. This is a minimalists' dream! It protects the corners and edges of the phone, has some screen protection, some camera/battery cover protection, while adding insignificant bulk and allowing you to show off your nice battery cover.
Final thought:
Want drop protection with minimal bulk? This case is for you. It feels good in the hand, adds grip, highlights your battery cover by framing it nicely and when handling the phone without looking at it (putting in or out of your pocket, for example) it gives the feel of a naked phone for the most part. I have finally found a setup i'm 100% happy with, minus the screen protector...but that's going to be changed out for a SPG Ultra Nano Clear as soon as I feel like doing it. The seller is awesome, ships super fast and the product is well worth the cost, which is just $7 shipped. Matter of fact, i'm gonna see if they have any other colors available. Highly recommended!

I think ur gonna love it. It's amazing to me that this $7 case is much grippier than the $30 Seidio Surface. I can rest this thing in my hand, not even squeezing it from the sides, and hold it damn near vertical before it begins to slide down in my hand. And how sleek it is, man i'm really diggin' this setup.

I got it from eBay as well, yes it'll fit perfectly. The only difference between the Intl. version and the US version is internals.

I got my self a pack 2 tone color bumpers 5 for 12 from hong kong with a white carbon fiber back the bumpers are amazing. The fit is small lip on the front and back to keep the screen and camera lense off of surfaces. The button response is flawless, it looks sexy and it fits snug. Im so happy with this purchase

Thanks, I love it. Not sure I can explain it any other way than I already have. I have a TPU case, I can bend and twist that thing however I want and never fear it will break.....cant say the same for this bumper. It's bendable but much more rigid than TPU and certainly feels as if it'll break if bent too much. This isn't a complaint at all as being able to tie my case into a knot is not a prerequisite, its just an observation.

Finally an Ultra Thin Case I love - Elago

So, I was looking for a new skin on my phone when I realized that I didn't want to do a wrap. If you're like me, you'll spend $10 and then remove the skin in like a week. After that you'll have to buy another one if you want to go through the process again. I'm not 100% into cases because of bulk and this is a damn sexy phone.
I scoured a few different places looking for a white thin case when I came across this: ELAGO THIN CASE

This actually feels like it could be part of the phone
Has a Matte White look
Not TPU, its a hard plastic
Lots of compliments just in one day
Cons (Keep in mind, these are things people may not like but doesn't bother me)
Phone is still a little slippery
Buttons are now a bit more flush with the case
Zero lip over the glass to put upside down
The cut outs are exact so accessories are about 1mm from being perfect
I'm going back for the other two colors. This is an awesome case. Does anyone else have any ultra thin cases they can recommend.

It is kinda high, no promo that I'm aware of. This is more of a harder case then tpu, that's what I like about it.. kinda snaps on

Edit: Just went to the link. I just don't like AliExpress. I had problems with them in the past. 20-39 days for a case when I can get it in 2 days from Amazon, meh... I'll pay the difference.

Really? That's a bummer. Mine fits perfect and has no movement. I don't have any sort of skin. I wonder if that's throwing off the fit.

Needs a top and bottom lip. Put your phone face down and it will scratch.

Nope. User a screen protector.. Cases with lips exist. This is for absolute minimalists.

Just went to the mailbox to get the Elago case I ordered after seeing this thread. I'm coming from the Spigen Slim case and, even by comparison, the Elago is ridiculously thin! I love it, but it definitely needs to be paired with a screen protector in order to keep the phone somewhat safe.

It is probably not nearly as thin as that case, but I usually buy Ringke Fusion cases for every phone I get. I love the way it adds the extra tactile feel to the buttons, and has saved me from many drops even on asphalt and hard concrete. I'm not sure how it is on the S8+ yet as my S8+ is not here yet. but I've used Ringke Fusion cases on OP3T, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Xperia Z3, and I have loved it on every phone.

Not even close.

Just a heads up. The Elago scratches and scuffs pretty easily. Not that I expected much from such an inexpensive case but, I've been babying my black Elago and, within 24 hours it already has 4 or 5 long scuff marks across the back. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention. It would've been nice if they had used the same type of rubberized finish found on the Spigen and Ringke slim cases.
