S pen acting weird - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My devil of a son threw my new phone on the floor and cracked the screen pretty bad requiring me to change it. Left a big hole in my wallet too. After changing the screen, I found that my s pen is acting a bit weird. In air view mode, the dot is off by around 2 mm.
I also noticed that the pen sensitivity has also reduced.
Is there any fix for this problem?
I have tried using reset s pen app from the market, but it doesn't seem to help either.

First; turn on auto rotate if it's already on turn it off and on. Then go to display setting and recalibrate horizontal and gyro, finally go to your home screen and scribble the spen around the screen with it held at all angles and draw into the corners. If this doesn't fix it then maybe it's a hardware issue.
If the sensitivity is not right there are two options I know of; open open up the cover/button and adjust the dial underneath, or do as I did and slam the spen quite firmly onto a hard flat surface. (I actually layered mine between two coasters to protect the funny shaped end and hit the side with it at about a third the strength I imagine youd need to break it - it worked wonders for mine. )

Thanks for all your suggestions. I Did what you suggested. Claibrating the gyroscope dis nothing much. Slammed the spen but doesn't help.
Opened the spen and tried adjusting the screws inside... Didn't see much difference.
Guess that leaves me with the only option of heading to the service center and talk to those experts out there.

I dont want to create one more thread, so i will write about my problems here. I have similar problem as OP has.
My wacom sensor behaves strangely in the corners and the edge of the screen.
Here is a picture that demonstrates the problem clearly. All the lines should be straight, but they are not.

Scratch Removal

So I think my stylus put 3 vertical scratches down the screen of my nearly brand new Touch Pro 2. It wouldn't be a big deal but they're really annoying because i can see them when the screen is on. Anyway, this is the top option right now unless you guys know of anything else that could work
Displex: wirelessground.com/saguaki.html
Also I see a lot about toothpaste, but theres about 3 billion kinds and I'm pretty sure I'd pick the one that would just mess it up more.
Thanks!
i've used displex before. make sure u apply very little and wipe gently.
its basically like a sand paper jelly that, if you keep rubbing more and more, will eat away your screen.
just use very little and you'll be fine.
as an alternative, buy a screenprotector (i would recommend brando) and put it on the display.
the scratches will mostly "vanish" behind the protector and the display is protected against further scratches.
An extreme case would be to buy a new digitizer (~$30)
and assemble it.

that site states that it is "Not for use with touch screen displays." I have an HTC Wizard that i want to send to HTC for the rebate program but the LCD is heavily marked up from using the device without a screen protector.
I just installed a InvsiShield full body protector on my tilt 2 the other day after it got a couple small scratches, with the protector on, you can't notice the scratches.

well in dark conditions, the lights hurt my eye. in bright conditions, you don't really notice it
Yep,noticed the very bright lights during dark conditions as well, but suppose that's how it's designed.

Any way to disable them?
Hi.
Have anyone found a way to disable or dim the keypad lights ?
Thanks.
seriously.. those tiny lights hurt your eyes ? i never noticed them too much
i don't think there's any way to dim them, disable maybe.
remove battery, remove 6 screws. use your nails or thin plastic to separate the housing enough to access to the board underneath the main keys.
use a small flat blade screw driver lifting the housing off the board then insert a thin piece of paper on top of the light (to both lights)
you can use colored plastic wrap to suit.

there are instructions around to disassemble arc but its quite easy just to filter or block that light. so try. careful with using.metal tools on plastic

SuperDim is your friend (needs root)

[Q] need help with a strange screen problem

I have an HTC Desire Bravo and it suddenly developed this screen issue.
I uploaded images of the phone to my flickr. It seems that perhaps the lcd oil has leaked or maybe water has gotten in. I'm sure it was caused by pressure on the screen as the LED backlights are more visible round the sides now and the inside screen (LCD) seems curved outwards but the outside (digitizer/touchscreen) doesnt seem bent. anyway here's the links to my pictures, If anyone finds a way to fix it without sending it off to get a new screen please let us know!

In order to fox the screen yourself it literally requires you take take apart the ENTIRE phone from back to front. I'm sure you can find a guide on Google, but you'd be really putting your phone at risk if you haven't got any experience with this.
You can't fix this yourself.. needs to be sent for repair, you'll only make it worse mate

I kinda figured. I was hoping to see if it was possible to open the phone and just blow air between the screen and digitizer.. that way i could theoretically pop them apart with like a bit of surgical tubing and an industrial strength blower.
But if the screen isnt connected with a ribbon and is just silicon stuck on then i'm not doing it. HATE that silicon ****.
Oh and thanks bortak
I had the same problem on my Samsung jet. It's a LCD leak. U can fix it ur self but it is very complicated and requires you to dissassemble your phone ..

It would be more helpful when you post the way to do out here.
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App

Anyone noticing this?

On the back of the phone, towards the bottom of the back there are these marks/scratches that are popping up.
As you move your finger over them, you can feel the texture changes.
Why would these appear if I baby my phone, and have had a case on it from day 1.
It isn't making sense.
I tried to see if I could remove it with a cleaner, but no avail.
What are your thoughts?

I have seen these. Even with a case, you get dust(dirt particles) under the case. As you use the phone normally it does move a small amount in the case and that will scratch the back a little. At least this is what I think is happening as its happened with every phone Ive owned thats been cased.
Yes mine has it..... No case... But my last phone (xperia arc) went through more abuse and has no scratches. I don't have a clue what it is about that general area.

Got these as well. Exact same location. I guess the plastic backing finish is real easy to scratch up. Sucks but at least it is minimal.
I got them too, but at least I can just buy a new back or something.
I have tons of scratches on the back of mine. I set it in the cup holder when I listen to Pandora in the car. Recently these red marks have shown up... they won't rub off and I'm thinking its the color underneath the paint.

is my s6 defective?

I received mine early, next day delivery.
The phone works great, except for the camera. It has issues auto-focusing. If I double tap the home the camera remains unfocused for a lengthy period of time. Sometimes it will remain unfocused. Doesn't matter whether it's attempting to focus near or far, set to auto or selective focus mode, or opening from lock screen or camera app.
Did you remove the plastic?

Wow, I feel like an idiot.
I didn't realize there was a small bit of plastic attached to it.
It would explain why the focus worked when I "cleaned" the lens.
Also realized there are 2 pieces of plastic, on both the flash and the lens.
The plastic on the camrea doesnt cover the lense, so what the point of removing?
I made a post on this in the main S6/Edge section. I'll make it in here too. Be careful not scratching the lens or flash. The flash one is very hard to get off. Stupid Samsung doesn't put tabs on them so it would be easier to pull off.
You don't have to pull them off but I like to since maybe it's causing a glare.

I have a faint white line next to the tower. Not sure if it's because of the protectors.

So I removed both covers, and it's helped some, but the auto-focus is still a little slow.
Here's the screwed up part, if I pick up the phone while facing screen side up and then double tap the home, the auto-focus is sluggish (takes 2-5 seconds to focus)
If I leave the phone screen side down and then flip it up, double tap home for the quick cam, the auto-focus is quicker (camera is already focused by the time the screen activates).
If I flip the camera screen side down while it's having trouble focusing, the focus may catch and actually work.
I don't think this is normal.
