Ok So i have 2 micro sd cards one 8GB and one 32GB. I had recently just bought the 32GB one to give myself a good amount of space but unfortunately they both just stopped working all together. Basically one day my GS3 just began rejecting my 32GB card so i attempted to format it on my computer with a usb adapter, i tried both windows and mac os trying a range of programs but it just won't format. I even tried to format it using CWM but it can't mount it. but i don't think its fried because i just got it and it was working fine for like 2 - 3 weeks...so then i put my 8GB card in for 2 days and same thing...can't format or erase or mount on android...i've searched all over the web and need help cuz at this point i feel like my phone is destroying SD cards.
And one last piece on info if it helps I'm running the task AOKP 4.1.1 rom with their latest release and their latest O/C Kernel and clockwork mod touch on an AT&T Galaxy s3
please help as soon as possible

Yeah, this happens to me too. Reboot, let the phone say the card is damaged, open the back case while the phone is on, remove and re-insert sdcard and that should solve your problems.

If you are using windows try using the Command prompt. You will need to select the volume of the sd cards then delete it. I beleive they will become as RAW disks where you will have create them as new disks from disk management.

Open up an admin command prompt, then type 'diskpart' it'll start the utilitiy in command prompt. Then type 'list volume' it'll show volumes 0 through ~8 or so depending on how many you have. Once you know the number that is associated with your sdcard volume, then type 'select volume x' x being the number of your volume. Then type 'delete volume'
After that go into disk management and find your sdcard. It'll say unallocated. Right mouse click and create new simple volume.

Download the SD Card Formatter and try to format your card using that tool; see if that works. I made the mistake of formatting my brand-new SanDisk 64GB microSD card, which worked perfectlyin my Galaxy S III prior to that, and it wouldn't work afterwards. I tried all different methods of formatting & formatting programs to no avail. As soon as I used this program, my card worked like a charm in my phone again!
Good luck!
Dennis
Ive tried that and many other formatting programs but none of them work

Hi All
i have just purchased a 64gb microSDXC memory card driect from Amazon, to replace my 32gb card that was full, here is my problem, i have copied the contents of my old card onto my pc, put the new card into the phone and formatted it. then took it out and placed it into the pc, copied the files from the pc to the phone.
But when i put the new card in the phone and power it up, the phone starts up then i get the symbol of the sd card in the top left saying its checking it for errors, then the phone freezes up, loads of messages come up about things stopped working like settings, internet & other apps.
the phone then goes into a kind of reboot and then comes back on but then freezes again!
i have put the card into the pc and run check disk but no errors were found?
Please can someone help me with this, otherwise i wasted my money.
I am rooted and also running directory bind.
Thanks
Pete

Thanks I'll try in a bit, will report back, otherwise I'm going to ring Sandisk to see what they have to say, I've checked on their site and it says the card is compatible with the note 2

It's formatted as exFAT
There is a known incompaibility.
The answer is in this thread.

And not to complain or anything, but that thread that has all the answers was 2 threads below this one on the forum list.
Just format it to FAT32. You get better speeds that way anyways. My 64GB gets better benchmark scores with FAT32 versus exFAT

I have scandisk class 10 SD card 64 GB.
its formatted using the note 8 device (exFAT).
Whenever I try to download a file or copy a file in note 8 to the SD. It fails and reboots my device. knowing that reading from the SD is perfect. I can play music and movies from SD with no issues.
the only way I can transfer files to the SD if I connect the SD to the PC directly.
I am not sure if this is an issue with Note 8 or SD. please help!
Mine does the same thing. Ive tried formatting in exfat and fat32, didnt help. It writes fine to an old 16gb class 4 card ive got but not the 64gb. Sucks but at least it reads fine

I am not using any custom Roms. And i formatted my sandisk ultra 64gb more than three times but the same issue keeps happening. I also tried to find other apps to transfer movies and music files from Iinternal memory to sd but that didn't help. I can't even download directly to my sd. It reboots my note 8 if I try to download or transfer files to my sd.
Any suggestions?

I'm afraid nothing beyond painfully obvious ones - trying with another similar card, trying the card on any other device supporting exfat (if ok, this would provide definitive proof that card is ok), trying on freshly installed latest ROM, trying with the same card formatted in fat32.

It seems like this is the last resort. I will reformat my note 8 and try again. I also forgot to mention, that few weeks ago I was able to transfer one 800 mb file but this stopped happening. So it seems like there is not enough memory to transfer although I tried clearing the memory.
I will let you know if this reformatting the note 8 will fix the problem.

I am having the same issue as well. I try to move files from my internal too my external card and device reboots. I have the SanDisk 64GB card as well, it works fine in my S4. Could it be a software issue on the Samsung side?

Nah.....no error messages.......I think the card is just shot.......I formatted it, 3 times (ExFat), ran a chkdsk, and the files that should have been deleted magically appeared? The card is dead.......I ran everything from Swiss Knife and DskChk to Hp and SanDisk Drive software....and finally Paragon. All formats: Fat32, NTFS, EXFat.......They all get to 99% and stop. I can't erase anything from the Card and I can't add anything.
On the optimistic side, it could have been worse....I could have lost all the information that was on it.....I was able to copy it to my laptop. Oh well, Thanks!1 Tube517 and Phoneturf for the ideas.....cue the trumpet/bugle......

Gave you tried repartitioning and formatting using Linux? I run my own repair business and have had a lot of luck using Linux to recover disks that windows sees as hopelessly corrupted.
Also, from windows, tried running the "chkdsk /f" command on the drive?
Just throwing stuff out there lol. I'm with you and have trouble giving up.

Ok if you want the stuff off of it, then search for some kinda program that'll pull the info off. (Any SD card recovery)
My friend erased his card from a camera once but needed the files later. I brought it home ran card recovery on it. Took awhile for the process to finish but pulled all the files up. Even tho the card was blank??
Any type of SD card recovery will do it!! It also quirks on flash drives and other things as well...
