The N7100 Charger hisses (only audible when you place your ear close to the charger) whenever connected to the wall outlet; removing the charger, the charger continues for another 2-3 seconds before actually silencing. Is this normal?

Yes, that's perfectly normal. That's the sound made by capacitors inside the charger. Unless it gets so loud you can hear it from 25 meters - there's no need to worry.
Thanks!

I don't think is normal. You need to send for RMA. No harm exchange for a new
charger.

No mine also does a bit like grinding something or like a juicer heard from far away

My charger makes a hissing sound too and it would suddenly stop hissing if you unplugged it. Tried the charger that came from the Galaxy Tab which is also the same as our rated voltage, current, power and it does not produce a hissing sound.
Its perfectly normal
My previous phone's charger used to hiss to. This sound occurs mostly when the battery is up to 100% or close. Don't know the science behind it though...
No it is irrespective to everything.

Anyone else have a high pitch squeal coming from their OEM charger when its not connected to the phone? When its connected to the phone it doesn't squeal. I'm not sure if its a faulty charger or some BS way to get you to unplug your charger from the wall when its not being used. Very annoying !

Mine seems to be absolutely silent...
i got it aswell you're fine, but i agree, it's annoying...
I know it happened to some others but could not find the post. While im charging my nexus, there is a whistle sound that can be heard, this happens when im using a Samsung car charger, but with others, it was reported as wall charger too I think. Can this damage phone? It charges fine, and this doesn't happen, or I never noticed when charging via usb or at home

It's probably the cheap capacitors in the power supply. No worries.

Happens to me to, its the cheap usb/charger samsung supplied, I use a dedicated usb charger from a previous phone with no problems, hard to sleep with the hissing next to your ear.
My home charger was whining last night prior to me charging in the phone. That was the first time I've heard it before. Kinda freaked me out cuz I was getting ready for bed.

Does anyone else's charger make a high pitch noise when it is plugged in? Same noise if phone is charging and if not connected. Mine has done this since day one no matter where the charger is plugged into in my house. I haven't noticed it elsewhere but there is usually more ambient noise other places I go. I've never heard a charger make noise before and just wondering if this is a defect that is going to burn my house down.

Mine does if the phone isn't plugged in. I plug my phone in and it stops.

Same here. I meant to clarify and say that it does it when the phone is plugged in but only after the phone has reached full charge and stops charging.

my charger does the same... but I use my PC to charge my phone... only used the adapter twice...

Mind does (well, 'did') the exact same thing. I threw it out and bought the powergen version on amazon. no more crazy high pitched whines. Was driving me out of my mind until I discovered it.

I noticed that my Nexus charger makes noise when it's in the wall with my phone unplugged.
The sqeaky sound goes away when i plug in my phone.
Is anybody else experiencing this?
I'm going back to the store tomorrow for a replacement.

You actually ever came across a charger that never does any noise?

well, every charger i had was silent or at least never make a big noise like the cheap samsung one..a little noise can be normal for a charger, but hey the samsung one does a very high frequency noise..
never happened with other charger, because usually it is plugged near my bed..the first night i plugged the samsung charger i noticed it soon..
anyway it seems to happen with about every samsung wall traver charger of every phone..btw i "solved" by just plug the charger when i have to charge the phone..
I have the exact same issue. I have a socket with an on/off switch on my night stand table that I switch on/off when I need to use the charger. It's mostly to get rid of the high pitched noise though. And yes it disappears when you plug your phone in.
Mine even makes a 'discharging' squeak noise when I pull it right out of the wall socket after letting it squeak for a while. It's probably the capacitors inside charging/discharging. No harm, but annoying.

Hi Everyone,
This happens every now and then - wondering if anyone is seeing the same thing.
The scenario is this:
My phone will be on my desk, charging. Notification light is blinking showing it is charging.
Phone suddenly wakes up, showing the lockscreen. Charging stops, as if the power usb isn't connected.
I have to then plug/unplug the power to get it to start charging again.
This is happening with a 1 amp charger I always used to charge my Note 1 - it's the one I use at work.

You have to use the charger provided with the note 2.

I don't see why this would be true. I was wondering if you need a minimum amperage to charge the phone.
But most of the time, it charges up just fine, outside of the occasional interrupt.
It also charges up in my car charger.

Good luck.

same happens with my s3. actually started when it got the official JB update.
thing is; I always use its original charger...
fullwipe didn't help.
It seems the beast Is lowering the amount lt pulls to the available ampera ge and one step under that. This could explain the situation I guess.

There have been numerous cases reported here where the usb cable was loose in the socket due to the way the bezel protrudes, preventing full seating of the plug in the socket. Try jiggling the cable while charging and see if it interrupts.
If so, you may have to shave off some plastic from the usb plug to allow it to completely seat.

Wow..same thing happen to me. I thought im the only one with this problem. Im using my old htc charger 1A + original note 2 cable charger. So what did i do, i try to change the cable with others htc brand micro usb cable which i buy later. Problem solve!!
Not sure what is the real problem..is it the 1A current not enough for battery 3100mA charging, or the original cable charger which suppose for 2A flow is not suitable for 1A flow??

after switching to 2A chargers, this problem has never reoccurrred.
