Anyone else have a high pitch squeal coming from their OEM charger when its not connected to the phone? When its connected to the phone it doesn't squeal. I'm not sure if its a faulty charger or some BS way to get you to unplug your charger from the wall when its not being used. Very annoying !

I know it happened to some others but could not find the post. While im charging my nexus, there is a whistle sound that can be heard, this happens when im using a Samsung car charger, but with others, it was reported as wall charger too I think. Can this damage phone? It charges fine, and this doesn't happen, or I never noticed when charging via usb or at home

It's probably the cheap capacitors in the power supply. No worries.

Happens to me to, its the cheap usb/charger samsung supplied, I use a dedicated usb charger from a previous phone with no problems, hard to sleep with the hissing next to your ear.
My home charger was whining last night prior to me charging in the phone. That was the first time I've heard it before. Kinda freaked me out cuz I was getting ready for bed.

Does anyone else's charger make a high pitch noise when it is plugged in? Same noise if phone is charging and if not connected. Mine has done this since day one no matter where the charger is plugged into in my house. I haven't noticed it elsewhere but there is usually more ambient noise other places I go. I've never heard a charger make noise before and just wondering if this is a defect that is going to burn my house down.

Mine does if the phone isn't plugged in. I plug my phone in and it stops.

Same here. I meant to clarify and say that it does it when the phone is plugged in but only after the phone has reached full charge and stops charging.

my charger does the same... but I use my PC to charge my phone... only used the adapter twice...

Mind does (well, 'did') the exact same thing. I threw it out and bought the powergen version on amazon. no more crazy high pitched whines. Was driving me out of my mind until I discovered it.

INFO:
Yesterday the screen was completely unusable, it looked like it was not calibrated (like the old qtek's and htc's) and was not only unresponsive but also very slow, so it did click where and when you didnt want.
CONCLUSION:
after some time I realized and was able to duplicate it when the phone was connected to the wall charger thru the USB cable.
Gotta say im using a really cheap wall charger USB connection because the one from the box is not working. (do have any idea why is this?)
In some threads, it also says it is a common issue in SGS2 but no one says anything about SGN.
Do you have the same issue?
read your user manual. It states this there. Did you watch that xda video when you joined?

I know nothing about this issue, but if I were you I'd stop using that charger immediately. If that's the only time it happens the Nexus might be getting over 5.0v from the charger.

thanks, what video when I joined? back in 07 ?
Had same problem w/ cheap charger. It would be all funky touch screen. This happens to most of my other phones too w/ that same charger (Nexus One, Nexus S, G2X).
+1
Also happened with my sgs, so i bought another charger. An official charger. Not that expensive.
I have the same issue
Hi guys, sorry for the revive, but I'm having the same issue as the OP but with both official usb cable and wall charger that came with the phone. Is there any way to fix it? Or should I get another official charger?
Its a voltage issue between the charger and phone. Its been that way since android began.

Didn't hear anything about any solution rather than buying a new charger, it doesn't cost more than 15 €

Thanks for the response. I feel kind of dissapointed because everything is brand new out of the box. I guess I'll get another charger then...
I've just had a pretty long drive to take my son to the zoo.
I usually don't charge my phone in the car but because I only had 50% battery left I plugged in the car charger while I used Google navigation...
I had the charger plugged in the entire way and when I got there the battery had dropped by around 15%, so basically the navigation was killing the battery quicker than the car charger could charge it up.
Is that normal??? My screen brightness was on around 60%
Thanks for replies

Well, yes its normal because most likely your car charger is a USB car charger, which charges slower than an AC charger. If you had a custom kernel, and had fast USB charge, then this wouldn't be a problem because it would charge fast enough.

I've had battery drop while charging with navigation before, not nearly that bad though.

Sorry to sound dumb but i dont quite know what you mean there.
Its a straight charger from the ciggerette lighter to the micro USB port. It doesnt convert from the cig charger to a usb/micro usb cable

Well, it means its charging with USB power (Which is about 500 mah.) and sometimes it can't keep up with the phone using power and charging it at the same time. However, if you get a custom kernel with a "Fast USB Charging" option you can make it charge just as fast as an AC wall charger. Therefore, solving your problem with the dropping battery while charging.

The N7100 Charger hisses (only audible when you place your ear close to the charger) whenever connected to the wall outlet; removing the charger, the charger continues for another 2-3 seconds before actually silencing. Is this normal?

Yes, that's perfectly normal. That's the sound made by capacitors inside the charger. Unless it gets so loud you can hear it from 25 meters - there's no need to worry.
Thanks!

I don't think is normal. You need to send for RMA. No harm exchange for a new
charger.

No mine also does a bit like grinding something or like a juicer heard from far away

My charger makes a hissing sound too and it would suddenly stop hissing if you unplugged it. Tried the charger that came from the Galaxy Tab which is also the same as our rated voltage, current, power and it does not produce a hissing sound.
Its perfectly normal
My previous phone's charger used to hiss to. This sound occurs mostly when the battery is up to 100% or close. Don't know the science behind it though...
No it is irrespective to everything.
