Don't think so. It would require a level of dev support that we dont have.

Anything can be ported, is it worth the time is the real question. They share no hardware, which is generally the first requirement to any porting project.

I mean in theory, it could work. I same os we could do it. I maybe il play with it

Hey,
i came across this awesome ROM a few days ago and sice then tracked the thread over at Nexus 4 forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344285
This is a review of AlienDroid
Since that ROM is a greatly developed, stable and original ROM i ask myself if someone is interested in porting that to pur maguros to get some fresh wind?

Without source is quite hard, i mean with it should be easy to do. Try to ask to the dev about source
Will do

seems to be nothing more than Cyanogenmod with Halo, 4.3 app(s) and that Alienmods app
He also has some of his own tweaks in the build as well I really hope he releases source I am running this on my wife's nexus 4 and its a stable and yet very fast rom

I doubt it, I only see log entries for nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 running 4.4 - Though now I am seeing slightly different builds i.e. KRT10F instead KRT10C
Nexus 7 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 10 4.4 KRT13
Nexus 5 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 4 (Svelte test mode) 4.4 KRT08C

My two cents...I would be very surprised if we don't get 4.4 officially. It is technically a minor version bump.

...Not as minor as 4.2 -> 4.3. UI drastically changed (not just the launcher) and they decided to make a universally available Launcher called Google Experience, so you see Google is determined to make KitKat a large step forward.
But yeah, based on this point (universal, unified experience) and Google's saying of "making the best experience for everyone", I can say that we're going to get KitKat in one way or another (I don't personally care if Google decides no official release, AOSP is always there). Plus, who said we need 3.4 or even 3.8 kernels to run it (any RELIABLE sources)? Many older devices run JB 4.1 and even 4.2 nicely with 2.6.xx kernels. Many 3.4, 3.8 and even 3.1x features are being backported too.

I'm surprised that you're this delusional, personally I'm planning to rollback to 4.1, the recent versions of android is just too choppy for my liking, ram management is horrible too.

Well, I have had nothing but a well-running Nexus on 4.3 for the last little while, so it really sucks to hear you're having problems. I appreciate a discussion here, but starting off a reply by calling someone "delusional" seems a bit rude and harsh, no?

Look i don't know about Linux Kernel, etc..
But i just saw that the 3.8 is officially discontinued.
3.4 is continued until October 2014.
So i think the next Kernel version for Android will be the 3.10 (long term: until September 2015) not 3.8.
By the way....a Nexus 5 with 3.10 kernel would be pretty nice. But it seem it will be 3.4.
Source
I remember when 3.0 was released (after the 2.6.39), Linus Torvalds said exactly this:
"So what are the big changes? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. Sure, we have the usual two thirds driver
changes, and a lot of random fixes, but the point is that 3.0 is
*just* about renumbering, we are very much *not* doing a KDE-4 or a
Gnome-3 here. No breakage, no special scary new features, nothing at
all like that. We've been doing time-based releases for many years
now, this is in no way about features. If you want an excuse for the
renumbering, you really should look at the time-based one ("20 years")
instead."
I post that, only to say that sometimes numbers mean nothing..3.4 is a stable kernel, there isn't a big difference that you can see in the daily use with 3.10..really
Lets pray, for kitkat on our phone..!!!

I thought the new nexus an kitkat would have been launched by now, everything has gone quiet now an the hype has gone, iOS7 is keeping me amused for now, the kitkat screenshots look like google got a lot of their inspiration from apple an iOS7, just hope the nexus 5 is as good if not better than iPhone 5s.

It basically just came out, so give it time. We've got root and someone has given LOKI our aboot and device info so we're waiting on that for the moment.
Well no idé about the future, but prob won't be to many roms for it. But I don't really feel any need for it either, on my phone I always use custom roms but on this tablet I'm happy with stock.

you can root, debloat with titanium, and customize with wanam exposed using xposed installer.
Yeah i guess so even though aosp aokp roms give that little more fluidity to the all UI..can someone please tell me how this tab handles reading editing PDF files? Thanks

Yeah, we're really making strides with such a small number of interested people. Now we just need a custom recovery and we can get working on rooted stock ROMs and CM.
that would be sweet, i think custom rom scene is what i love most about android, most of the times oem's overcharge their devices pointlessly or too much and this makes the experience not fluid as it should be

....It's only been a couple of days.
I have returned my g pad and got a refund. It seems to be all devices have the blue line issue so I think I shall wait until LG sort this out. I know its not a big issue atm but the blue line means something in the hardware is wrong and so could get worse. This means I won't be looking to build anything for the device anymore.

You can't even notice it. And in comparison to the awful Tab 3 I'd rather be missing half my screen on this tablet than get that piece of crap.
As with every "issue" with consumer electronics, people always complain and make bigger deals out of everything, especially on forums. Yes there's a blue hint on the side of the screen occasionally, but unless you're looking for it (like most people try to do) you won't notice it. And even if you do it's not a big deal. It's not nearly as noticeable as light bleed.

Do WE or do YOU need cyanogenmod?
Personally I think Cyanogenmod is somehow overrated. I always had issues with their roms on different mobile phones and I think that private people make better roms at all.
Cyanogenmod is a cool alternative but not very good.

I also like Cyanogen a lot, but to be honest I don't think it is happening. We had a person developing it, but he sold his P8000, so development is dead now. The good news is that nowadays there are plenty MT6753 phones, and MAYBE someone savvy can port a Cyanogen ROM from another phone to our P8000, but again, it might never happen.
As of now, I am using Eragon which happens to be a pretty badass ROM. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you to try it already!
I ve tryed all, now i have erano 7.5 but if anyone do a porting of cyano its impossible create new ROM cyano based without normal cm, but in 1/2 a small team porta miui ROM for p8000

CyanogenMod* is the only reason why I'm still using Android. You get the latest OS updates really quickly in contrast to OEMs who need months to patch their firmwares IF they do it.
*also applies to other custom ROMs
