Hi friends, already most of you might know this app but I thought of sharing it anyway. Gotta say, if there is one app on the play store that is worth all your money, it's gotta be tasker. Tasker helps you automate things. It saves a lot of time and makes your phone a stand out. Typically, it can do almost anything that you can think of. I will share the beginners' guide video links from YouTube shortly so that this OP doesn't heap into a giant. The video tutorials will convey you what exactly tasker is and what it can really do. Believe me, it's freaking awesome ! After watching the videos, I would want you guys to post the different profiles that you've created using this amazing app. So, let's make our phone " SMART " !!!
Find tasker here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=tasker+app

It doesn't consume battery at all if you know how to use it in the right way. We all actually can't imagine how automated can Android be with the tasker app. Check out the part three of the video series. You can see how tasker can do things & you'll be amazed.

I have set up three profiles. One is the music profile that launches the music app + keeps the volume at full blast on plugging in the ear phone and brings the volume back to zero & kills the app on unplugging it. The other two profiles help me keep my phone silent during the college hours automatically. Phone remains silent from 9:20 in the morning to 1:50 in the noon & then goes back to normal mode all by itself after the scheduled time except for Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I have to attend my labs and my phone goes silent and then back on to the normal mode like before but on these days, it is silent from 9:20 in the morning to 5:40 in the evening. So I needn't worry about switching between silent and normal modes all along !! Everything happens automatically ! How awesome is that !!!

I think no one is ever interested in amazing stuffs like these. Everyone's busy switching from ROM to ROM a day. But let me remind you, by doing this, some where we are not at all making use of our phone. I don't mean any offence towards using roms as I use them myself, but let's face it, it's some how true. The phone is for us, we are not for the phone. By doing all this, I ain't trying to gain any attention/being famous on xda but just the lack of HOW AMAZING THIS THREAD COULD BE IF EVERY ONE MINGLES let's me down. Please share your profiles and other tasker stuffs and help the thread grow friends...

Hi, i'm searching for an app to record my dreaming's words. I would like it to record only when someone talks, is there any chance to find something useful to me?
haha i know what you mean! a voice recorder activated by voice so we dont have 6 hours of audio to look through
The only thing I could find while sniffing around was an app that does sound triggered recording, but only by dialing your voicemail number and recording it to that.
Sounds like a simple enough app to write though, perhaps there's a sympathetic Dev out there that could knock up an app for you.
Lol nice idea is there anythin out there like this? Please let us know if ya can find somethin worth to try

I know what you mean.
My mother will telling me that I can answer her questions when I am asleep, but I can never remember doing that.
What you could do is just use a recorder, and record everything during your sleep. Then copy that sound file to your PC and use cool edit to open it, and look through the sound waves. When you see some big spikes on the waves go to them and see if youre saying anything. Might be kinda creepy though, who knows what kind of sounds you'll pick up lol
RL Watcher , it's in the Market.
That said, not too sure if the microphone is going to be good enough (Thanks to Samsungs settings, background sound is noisy!).
Maybe you should change your Title a bit to attract attention. You are looking at an app that can switch on the voice recording when the decibel level increases beyond pre-defined level.
Any ideas?
PS : This can be helpful in a lot of other situations too. You just need to know the minimum decibel level.
Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.
I can access your mind through your dreams using my Android.
I have done a little RnD and made a little progress.
Whenever there is a sound a number is incremented per second of sound.
It works with my galaxy S mic very well.
THERE IS NO INTERFACE AT ALL
I want you to test it.
There is no fear of any harm.
The screen stays on as long as the app is active.
But as you may or may not know a black screen on the SGS is an off screen.
The way to work the app is
Install the app.
Set the phone down on your table/nightstand.
Open the app
Don't click anything
Go to sleep (you don't really need to sleep just speak in intervals in a moderately quiet room/simulate your bed room/simulate your sleep voice)
Hopefully make noise in your sleep. Not very loud noise is needed.
Wake up
Press the menu key...you may have to wait a fraction of a sec.
A notification will give you 2 numbers.
Tell me those numbers.(You can round off NO 2 if you want to)
If first number is > 1 then you are successful else not successful.
EXIT THE APP WITH THE BACK BUTTON
If you exit with another way then you may have to restart the phone to get your mic working fine again(stupid mic implementation of mic on SGS).
Test it and tell me how it goes.

I don't know about that for now.
The app is still in its alpha stage.
We can keep it in a proposed list of features.
Right now the app only lists number of seconds you have been making noise.
The SGS has a weird implementation of AudioRecoding
I am still going through the docs.
Once I manage to implement the recorder, more features will be added.
Please reply with the values you are getting from the app.
Thanks
Gonna test the app now
EDIT: Crashes immediatly on Cyanogen Mod
Hi guys! My name is Mirarchi and i'm an italian software developer that comes from Windows programming. Recently i bought a fantastic Galaxy Nexus and i started a project called "ISeeYou". This program recognizes your face while you seeing the phone keeping on the screen. When you don't look the phone, the screen will go off after a specified timeout. So this is similar to a popular app integrated in the new Galaxy S III.
Developed for device targeting Android SDK rel 9-14 (Android 2.3 and later)
No 3rd party libs. Uses only integrated system libraries(so it SHOULD work on every Android 2.3/4.0 based device).
Detectes the face, not the eyes(for now).
Customizable timeouts and app starts.
Requirements for using the app
Android 2.3 or later.
Front facing camera that detects your face. You can use the integrated Camera app to verify if the camera can detect your face (this app uses the same face detection system)
Known Issues
While using the app you can encounter the "Failed to connect to camera service" error. This is ok because you can't use the camera while the service is scanning your face. You can simply resolve by retrying to open the Camera app.
Cheers!
When the app detects your face, an "eye" icon will appear on the left side of the status bar such as a notification.
Enjoy the app and let me know the results.
Suggestions are also appreciated.
NOTE: UNISTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE APPLICATION OTHERWISE YOU CAN HAVE STRANGE ERRORS!
Edit 20120616: Upped a new version that should be compatible with devices other than the GNex. Now the app doesn't use constantly the camera, but now polls the camera every N seconds where N is a custom parameter. Also you can specify the maximum scan rate that is the maximum time that the camera is occuped by the ISeeYouService. In the next few days i will releasea FREE version with reduced features. Enjoy!!
Edit 20120617: Released the "free" version based on build 20120616. This version hasn't the 5 minutes limit, but there is no possibility to change settings. This will be available in the "PRO" version and i will sell it in the next few days. Stay tuned!
Edit 20120617-2: New version available! Added a persistent notify icon that links directly to the app. Now when the service is running, will show a "closed eye" icon. When the service detects your face, the eye will "blink" for a split second. Now the service runs in foreground mode. This will prevent undesidered closes of the app by the android system and should solve the FC issues. Cheers!!
Edit 20120617-3: Link for PRO version. Enjoy!!
Edit 20120621: v1.2 available for download on google play. Cheers!
Edit 20120630: v1.4 available for download! Added the exception list feature. With this mode you can "Blind" the i seeyouservice for certain applications. The keepOn button will let you to keep the screen on for exceptions apps. Also now you should be able to run the service on 2.3 devices. Enjoy!
Edit 20121021: v1.4.3 available for download! Enjoy and sorry for delay!
I look forward to this. What help do you need to get it out?
Thanks subvertz, for now no help is needed, but your attention is very appreciated! I only need to wait that google activates my developer account for distributing the app on play store.
Why don't you post the app in the xda developers for testing and people can provide you feedback on the same.
This way you will help the community n also gain some beta testers for your app.

Sorry dude, fc was my fault. Upping a version that corrects this bug.
For the "eye" icon it should appear when detects your face.
Firstly try with the default android camera application to find the optimal conditions (distance and lighting) to ensure that the device can recognize your face.
Wouldnt it waste the battery constantly checking for the face?
It would seem better to launch the service when the screen is going to time out, check for the face and if seen reset the timer

So is this just like SmartStay from Samsung's Galaxy S3?
You should look up the code for that app and see if you can get some ideas from that, I feel like that would be a better start point than coding from scratch.
Anybody know of an app that can remotely make the nexus 7 make a noise so i can find it. I know plan B can help locate it after it has gone missing, but i know (99% sure) its in my house, just not sure where
Thanks
If you do this often, you could use Tasker to make the Nexus say something like "Help me! I have fallen and can't get up" when you
send a specific message to the Nexus. This takes advance planning.
If your Nexus is currently lost - no idea. Mine makes a noise every time I get a text message or EMail.
Yeah. I always mis-place my phone and tablet, sometimes losing them for days. I tend to leave my phone on load so i can ring it but doesnt work for tablet.
I have ceberus but my trial ran out 2 days ago so i cant use that
Does anybody know if i unlock the full version online, will it register on my nexus automatically?
Thanks

The original Lookout app can sound an alarm. Or androidlost. That one is great, has many many features, and I'm pretty sure one of them is an alarm.
Cerberus will sound a loud siren if you choose to send a command via cerberusapp.com. It's not free, but I think it was one of the better apps I've purchased .

Yay multiwindow.

Contextual Awareness
(1) Page Buddy: Your phone will smartly predict what you intend to do according to your actions. For example, when you plug in your earphones, the device automatically opens up a page with the music player.
(2) Contextual Menu: When you list up apps, you can now choose to see the most frequently used ones first. Especially convenient when you’re looking through apps to find files to attach.
(3) Contextual Tag: When you take a picture on the phone, you can tag the weather, date, and place immediately.
*Enhanced Features*
(1) Multi Window: You can open two different apps at the same time into two different windows on the mobile screen.
(2) Auto Share Shot Pairing using NFC: By setting the camera to ‘Auto Share Shot’ mode, you can quickly share your photos and videos by simply tapping their GALAXY S III with other NFC and S-Beam enabled devices
(3) Reader Mode: You can easily control the size of the text on your browser! Also, you can just click the webpage to share it!
(4) Facebook Lock Ticker: The easiest way to see your Facebook News Feeds – set your phone to show it on your lock screen.
How do these new features sound? Exciting? But wait, we still got more so come back soon for part 2!
Dammit I was just about to post this. You beat me to it

Considering most of these Note II features are not even available on the T-Mobile Note II, I'm not hopeful about the prospects of Tmo ever pushing this out.

MULTIMEDIA
Paper Artist: You can make a picture like a pop artist. Change the moods of your pictures whenever you want.
Low Light Shot: It’s always tough to take pictures in dark places. So the Galaxy S III with Premium Suite has a Low-Light-Shot function.*Get your hands on one and check out the difference!
Best Face: The problem with group pictures? Somebody always, ALWAYS blinks. Well, Best Face is your solution to that. Best Face takes 5 consecutive pictures and lets you choose the best face for each person among those shots.
NEW FEATURES AND BETTER ACCESSIBILITY
Easy Mode: For first-time smartphone users and/or those who are really really, well, lazy. This function helps you set up the most five frequently used widgets on the home screen, so you don’t have to be tired of looking everywhere to find those apps.
Sound Balance: You can adjust the balance of volume one each side of earphones.
Setup Wizard: After turning on your cell phone, you can see the accessibility menu right away on the screen.
Easy Snap: With ‘talk back’ and ‘face detection’ on your settings menu, the Galaxy S III tells you how many faces it can detect on the camera preview.

None of those apps will work without messing with the Android OS to circumvent the restriction on recording calls. They have made it very hard to get around. All these lame apps end up doing is turning on your speaker and trying to record from the ambient sound, which is really really crappy
Anyone figure this out. I found a few kernel hacks on xda, but the threads are all a year or two old and the links no longer point to existing download locations. Major thanks to this forum by the way! Couldn't have rooted my phone without you, and without root it was a paper weight after hardware keys died out.

I once had a good call recording addon when I used Jedi mindtrick ROM. I don't think you need the ROM to do it because it was from the Xposed Framework app. I activated and installed the app then scrolled down the downloads list and was able to find a phone recorder. When I installed it and reset the phone, it added an option to record phone calls to the phone menu. It saved the files to the SD card and they sound legit.
You probably know more about this stuff. Hope it helps!
