High RAM usage

Lately I've noticed my battery life draining fast. So when I check my RAM usage its always around 1 GB at any given time. Is something wrong here? Ive removed most bloatware apps, I have no Widgets running and maybe 5 apps I downloaded. Nor am I running any live wallpaper. Just seems like a lot of RAM for not doing much with my phone..

[Q]Is there an app or script that will clear RAM when screen goes off?

Looking for an app or script that will clear ram automatically when screen goes off. Thank you

Advanced task killer pro does that. If you're rooted, you can use greenify which pretty much does the same thing but hibernates the app as well.

No need to do that honestly.
You'll only use up more battery clearing out the ram every time.
Android does a really good god in ram management.
Greenify is a good alternative.
It doesn't clear them off ram but it hibernates apps from running in the background that would also consume battery.

If it's not running then it's not using ram...

Yes it is... Unless you close it completely. Random Access Memory is that.... Places apps apps in memory to later take them out to run, which makes it a faster process rather than closing them completely and opening them again.
Greenify "hibernates" and app as in it won't run, notifications checks, automatically running, check ins or refreshing feeds to save battery, its still in ram but its not running, saving lots of battery.

Q-good app to tell what's eating up your RAM???

So I have previously installed a bad ass launcher after like 5 hours I began to notice my RAM was being used more than normal. It will be 1.4 out of my 1.75gb of ram on the phone. I deleted it hit "clear memory" and problem seemed to be gone. Until now it seems something else is chewing up my RAM and I have no idea what because I cant find an app to tell me. Looked under "application manager" to see what's up and everything seems fine there. I dont have alot of applications installed. Only 1 game COD-zombies. Can anyone help me out?

Hold down the home button, select the pie/memory icon and look at active apps.
RAM manager pro works awesome. Right away noticed difference especially on the option to play hard on memory games like real boxing.

Settings>Application Manager>Running. Shows everything that's running and eating up ram. Don't forget to click the cached process as it has its own list of things using up ram.

Ram usage always over 75% is this normal?

Hi guys, I'm running the official cyanogenmod 10.2 nightlies... I'm getting over 75% memory consumption at all times.. My storage is over 40% free so I don't have problems there...
The issue is that every time I'm in an app and I press the home button, my launcher has to restart (probably because of low memory . I'm using nova launcher)
Any suggestions of what could be eating up my memory?.. This much consumption after I clear all apps from memory can't be normal...
Any suggestions for any other light ROMS that use less memory?
Thanks in advance

If you're really looking for more memory, try a "deeper" task killer app capable of killing system apps, e.g. Advanced Task Killer Pro (though task killers are altogether not suggested as said by other people).
I also use Autostarts to prevent random apps from starting up when it's not supposed to (Greenify should also do the trick).
With the help of just these two tiny apps, I get 500MB+ free RAM on boot (CM10.2, Franco r392).
Oh, and nothing kills an app better and deeper than a Force Stop in Settings-Apps. If an app persists in task killers (e.g. Fused Location in 4.2.x ROMs), just Force Stop it.

This is the way Android is supposed to work - memory is usually filled up with cached apps for better performance... However I do think there is something screwed up with memory management in recent nightlies.

Try flashing a kernel that has more free memory like Fancy Kernel or the latest Franco Kernel nightly...they both provide an extra 50MB+ of RAM which makes a HUGE difference in performance and multitasking.
Well it depends on how many apps you've opened. With no apps in recents I have a usage of 100-200 MB so I have then ~500 MB free. I am not using a taskkiller. It is better to not have a taskkiller on Android.

How do I free up ram on my s4?

My phone will not stop using so much ram. When I flash a new Roman it sits at about 700-800mb of ram but with my normal apps I'm seeing a constant usage of over a gigabyte of ram. And for some reason, even after I close all apps/kill, the ram doesn't free up much. I'm using greenery on most my apps, can't get battery stats to work tho so I can't see wake locks that I have.

Its normal.. Mine uses about 1.3 or 1.4 gigs, I don't really monitor it but I don't have battery issues
