Hello people. :cyclops:
Surely you've noticed that the current Mms.apk (e.g. in AOKP, Xylon) just contains the old Emojis. If you take a look into iOS6 or WhatsApp you will see many more of them like these in the attachment.
So, isn't it possible to add the new Emojis into the Mms.apk? I am sure it is really easy for an experienced developer.
If not, can someone post me a manual, please. In the attachment is the package with all the Emojis and the Mms.apk from AOKP (with Quick-Emoji-Button).
Regards.
It really is especially with this.. Unzip your emoji file, and then just open Mms.apk with 7zip and find the location of where the original are and drag and drop but make sure to rename them the way the originals are in the Mms.apk and just save and copy it back to your phone..

I doubt that this method works ... did you try it?
i think you have to modify some XML-files ... i don't know which files and how ...
Well if you want to replace them, yes it works just rename them to the same name. But if you want to add more like CM, then there's more to it like you said

The native keyboard contains the standard *green* emoticons by Android ... not the WhatsApp-Emojis. Correct me if i am wrong.

Hi, I not sure this can be do or not.
I want to keep stock as I want the feature Direct Call, but the problem is stock messaging miss-out support of emoji and I can't find any mod on it.
Anyone could possible make this happen? It will be kind of perfect if stock messaging support emoji.

You can change it from the emoticons key to enter key, also this isn't a flashable zip, not sure how to do one, but to install this:
1. Delete mms.apk in /system/apps
2. copy and paste new mms.apk in /system/apps
3. Set permissions
4. Reboot
Works great! Thanks!
Worked really well. Thank you!
Also for those wondering you have you enable quick emoji in the settings.

This is the only feature I was missing from aosp rom. Pop up on sms is a must. Quick question tho.
Your file is 2.7 and from aokp (cm10.1 for nexus 4) the file size is 3.1. Smaller size than aokp but somehow it lags when i open up the messages from a person. why is that?

I am not sure about the lag but the reason the file is older is because it was pulled from somebody else on this forum, they had one with facebook EMOJI and one with stock emoji. This is the stock one and in cm10 you don't have a quick emoji button option which I like but in AOKP the popup is ugly imo. Thats why the app is older.

Sorry to say, no. Here is why sir.
1. S4 is still on android 4.2 based, while Note III is android 4.3 so things will be different.
2. The layout files will be different, which is a big piece.
Dpi wont come into play, becuase they both use xxHdpi images.. so the image part should for most part be fine to drag into Launcher3.apk. Not a guareentee all will be fine.. but should.
My suggestion..
1. If you have Root, have Nova or Apex loaded and make sure works.
2. With one of the above running, you can rename your launcher3.apk
3. I would only drag images from s4 launcher into Note III launcher.
4. Replace luancher apk on Note III change permission, reboot.
5. change back to TW Launcher..
With us just getting Root. You gotta give us a bit to get things going..

You need to have:
Android SDK
A graphic program like Gimp, Paint.Net, Photoshop
Apktool Manager
Java 6 and/or 7
That would be a start. Then you need to learn how to decompile Android Apk's

The SecLauncher4.apk is the correct apk to decompile to get to labels for the launcher. I am not sure where those are at, haven't themed the Seclauncher since two versions ago..
I might suggest Nova whch will allow you to do things as well.
I snagged the NotoColorEmoji.ttf from the leaked firmware since i can't stand Googles mutant emojis. I am using this on my phone running Super Nexus 4.0, but in theory it should work on any 4.4.X-rom.
Just extract the ttf from the zip and drop it in your /system/fonts/-directory with the proper permissions, -rw-r--r--. Reboot and wipe cache just in case.
Backup just in case and once again, the zip is NOT for flashing! Feel free to make a flashable zip from it, i have no idea how to make them.
Enjoy.

I, like you, dislike the "mutant" emoji Google has forced upon us, but these emoji are substantially smaller. Do you know how to make them bigger? Preferably the same size as Google's?
P.S. The best way to do this is to just rename Samsung's emoji to AndroidEmoji.ttf, and rename AndroidEmoji.ttf to AndroidEmojiOld.ttf after placing it in the fonts folder in the system directory.

I've actually been wanting to change them back to the old ones, which I prefer, but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I assume because I haven't found the source file yet? Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
