Hello,
I have flashed many roms but every rom has a few bugs. So i decided to go back to the stock roms. Does anyone know a fully working stock (based) rom with much memory left. I dont use odin, i use cwm 5. Gapps not required in the rom but does anyone have gapps for that stock rom with only google play?
-sorry for bad english-

Yes but that is a .tar file isnt it? Then you need to use odin and i dont use odin. Is there a flashable version of that stock rom?

enhanced236 is a custom ROM for the Galaxy Gio, baseda the firmware S5660XXKTI (March 2012 - Countries Norse). Attempts to (and we believe) that maintains the functionality and response of the official ROM, by adding a 'present' to improve the quality and use. It is fast, smooth and stable.
Installation :
One. Install a version of ClockworkMod that supports the EXT4 filesystem (If you have not done this step, we recommend version 5.0.2.6 or 5.0.2.7)
2. Place the file. Zip on the SD card and use the "Install zip from SD-Card
3. During installation, the question will arise to format the partitions and make wipe. If the current file system is RFS, is mandatory accept this option. If the system is already EXT4, it is recommended to clean any files accept other ROMs; (Note: This does not make any change in the contents of the SD card, so it is safe to do this format, provided that any backups who may wish to have been made)
4. Reset;

Thnx will try it

Hi.
If i have some EXT based rom and i want to go back to stock RFS based, can I just flash stock rom with odin. Or I have to reformat before somehow?
Thank You!
Flash with odin and it will format the system to rfs for you, no need to do it yourself

Hi! I have a question. Is it possible to make some kind of super reset to Galaxy Gio so it will look like out of the box if i need to take it back to the shop? I hope some one can answer my question.
W/ best,
Jyrx.
Factory reset - resets all to default.
Clear cache, dalvik etc, then flash a stock rom if you have flashd roms before, delete superuser.apk if you had root acces ... Stock rom flash required if you used clockworkmod recovery and custom roms or boot.img..

Yes , if you flash a stock rom via odin, you can see ut also writes recovery.rfs or something like that.

Flash an official firmware by ODIN and your phone will be like first time - Stock Recovery, no root, etc.
Hi guys, i want flash Cyanogen Mod 7.2 on my phone, but I need Clockwork Recovery Mod First. In the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650), under 5.0.2.7, there is options for either ext4 or ext4+rfs. I am currently using stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread, which one should i use?
Ext4 + rfs
Sent from my GT-S5660
Thank you very much! If i may ask, what is the reasoning behind that? Also, i am looking to install Cyanogen mod 7.2. Should i install the ext4 formatter? It says
"If you from stock / custom rom based on rfs filesystem, u must flash ext4-formatter.zip before flash CyanogenMod. Otherwise you'll stuck on android logo because it cant mount rfs filesystem!"
Does this apply to me?

I know how to flash a custom rom, but I really don't want to flash it yet, because I'm (patiently ) waiting until CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5660-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta5 is ready.
And I agree that would probably fix it, but only because the system partition get's formatted to EXT4.
I just want to be able to backup my rooted RFS stockrom before flashing a custom rom.
PS.
Sorry for hijjacking this topic, didn't mean to do that.

thank for your help,
at google many said that my backup file corrupt, yesterday i try until 3rd time backup, restoring and all fail, so i think corrupt it not the answer
ok thank for all your help guys
i still trying how make it work. i will share if i found the problem
CyanogenMod ROMs are in ext4 filesystem.
Stock ROMs are in rfs filesystem.
When you install CyanogenMod, your phone's internal partitions get formatted to ext4.
Problem is that CWM can format internal partitions to ext4 but not to rfs, so you cant boot your restored backup because of stock kernel failing to mount ext4 filesystem.
You can try custom kernels that are designed for stock and run in ext4 like Phiexz's kernel.
hmm, ic so other word i cannot restoring my stock rom right, because cwm not design to backup stock rom.
so this function backup and restore just for custom rom or stock rom that design for ext4.
hmm....
thank you for your information it very useful for me

Ok, so i got my stock ROM with rooted, and CWM recovery on my phone. When I started the update process, CWM asks me to install untrust zip file; then an error comes up:
E: Error in cache/fota/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
I have done this twice and the same error comes up. Can somebody let me know what is wrong? Do i have to unrooted and install original recovery? Please let me know.
Thank you

Hello,
As an update to my situation, I switch back to stock recovery. However, I still have the same problem. Then, I decide to boot into recovery and apply the update from recovery. I use the OTA update.zip file and and the update.zip file from here.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426433
I notice that the two update.zip file is different by size a little bit. I have no clue why it is not working or what I have done wrong. The ROM I am using is the original stock ROM with rooted. I want to know what I should do to update without wiping everything and flashing a new stock Jelly Bean ROM.
Thank you.
Just use Odin. Takes 10 min tops. Fool proof.

That ota is the exact one I used originally, was there a problem with it or did the file sizes just not match?
Did you check the md5?

Can you elaborate more on using Odin and which ROM to use? My OTA update.zip has a size of 335.65 MB, while the update.zip I downloaded from the thread below has a size of 334.2 MB. They have different size so I assume there is a slight different in the ROM and, thus the size.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687
Also, for using Odin, which ROM should I use? Is this the one?

Do I just flash it on top of my original stock ROM using Odin?, or do I have to wipe cache & dalvik cache? I just want a quick way to flash without having to lose all my settings and stuff. Thank you for all the noobs question. I am not used to Odin. I only know how to flash using CWM recovery.

The 334.2 one should work.
But for odin, yes thats the official unrooted stock firmware youd use.
But if you want root, I suggest you use the root66 version.

IMO,, wiping as well as formatting operations in cwm isnt necessary,, because,, when you flash a device thru odin,, the phone's cwm recovery,, even your su app,,, will be totally erased,,,
so for me,, just reflash thru odin,, and you're good to go,,,
by the way,, im from the Philippines,, but i've flashed my phone with I8150XXLM8 - Slovakia ,, and after the flashing is complete,, ive felt like im holding a brand new phone,,,
if you like,, you can choose any firmware you like from here,,
but of course,, since its your first time,, choose the one based on your region,,,
to avoid any network conflicts that you might meet ,, when you flash a stock rom other than your region-based ROM,,,,
for malaysia, i'm using i8150DXLM2
