The phone is different. If you flash the rom for the wrong phone you will have a $500 paperweight.

The other one is for the international version of the GS3. This one is for the ATT/Rogers/Bell version which has slightly different hardware like LTE, dual core vs quad core, etc. It's just a variant. But there are some differences in the ROMs. So only use the ones from this forum to ensure you don't soft or hard brick your device.

Thank goodness he asked the question, many of people have those 500 dollar paperweights because they just didn't ask. lol

had to ask...thanks guys

Just wondering, how come whenever a device first gets released every mod waits a while to add a Q & A section?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
we only add the Q&A section when the General forum is too busy, as in 5000~10000 a day or something like that i forgot
the admins do that automatically
some forums gets crazy busy, like the old i9000 and "classic" SGS2
our is the "new" SGS2

Oh ok makes sense. Will you be adding a sub-forum for the Telus version in the future?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
no, and there is no need, both phones are identical (except for the front screen Tmo logo on top)
in fact i'm using the Telus kernel on my Tmo T989
it's more stable, as the code was cleaner, the original source code released for Tmo had too much commented out codes included

Time for a Verizon GNex section?

Since the Verizon users will have different roms, I think its time to make two different sections for the Nexus. It will make it easier to browse and stop complications with new users flashing GSM roms and radios

Agreed. The build identifiers are too cryptic, and similar, for beginners to make heads or tails of without pouring a BUNCH of time into the forums.
Agreed, the Nexus S forums was set up this way as well.

i was *****ing about this earlier on g+ , since verizon released gnex the forum has been flooded out with lte stuff.
they need their own sub forum in a hurry its already a mess

There should be a seperate lte and GSM forum. If you break it up more than that, we will see less development for our devices.

I am a noob and am getting kind of lost. Not that I am not learning, but every time I search for anything, I get GSM info when I need LTE.

Yup, just do it like the Nexus S did.
Common General, Accessories, Q&A, and Apps/Theme forums but separate the development forums to LTE and GSM.
Would save a lot of bricks and headaches.

You just called a forum moderator a troll....
@AllGamer: OP is saying that the development section should be split. So there'd be a GSM and CDMA forum. Kinda like how the Nexus S forum is set (I see you on there from time to time). Nexus S & Nexus S 4G.. 4G being CDMA and the regular forum being GSM. In my opinion, I agree... just keep the General, Q&A, Accessories and Themes & Apps the same. But just add another forum for the LTE version and move all the LTE material over there. That way, people aren't flashing the wrong thing.
Agreed, the forum is flooded again with people moaning about tiny little things like the screen or MTP etc., it's annoying having to see them all over again now the LTE version has been released..

Maybe dumb quest..new to nexus

i am on the sprint version of the nexus..is it possible to flash the verizon roms on this phone? or did i mis read one of the comments on that forum ?
Just so u know this has been asked like every day. But to answer your question is no. It will brake a lot of things on your phone. Don't risk it.

ok sorry. ive just been doing a lot of reading and i must have misunderstood. i'll just stick to the sprint sub section then. thanks a lot .

Flash I9305 rom on T999

Can I flash I9305 rom on T999?
I tried flashing N7005 rom on I717 and it works.
Don't know if it works the same way here. Thanks.

That would be the fastest way to hard brick your phone. The I9305 is an international version and the phone is different from the US SGS3 variant.
Ya just simply stick to what is in your forum for your phone, never stray off without plenty of confirmations that it will flash without issue. My thoughts are if you have to ask, just stay on your forum.
Thanks. I thought it will be the same as N7005 on I747 as both are running on the same CPU, just different cellular bands.

Sorry, my fault. I thought I9305 is using Snapdragon S4 but indeed it's using Exynos.

if i install this on my galaxy s3...

hi, i am from israel and a friend of mine has an sgh-i747 and he has cm10.1 on his s3. he wants a touchwiz based rom on his device but im afraid it wont work in israel. i downloaded this: I747MVLDMF1_I747MOYBDMF1 from sammobile and it said it s unknown where its from
what if i install it on his device?
Best thing to do is go to xda developers forum and search for a rom. What carrier is the phone for?

I really wouldn't ask people RR randomly "what to do". I would ask a more specific question in the appropriate forum and wait for a reply. Even your message above isn't clear enough. You essentially want me to do the work figuring this out for you... Sry things on xda are obvious and easy if you can read and are smart. If not ... Don't do it. Have a nice day and good luck.

It sounds like what you downloaded is not going to be a rom you can flash through recovery. Only odin or what ever its called which most likely would return the phone back to how it was when the factory shipped it out.
I wouldnt flash anything that you dont know where it came from. Best thing to do is google the model number and find out if its an international version or a USA version and if there is a difference in the two. Then search the appropriate forums for a rom that he may like. Good luck and as always if you arent sure dont do it.
