[Q] flashing modems? - LG Optimus G (International)

The possibility of flashing different modems was discussed in a couple different threads and I was wondering if there was any progress on it. I am on an unlocked e971 on the Sasktel network and their LTE network goes live tomorrow. Sasktel sells the e973 so I am assuming I will be unable to use LTE but my fingers are crossed they support the 2600MHz band. Is this a software issue (still hope) or hardware issue (I'm ****ed)?

All our test on doing that didnt end well. Either we had to send phone to repair, either it didnt work.

Fair enough, thanks for your help.

Why would you have to send your phone in for repair from just changing the modem? That is weird imo... Back with the Captivate, using the incorrect modem just resulted in no signal. Flash again in CWM with correct modem and you're good to go.

sasktel update
I did some googling and found that Sasktel is using 1700/2100 MHz (same as telus) in phase 1 and using 700 MHz later on. Looks like I will be waiting till the auction for LTE :bad: but on the bright side the development for this device seems to be picking up :good:

I swapped out my Rogers modem for a Bell modem via adb yesterday while messing with the E975 rom and every thing worked just fine.

I'm not you so I don't know what you tried. But there is definitely a bunch of modems out there and hard to believe that the wrong modem will brick a phone, especially when we got CWM, Download Mode, etc.

Well Chad and Houstonn experimented and both killed their radio.
It's probably safe to swap within Canadian carriers and not otherwise.

As long as there is a Rogers modem and can be done in CWM, then I'd love to give it a try. Obviously you can't connect to the network using Korean modem. They use different frequencies...

Not sure if trolling or stupid.
However, looking at the recent post you made i'll go with the stupid.
I flashed korean modem. I had no network. I flashed back my old modem (It was even the same as i had on my phone cause i made a backup). I could still not connect to network. I Tried different modem. I could still not connect to the network. Houstonn have same problem.
I think i made my sentence simple enough now.

The flash probably broke something else then. Out of all the phones I've used and flashed, not one has resulted in a situation that you are describing. But whatever. I'm just trying to help and suggest things that could have happened or been missed. Clearly help is not appreciated here.

I'm not sure fi wifi calling requires the tmobile modem, so it's really up to you guys to test and report in. What i can tell you is these modems will not damage your device.
they all work for me on telus (with exception of the DoMoCo one, since have no networks it supports here) However using the tmobile and rogers radio cut my HSPA+ speeds down to HSPA as the radios appear not to support dual channeling of HSPA on 850/1900 like telus needs.
for some reason it wont install on CM7 i have tried CWM and ROMmanager, no go on either, its the Tmobile vk1 radio

Diffrent radios might increase reception in some areas, increase download speeds and might improve battery life or they can do the opposite and be detrimental to recepition, download speeds and battery.... Users results may vary. Flash and test for your self.

Generally fastboot is the safest method because of the bit check before flashing but I run the G2/ HTC Vision radio thread and as long as the MD5 matches it pretty safe, out of over 10000 downloads of my G2 flashable radio zips I think ive only seen 1 brick but even that one couldnt 100 percent be connected to the flashable zip so in general I thinks its very safe.

[Q]How to flash other S3 ROMs to the Tmobile S3

Hello, I was curious if you can flash ROMs from the S3's from other carriers besides T-Mobile and also flash ROMs from the international forums. I remeber back when i had my Vibrant all you would have to do is flash the correct boot.img and also replace the keylayout file. Is it as simple as flashing a tmobile boot.img since the keys are all the same? Thank you in advance.
don't do it.

There is a possibility of sharing ROMs with the AT&T model. If you go check out their forum, there are a couple of ROMs which people have successfully flashed on the T-Mobile model. Search the threads and flash at your own risk!

That is totally true. On the Hercules you could flash the skyrocket roms. But the T-Mobile ones are usually better. The att ones are really only better when att leaks first.
Don't do it was an oversimplification, however.

Nope, the hardware internally is too different. I doubt there'll be an easy method to port the ROMs either.
The AT&T ROMs on the other hand should be fairly easy to port and I think there is a group working towards this goal.
You will lose your insurance.
Just to let you know, you will lose your phone's insurance, this is not the same as the 90 day warranty. I remember I had flashed my vibrant to a rom using the international model, about six months later I got a letter in the mail saying assurion would no longer insure my phone, because it wasn't the right model. I might have been able to add the text file that adds the correct model number, but I don't know if that really works or how to I it.

In this case they could have seen the flashing being done and the changing of the build.prop file. That would make the most sense to me.

International N7105 firmware confirmed working on i317!!!

For any of you who want to have your cake and eat it too, you can now flash the international N7105 firmware onto your AT&T branded i317!
What does this mean? It means that you can give AT&T the middle finger by having unlocked firmware with none of the restrictions and bloatware. By extension, this also means that you can benefit from the development going on for the international devices.
Finally, this also means that you can reap all those benefits without sacrificing LTE access in North America!
Now that this has been confirmed to work with the i317, I wonder if the T889 is next...

We tried flashing the international N7105 firmware onto the i317 using Odin, but that didn't work. However, the procedure seems to be working if, instead of using Odin, you flash a re-packaged stock N7105 firmware using a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, just like flashing any other custom ROM. Once that's done, just flash the AT&T modem/kernel, and you're all set!
Unfortunately, there hasn't been much development for the N7105 yet. Root, CWM, deodexing and all the other basics are there, but that's all for the moment. Devs are still trying to work out N7100/N7105 inter-compatibility. N7100 firmware will flash to an N7105, but the modem won't work, so that's pretty useless, and that's what we're all trying to fix.
At least, in the mean time, you can enjoy a stock N7105 experience in North America without AT&T/Rogers sticking their fingers in the pie

Very nice.
Upon thinking about it. I believe there is a way to use this method to give us international firmware and also retain our NA CSC's so we keep carrier specific settings such as Wi-Fi access, Fast dormancy and the like too.
Currently working on it and will get back to people once I am finished.
Glad to see someone else was working on this as it was something I wanted to get around to messing with but have been busy poking into Bootloaders and dialer codes.

Agreed however, no one knows for sure it isn't present in our devices and that Samsung just removed the driver at the request of the greedy NA companies. They don't want us listening to something for free when they can force us to connect and use data. Maybe the driver is in the 7105 firmware...

Did what Miscom had done and got the latest GT-I7105 Unbranded firmware release LJ5, with this one I injected the Canadian CSC's and everything seems to be working except a few carrier apps that check for the proper model number they would force close on me.
Going over this firmware, seems okay but doesn't seem to be any better then the stock LJ2 that came with the phone.
My main hope with using an international firmware would be unlocked dialer codes, and I was correct in my testing, any carrier locked dialer codes are controller within the firmware + check what CSC you have as well.
Got some working that I couldn't before hand, however the main one that I wanted to use was the *#7465625# to view network lock status, it was one that I couldn't get working, but I believe that it wasn't working because my phone is already a factory unlocked one so to really know for sure I'd half to have one that is known to be locked.
Anyways, glad this experiment worked, I will definitely be looking at this again in the future, however I know that the Samsung Canada is planning on releasing an updated firmware for the phone at the same time or soon after the Canadian S3's get their Jelly Bean updated, and it is also rumored that they will be 4.1.2 as well. So with this possibility I will be going back to Bell's Stock firmware and see what we get in a few weeks.

Oh, does this mean you can do MultiView as well??

To my understanding, yes. I am downloading it now and will be flashing it shortly. I'm curious if the Wallet issues were NA specific to ATT as well? I should reread those threads to see what the problem was...

4G Low to No Signal

Hey guys, so I recently rooted my LG Optimus 4G LTE P935 Phone, and put in CyanogenMod 10.1. Since then I am getting very little to no 4G speeds, and sometimes drops completely. I was reading online that this could be due to old fragmented files etc. I am wondering what the procedure is to perform a full wipe/clean of my phone,to remove all files, then just flash the rom back on again?
Thanks in advance.

Do you know what baseband you are using? Sounds like it could be an incompatible baseband.

If I am not mistaken that is a Korean baseband and could be the source of the problem. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842763
On the first post is a link called download. Click on download and then look for the telus v20e download. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.
