What do you mean? He created a thread from a thought in his head? Whats to explain

My Evo LTE stock gets 6500 on quadrant. My Note II gets 5500 stock on quadrant.Yet the Evo is laggy as all hell compared to the note II... Moral of the story? What's the point of bench marks if real world performance is better on a device that gets 1000 points less?.
But curious to know how you got over 8K...And surely what ever was done will be a battery killer right?

Really high quadrant scores have been made by doing weird io tweaks to cheat. io scores are heavily weighted in quadrant. I was able to hit 6000+ with a stock evo using cm6 and some turbo kernel iirc

8000+ is a bit silly. Max OC, performance governor, and i/o tweaks.
I'm running the MA5 firmware + modem and deodexed ROM, Perseus aplha32. I have my CPU set to 1704/300 (PerseusQ), handle i/o using deadline scheduling, and GPU set to 733/266. I'm getting Quadrant scores of 7000-7200 consistently throughout the day.

Calkulin's Rom is Fast...

Anybody with questions about the speed of Calk's Rom, here it is. Not sure how this compares with other, more modern phones. Quadrant seems a bit out dated at the moment. This is at forced 1.6 ghz with the LoST kernel Exp build. I don't particularly trust the kernel that gets up to 1.8 ghz..

Try it with Renegade kernel.
It is extremely fast!
I'm loving it but I'm just wondering how to add TSMParts (such as multiple lockscreens like Starburst has or extended toggles). With those tweaks, this would be nearly perfect.

3g and wifi are internet speeds. Benchmarks are your cpu speeds. Neither wifi or 3g will affect the benchmarks.

You realize that none of these "fast" roms are actually faster than stock?
All of them use various tricks to improve the sd card score without affecting the cpu/gpu scores. Quadrant is a flawed benchmark susceptible to cheating that way.
None of those "high" scores truly translate to real world performance improvements.

Who gives a damn?
Kernels don't "go to" megahertz. Your hardware can either handle it or it can't.
Get any kernel which allows cpu voltage tinkering, and figure out your best speed.

I have and i am still on this Rom right now but all i get are reboots and when i do reboot my phone loops and i have to flash all over again.
And yes i wipe all before i flash.

CyanogenMod10 Lowers Benchmark Scores????

So CyanogenMod10 has to be by far my most favorite rom for my sgs3. But check out these benchmark Scores. The lower score is on the cm10 rom and the higher score is on the stock rom (all while rooted of course) are there any fixes to this or does CyanogenMod have to find a fix for this?

It's true tho... Benchmarks really don't make a difference.. You can have high marks (Acturate) and still have a craptastic time with the device. All comes down to the person who uses it. Your opinion is the only one who really matters. So who cares what a program says.. Does it perform and do things you want? That's all that does matter. (Just my opinion on this whole thing) I've seen several post with benchmarks and yada yada.. lol.. Who cares!

It's more based on how the rom works, and the kernel yes helps with CPU and GPU scores but I noticed his GPU scores are lower than mine, one of the nation reasons I'm still stock. Because it's probably persues kernel and has issues with FPS in real world and quadrant performance.
He probably ran it 1600/1600 on performance or something on those lines
Edit: this is mine stock rooted GPU much better than his, until persues can match this without overclocking the GPU just to get the same performance I do on stock I'm not switching.

Maybe you should consider that you're not the brightest, most experienced person in this thread before talking smack.
Exposing a component to more heat means you are shortening its life, there is no doubt about that. Those with overclocked desktop CPUs often have elaborate setups with overclocking in mind. You can't add a better heatsink, or a fan to your phone. Mobile CPUs, especially, are designed to be efficient at a certain range of clock frequencies. Moving it too far from the norm means you eventually see diminishing returns.
I've fried everything from my first Commodore 64 to my current box, and everything in between. If you think the phone can function at that level for an extended period of time without failure, best of luck to you.

Dude it was part of the whole meaning of rooting and tweaking. Checking different settings for a little bit, testing them and then reverting back to defaults. I will never leave overclocked/ undervolted or vice-versa settings for a whole day... its just part of the fun of tweaking and experimenting with our devices...
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I am all for overclocking, modding, tweaking, hacking, etc. Breaking **** is the best way to learn. But that doesn't mean you should push your hardware past the point of exponentially diminishing returns, and increased risk of burning your chips out. That is, unless, you have no problem with the very real possibility that you'll need to buy a new phone.
That being said, kudos on "going plaid" with your Quadrant score

So far I think staying stock is just as good as running a developed kernel for this particular ROM imho, especially when you want to get the most battery. I use SetCPu and will run min 486 and Max 1350/1404. SmartassV2 and Zen or cfq governors. I don't play many games on my phone, I have tablets for that and they are tweaked as high as I can go and be stable. It's all about what you use your phone for, most times when I benchmark it seems the higher frequency I push my score actually will get worse, might be I'm need to up my voltage, but I don't mess with voltages much. I will follow the developers guidelines for undervolting if I'm trying to squeeze that extra life, but I don't worry about it that much. Best way for me to extend my battery life is start turning things off when they're not needed. All the things I try with my devices I have learned by reading on the XDA forums, and by far the developers for our GS3's are the best and I'm very thankful for all they give up to give us these awesome roms, kernels, and not forgetting about the theme developers to make or phones run fast, operate smoothly, and look great. Without them might as well buy a fruit product, just kidding I would get a flip phone before I would do that. .... BENCHMARK SCORES! - post your best scores!

Lets all post our Benchmarks!
I am using Antutu Benchmark found at the play store for free
I am currently running the Infamous1.5 ROM based on android 4.1.2
with the Infamous kernel .7.4 by Jamison904
BTW... I have about 85 or so personal apps installed in this mod
I am also running the World Weather Clock Widget at the same time

here is my score...

a benchmark is basically a set of tests to see how fast your phone is running
here is the dictionary meaning...
bench·mark
/ˈbenCHˌmärk/
Noun
A standard or point of reference against which things may be compared or assessed.
Verb
Evaluate or check (something) by comparison with a standard: "we are benchmarking our performance against external criteria".
if you want to compare your device to others
go to playstore and download Antutu Benchmark and run it
I know my device would score low...I'm setup for stability and battery life.
Those with really high scores are tweaked for Max performance and probably carry an a/c charger in their pockets!

Yea.. not for me. A much faster phone would be nice. The Nexus 4 is much faster and smoother on all fronts. I've had 3 t989s and the camera is absolutely nothing to write home about. Compared to an exynos powered GS2, the sensor on this camera sucks.. and don't say theyre the same because they are not. SAMOLED is awesome but outdoors it's a pile of sh*t.
Point is, to each their own.
