Samsung Galaxy sII X t989 (Telus) Jellybean update? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi, we have waited a long time for this update and most of us are getting fed up. Telus set a estimated release date for around the end of December 2012. Is there a known reason why this update is getting so delyed? Im very curious why its been almost a month over then it was said to come out. Theres isnt a jellybean 4.1 touchwiz rom out there that I know of. I have tried most of the jedi jelly roms and some skyrocket ports all of them have problems.

If anyone knows anything about this or a good rom your comment is greatly appreciated thanks

And OP please the read the Forum Rules on posting in the correct section.

i've only had my phone for a month now aand have been on a custom rom since dayy 1. just keep testing out all of the roms, even the ones that are not touchwz based and soon enough youll find a rom that works for you..... the only big difference feature wise with the latest j bean are the lockscreen and the notification drawer. you ain't missing out much with what we have right now

Galaxy S3 or not that is the Question.

I am using the Galaxy Nexus with Jelly Bean Stock, now, do you guys think Galaxy S3 is worth it to throw out Jelly Bean and move to ICS in GS3?
I am asking this because I am planning to change my phone to GS3...
any ideas?

The SGSIII does have better specs than the Gnex, but personally I couldn't give up Google Now. You shouldn't have a problem finding custom builds of JB for the SGSIII. Some/many may be in beta stage and will get more stable after a while, so you could wait and not have to update as frequently or you could take the plunge and do the work. Afaik Samsung has not yet said anything official about the SIII getting JB but if I were a betting man I would bet it will eventually see it.
Edit: Wait it's important to mention that the VZW variant has a locked bootloader, so no custom firmware. Yet. Not sure what carrier you are on.
hold your GN for 3 4 months if you want JB. Than change to S3.
Simple!
I too was planing to change to GS3 but also found that almost similar thing i get with my SGN and added is super JB so decided to wait for 2 months and see what is gonna be better GS3 or Iphone 5 which is yet to come in abt 3 months i wud choose one of it
U can wait as per me but u r the boss
Why "upgrade" from a dual core device to another dual core? Wait for a good quad device to be on your carrier then upgrade

We just had a leak for ICS. So if anything it will be ICS. And don't expect official jb for about 2-3 months after international gets it. At&t is really slow with it.

Here's a quick Youtube video of the new Galaxy S3 update that will trickle out eventually for US carriers. This should answer most of your questions. It's only available for International as of now:

I think they should skip 4.1.2 and release 4.2. But knowing Samsung and Tmobile, I know it not going to happen I think we have better chance seeing 4.2 on the Note 3.

Every Galaxy S series phone I had, the good folks at Sammy and T-Mongols (misspelling is on purpose) from way back with the Vibrant then the SG2, then the Note2, I always experienced a full OS update change. Not a partial that we just experienced. With the Vibrant, they moved from Eclair to Froyo. On my SG2 it was from Gingerbread to ICS. So if this keeps it up, we should get out of Jellybean onto whatever is next.

I think you should skip your note 2 and get a Nexus device if you are so concerned with having the newest 1st. My G1 has a ICS build and that was the 1st android device commercially available. Use your brain if you have one, 4.2 is just around the corner and already out in the form of CM10.1. Kandy Kane will be no exception and CM11 will bring it to us before sammy sends out a touchwized version of it. Do some damn research before you just start assuming things.

What the hell is wrong with the people on XDA nowaday. Did you even think before you made your comment. Of course i know CM 10.1 w/4.2 is out. Didnt you see my comment on the other thread about madmack has a working CM10.1 4.2 rom for all lte Note 2. I know you did saw my post because you made a comment below that. I wasnt talking about asop 4.2, i was talking bout official Samsung 4.2 with Touchwiz. Does CM10.1 supports s-note, s-pen, mutli-windows etc...NO. All the features included in Samsung touchwiz are what make the phone the "Note"
But to answer your question, i do have a brain and thats why i going to take the high road. You dont have to like me or agree with my comment. But i'd appreciate it if you respect me and don't use those kind of languages.

I should stay away from here on my days off. You guys kill my chill.
I am going to guess that the 4.1.2 will be the one that unlocks LTE...
For some reason tmo/Sammy don't take a poll on xda regarding release dates.

Wrong again. 4.1.2 just polishes the over all performance of 4.1.1, it it was an LTE thing the N7100 wouldn't have got it and they did. It just cleanes up some code and makes things smoother.

Additionally, my posts were aimed at questions people posed, which nobody had the answers to. I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to learn about what makes my phone work, make that better and pass it on. Along the way I answer some questions and point the n00bs in the right direction. If you guys have a problem with getting flamed, use the search feature before starting a new thread. It's obvious what kind of person you are assuming the Apple role, all while having a DONATE TO ME on your avatar while offering nothing but poor grammar and dimwitted responses. Cheers bro, you are doing the lord's work here.
Wrong. It has to do with timing rather than LTE. If T-Mobile doesn't get to releasing 4.1.2/4.2 until they release LTE then they will be released at the same time.
But Samsung wants to fix thier issues while still working on 4.1.2/4.2 on Note 2. Then T-Mobile needs to work on the 4.1.2/4.2. Then they set up a time to release 4.1.2/4.2 for us. And because of the Samsung fixes it may be released before T-Mobile releases thier LTE.
Again this is all about timing.

Depends on how you see a "snob".
I personally don't like the control that Apple puts on their products. So yes I am snobbish at Apple products.
I believe that devices like Android "smartphones" are really Mobile (Cellular/WiFi) Pocket Personal Computers aka MPPC. So you can say that I am a snob there too.
But what is being a technology snob have to do with the release of 4.1.2/4.2?

Any ETA of 4.2.2 or 5.0.0

I tried looking around but couldn't find anything, maybe searched google with the wrong keywords or IDK. Thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else knew any better.
No...
We have no ETA for either official version.
Rest assured if leaks are released, or official versions drop, you will see a flurry of activity regarding those builds.
Meanwhile...enjoy the fine builds we do have....IMHO....g

The real trick, is to watch for international release leaks...
Our friends on the other side of the pond will get new releases first, every time. And those builds are generally leaked.
If you see an international note 2 leak that boasts a 4.2.2 build number or higher, then you have cause to celebrate. And only hours later our devs will post the findings.
This info is of course, subject to change without notice...LOL....g

The galaxy S3 will be getting 4.3 in October
But I don't think it will officially get 4.4. However does officially really matter, when you can just get it unofficially?
Also by the time carriers actually start releasing 4.4 the gs3 will be a third or even fourth tier phone in the series
Also I like the idea of KitKat it was Google one upping all those people who thought they could predict them in a creative way that also set up more advertising ect...
Eh, not holding my breath. I would rather get it unofficially IMO. Nice to brag to my friends or others

The Galaxy S3 will but ours won't. Always always always when they announce updates forthcoming they are talking about the international versions. It is then up to Samsung and the carriers to invest resources to put them on US phones. Typically this takes several months IF the carrier is interested. AT&T just got 4.1.2 and it is not a pushed update.
As for 4.4 I have no doubts about the S3 getting that version but you will be asking the same hypothetical question then about 5.0.
I could see the s3 getting Kitkat, but not for a while after all of the other phones. Just because the s3 was a very successful phone and they're still being sold like crazy. Anyways, I hope I'll have Kitkat on my s5 on release .

Galaxy S phones have always had two major updates (Galaxy S1 got Froyo and Gingerbread, S2 got ICS and JB. Since Android has had multiple versions of Jelly Bean, it is hard to say whether or not they think of Jelly Bean 4.1 and Jelly Bean 4.3 as two major updates for the Galaxy S3, but if not, then it is likely we will get Android 4.4 KitKat.
