which one was a no go? hopefully you used the stock version. it should work on ALL ROMs and phones. the other 2 will of course not work on stock ROMs. AOSP only.

I'm a little confused about what you mean by (MMS is borked. Use stock for MMS sending) does flashing this install a separate messaging app and I will need to switch back and forth in order to use mms messages?

yes. for the mms borked one it is a separate app. you can run this app side by side with any messaging app on all ROMs.

Hmm... "messaging has stopped" this occurs when I scroll through the threads.

Mms didn't seem to work. As was originally posted. However I came across this and it works fine. Mms is supported with no problems. It's pretty solid. Make sure you go into root explorer and back up your stock messaging app first, it's titled as "SecMms.apk"

Can't set any security on it, therefore this is useless to me. But as for functionality, it worked flawlessly on Darkside Evolution v8. Notification drop down did indeed work along with the camera launch.
The only thing I dont like about these lockers is that pressing the home button from the lockscreen unlocks it, I saw an option on this locker to disable that, but it ended up disabling the home button completely

Dude, seem you're still new here Ok, use any root browsing capable File explorer like RootExplorer, download the apk from OP, copy to sd card, open RootExplorer, copy the SecMms.apk, navigate to preload > symlink > system > app > set permission to your old SecMms.apk > delete it > then paste the New SecMms.apk
i solved this lag without changing the mms app.. simply by enabling force gpu rendering on developer settings

It sounds like you're having the same problem that I had when I tried to do this. Open the Xposed Installer. You will be in the framework tab. Go to the "modules" tab. There is, at least on my ROM, a very faint grey box to the left of "Xposed App Settings." Click on the box. I think you have to restart. Then open Xposed App and any changes you make ought to actually change the apps in question.
I was sitting there for almost an hour trying to change settings, look up settings, and see why mine wasn't working. Never thought that I could be messing around with something that wasn't even active.
I hope this helps.
Works perfect, thank you.

Select Settings, then DPI:160 and Screen(dp,px):600x1024. That puts Settings, Gmail, Voice, and some others into a similar format. Makes the Internet browser force close on ICS TouchWiz though.

[APP] [PA] [HALO] Modified Mms with Halo Support (emojis etc)

Custom Mms APP that notifications works with Halo. I've only tested on PA 3.60 but it works for me! Right now it's the black theme MMS, but I'm going to work on it having the default mms theme within a few days.
I have tested this on my own N4, but I would treat this as a "beta" ( I had one crash when using this, trying to enable splitting sms messages, and also when clicking "reply" from the notification bar, but that's what Halo would be used for )
Credit SimRom team, Paranoid Android team
EDIT
putting up white theme mms that has less features, but all work (like reply in pull down notification)

I tried to get this MMS to work, but I ran into issues. I'm new to compiling roms, and I could never could get this one to work without throwing errors. However, if you could find someone who is able to build the rom (maybe in their main thread) this commit is all that is needed to change the mms app to work with halo https://github.com/ParanoidAndroid/...mmit/1b4cb5d2ba4616061859a55ebb9e82c61fecb3ed
There is another commit in another package, but it looks like the Xenon team has already added it (which makes me think they will be possibly fixing the MMS soon)
Sorry I wasn't able to get it working!
